Additionally, needle the point on the outer side of the thumb, level with the base of the nail. This applies regardless of gender or side. Use a common household needle. Effect is immediate upon bleeding. If the condition is extremely critical, needling both thumbs is especially effective.
To treat *Hou Bi*, use a Bian stone (bloodletting needle) to pierce the swollen area. Bleeding brings immediate effect.
To treat diseases of the throat and pharynx, prick the center of the nail on the little finger to release blood the size of three beans. Prick both left and right. Must strictly avoid alcohol, wheat products, and toxic foods.
To treat various conditions of the throat and pharynx, as well as malignant conditions such as toxic vapors returning to the heart, all are treated with no exception. The first point is Fengfu (GV16), located one cun inside the hairline at the back of the head.
Insert the needle four fen deep. The point is high and may cause dizziness, potentially harming the patient; this must be known. Ensure someone supports and protects the patient during needling. The second point is Shaoshang (LU11), on the radial side of the thumb near the tiger's mouth, level with the nail root, about the width of a leek leaf away from the nail corner. Insert two fen deep. For severe cases, insert five fen. The third point is Hegu (LI4) [Text says He Gu, likely Hegu], treating facial paralysis and locked jaw. Then use Yangling point [Text says Yang Ling, likely a specific technique or alias], prick each once to bleed, insert two fen, and the orifice will close. Another syndrome involves tidal fever or chills. At Hegu (LI4), rotating the needle to the left induces cold sensation, rotating to the right induces heat sensation. The fourth point is Shangxing (GV23), located one cun inside the hairline at the front of the vertex. Treats cheek swelling and winding throat wind. For急促 breathing due to excess heat, needle Zusanli (ST36); for deficiency heat, moxa Zusanli. Measure the knee with hand, the point is where the fingertip ends. For recurrent throat/pharynx issues, moxa half a cun below the earlobe near the zygomatic bone for 7 cones, 14 cones is better. Also moxa Zusanli (ST36), located three cun below the knee, lateral to the tibia.
To treat *Hou Bi*. Select Fenglong (ST40), Yongquan (KI1), and Guanchong (TE1).
If the disease is severe, use a small three-edged needle hidden in the pen tip. Deceive the patient by pretending to apply medicine to the obstructed throat, then quickly prick it. Purple blood will immediately flow out, with significant effect. Hiding the needle prevents the patient from resisting.
To treat *Hou Bi* and toxic vapors. Select Chize (LU5), moxa 100 cones.
