Treats various conditions caused by intestinal parasites, such as abdominal distension, pain, sallow complexion, and emaciation.
*Changium smyrnoides* (Wuyi), *Polyporus umbellatus* (Leiyuan), *Prunus persica* seed (Taoren), *Quercus variabilis* bark processed with heat (Ganqi) [stir-fried until smoke ceases], *Realgar* (Xionghuang) [lightly stir-fried], *Tin ash* (Xihui), *Gleditsia sinensis* thorn (Zaojiao) [stir-fried until smoke ceases], *Areca catechu* seed (Binglang), *Quisqualis indica* fruit (Shijunzi) [made into pills the size of mung beans using wheat paste].
Treats abdominal distension and pain due to parasites, as well as jaundice resulting from dietary irregularities and overwork, accompanied by pica (craving for tea leaves, raw rice, charcoal, or soil). (When food stagnates and damp-heat steams and郁s, parasites are generated. This manifests as abdominal fullness and biting pain, or jaundice and edema. The craving for raw rice, tea, soil, or charcoal occurs because these substances are preferred by the parasites.)
*Quisqualis indica* fruit (Shijunzi) [shelled, 2 liang], *Arisaema erubescens* (Nanxing) [processed with ginger], *Areca catechu* seed (Binglang) [1 liang]. Stir-fry the above herbs together. If the patient craves raw rice, add 1 jin of *Hordeum vulgare* sprout (Maiya) and stir-fry. Use sweet substances to lure them [to consume the medicine].
(Treated in *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* as "Ghost Tendency" and "Transmitting Corpse Consumption Tuberculosis," which is one of the Five Tendencies. Its symptoms cause alternating chills and fever, a silent and depressed demeanor, and an inability to pinpoint the source of suffering, yet there is always aversion to people. After death, it transmits to others, potentially wiping out a family.)
*Hydrictis maculicollis* liver (Tagan) [one whole liver, must be taken from a live otter, otherwise many are counterfeit]. Dry in the shade and powder. Take 2 qian with boiling water. Three times daily.
Wu Hegao stated: Otter liver treats Ghost Tendency. Why is this? Any creature that dislikes humans, dwells in secluded places, hides during the day, and emerges at night belongs to the Yin category. Therefore, borrowing its properties... Rats also... because they can...
Treats various parasites attacking upwards, causing chest and abdominal pain.
*Citrus reticulata* green peel (Qingpi), *Foeniculum vulgare* seed (Xiahuixiang) [stir-fried], *Evodia rutaecarpa* fruit (Wuzhuyu) [1 qian], *Areca catechu* seed (Binglang), *Lindera aggregata* rootstock (Wuyao) [1.5 qian], *Castanea seguinii* kernel (Xifeirou) [3 qian, crushed], *Vitis vinifera* dried fruit (Wumei) [two pieces]. Decoct, remove dregs, and administer according to the syndrome. Alternatively, eat beef jerky first.
Treats various parasitic infestations in the intestines and stomach. (The intestines and stomach contain everything. The reason parasites are generated is due to deficiency of healthy Qi, ingestion of unclean substances, or formation through damp-heat steaming and郁s. This is analogous to the principle that objects must rot before insects are born.)
*Carpesium abrotanoides* herb (Heshi), *Lead carbonate* (Hufen) [stir-fried], *Melia azedarach* root bark (Lian dong yin wei chu tu zhe) [eastern-growing, un-emerged roots], *Areca catechu* seed (Binglang), *Changium smyrnoides* (Wuyi), *Quisqualis indica* fruit (Shijunzi) [5 qian], *Alumen* (Kufan) [2.5 qian]. Powdered.
