When cold and heat are not in harmony, Huoluan (Cholera-like disease with sudden vomiting and diarrhea) forms. If Huoluan is accompanied by fullness and distension of the heart and abdomen, it indicates that cold pathogenic qi is struggling with the internal organ qi, causing a conflict between healthy qi and evil qi, preventing the expulsion of pathogens through vomiting or diarrhea.
Consequently, the ascending and descending mechanisms of Qi fail, the Stomach becomes deficient, and external pathogenic factors accumulate internally, leading to distension, oppression, and mental restlessness. If accompanied by undigested food, internal irritability, and vomiting, lowering the Qi downward can cure the disease.
