Yin qi flourishing and sudden collapse of Yang qi result in Yin Du (Yin Toxin). If Yang qi flourishes and sudden collapse of Yin qi occurs, it results in Yang Du (Yang Toxin). Generally speaking, when Yin and Yang separate and collapse, only profuse sweating can restore the healthy Qi. When all six pulses are surging and large, or deep, and feel large but not very rapid upon palpation, it is not a Yin syndrome. For Yang Du, the pulse should be wiry, surging, and rapid. For Yin Du, the pulse is deep, fine, and rapid. In Yang disease, the body is hot without sweat; in Yin disease, the body is cold with sweat. Qibo stated: "When Yang prevails, the body becomes hot, the interstices close, breathing becomes coarse causing difficulty in bending and stretching, and heat persists without sweat. When Yin prevails, the body becomes cold with sweat, frequent shivering and chills occur, cold leads to extremity reversal." This condition cannot be treated with ordinary methods. The *Jingui Yaolue* discusses Yang Du as a disease presenting with a red face, mottled spots like brocade patterns, sore throat, and expectoration of pus and blood. It is treatable within five days, but untreatable after seven days. Yin Du presents with a bluish-green complexion and face, body pain resembling being beaten, and sore throat; its prognosis for life and death is the same as Yang Du. The *San Yin Fang* states: Patients suffer from heavy head and stiff neck, strong numbness of skin and flesh, or accumulation forming nodules starting from the sides of the throat and neck. Heat toxin spreads into the skin and muscle layers, dispersing upwards into the hairline and downwards through the temples, with hidden heat that does not break off. This disease is named Huang Rou Sui (Yellow Flesh Following). Occurring on the eighteen Wu-Ji days of each season, the disease arises from the conflict between Taiyang and Yangming. Cold-dampness is disordered, and joints are obstructed. If the Fu organs are deficient, there is strong numbness of skin and flesh; if the Zang organs are excess, toxin-heat spreads to the skin. It also states: Patients have internal heat and external cold, desire to keep warm by fire, yet paradoxically crave drinking. Lower back pain feels as if breaking, or chest and hypochondriac cutting pain like knife stabs, preventing turning. Heat builds up internally. Taking too much cold medicine causes severe diarrhea. This disease is named Hei Gu Wen (Black Bone Warmth). Originating in the winter months, the source comes from the struggle between Foot Taiyang and Shaoyin. Accumulation and blockage occur. If the Fu organs are deficient, they are injured by Yin Du, resulting in internal heat and external cold. If the Zang organs are excess, they are damaged by Yang Du, resulting in intense fever. It also states: Patients have fever, lower back pain with stiffness and urgency, legs curled and unable to extend, waist feeling as if breaking, flowers dancing before eyes, or alternating chills and fever. The two tendons in the neck are pulled and cannot bend or stretch; the neck is straight and back is stiff. Eyes are red and yellow, wanting to turn, and the body twists to the side. This disease is named Qing Jin Qian (Green Tendons Pulling). Originating in the spring months, the source comes from Jueyin entering Shaoyang. Shaoyang qi begins to emerge, while Shaoyin qi begins to decline. Yin and Yang are depressed in the interstices, and the Fu and Zang organs are harmed, leading to generation of disease. If the Fu organs are deficient, they are injured by Yin pathogenic factors, thus causing fever. If the Zang organs are excess, [the disease] is named Chi Mai KT (Red Vessels KT). Occurring in the summer months, the disease arises from the struggle and stagnation of Shaoyin and Taiyang qi. Ying and Wei circulation is blocked, causing pain and swelling in skin and flesh. Taiyang activates, and the excessive pathogenic qi of Shaoyin acts destructively, so the Zang and Fu organs receive epidemic diseases according to the time. If the Fu organs are deficient, they are injured by Yin pathogenic factors, causing chills. If
