Grind Wubeizi (Chinese Gall) into powder. Add Baixiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) powders. Form pills with white plum meat. Hold in mouth to dissolve. The carbuncle will rupture spontaneously.
Formula for Sudden Throat Carbuncle Swelling (From *Taiping Shenghui Fang*)
Use Yiyiren (Coicis Semen). Swallow two grains for cure. Another method: Use 1 liang, 1 sheng of water, decoct to 0.5 sheng, strain, take in one dose.
Treatment for Sudden Xuan Yong Swelling (From *Taiping Shenghui Fang*)
Use Naosha (Sal Ammoniac) 2 qian. Wrap in cotton, hold in mouth, swallow saliva. Cured.
Dizhong Feng (Emperor Bell Wind): Refers to swelling of the Dizhong (uvula) in the throat, sometimes growing several inches long.
Pass salt through fire. Dip a crow feather in the salt and apply. It resolves immediately. Do not puncture with a needle; puncturing harms the person. Another method: Wrap salt in cotton on a chopstick tip, rub the area. Change 6-7 times daily.
Sheng Yantong (Holy Smoke Tube): Treats Xuan Yong swelling blocking the airway. Urgently open the mouth. Check for "mo" (tonsillar enlargement). If present, must puncture with a needle. If not visible, crush Castor seeds (Bidanzi). Roll paper into a tube. Light one end to produce smoke. Direct smoke into the throat. It will naturally open. Once visible, puncture with a three-edged needle. Release half a sheng of purple blood. Cure follows. For nobles who forbid needles, deceive them by saying... Use a brush dipped in medicine. Insert a needle into the brush handle to prick. Another method: Cauterize using Badou (Crotonis Semen) according to previous methods. Or simply use Bidanzi (Ricini Semen) and Badou.
