Use two bowls of aged wine, decoct until reduced to eight-tenths, leave overnight. Two hours before onset, take warm.
Yazao San (Toothed Soap Pod Powder): Treats severe epigastric pain unresponsive to other medicines; this formula acts miraculously. Burn Yazao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina) until carbonized but retaining its nature (burnt to the point where smoke is about to cease), grind into powder. Mix with one qian of Shengjiu (Baijiu/Liquor) and take orally for immediate effect.
Lixiang San (Lychee Fragrance Powder): Treats extreme pain from hernia (Shanqi). Most suitable for conditions involving the Qi level, and also treats lower abdominal Qi pain and similar syndromes with miraculous efficacy. Additionally, the following formula treats chronic heart and abdominal pain. Lizhixi (Lychee Seed) (stir-fried until slightly scorched), Dahuixiang (Foeniculum Vulgare Fruit) (equal parts, stir-fried). Grind into powder above. Mix with good wine and take 2-3 qian. If cold is severe, add processed Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) in half the dose. For chronic heart, abdomen, or epigastric pain that recurs frequently upon touch, mostly seen in women: use Lizhixi (1 qian) and Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (0.8 qian), grind into powder. Take 1 qian each time, mixed with clear soup. Several doses can eradicate the root cause.
Shigao (Pig Fat): The *Neijing* states: "An abscess arising in the throat is called Mengju (Violent Jujube). If Mengju is not treated, it turns into pus. If the pus is not drained, it blocks the throat, leading to death within half a day. If it has turned into pus, draining it combined with taking Shigao, eaten cold, results in recovery in three days." This refers to consuming purified rendered pig back fat. Additionally, Wan's Formula: Treats sudden loss of voice due to lung heat. Use one jin of Zhizhi (Pork Lard), refine it, then add one jin of Baimi (White Honey). Refine briefly again, filter while hot, let cool and solidify. Pick up one spoonful occasionally to take; recovery follows. Note: This formula best moistens the lungs and intestines. It is most suitable for elderly patients with difficult expectoration of phlegm and dry stool constipation. Furthermore, the *Qianjin* Formula: Treats Guan Ge obstruction (difficulty swallowing with vomiting). Use two sheng of Zhizhi (Pork Lard) and Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice). Simmer over low heat until reduced to three sheng. Add five he of wine and simmer together. Divide into doses. My opinion: First, decoct Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) half a jin thickly to extract juice. Refine one jin of Zhizhi (Pork Lard). Combine and refine to remove moisture. Then add one jin of Baimi (White Honey) and refine briefly. Filter and store. Take occasionally. This treats elderly constipation and Yige obstruction (dysphagia with retention). It will surely be effective. If Yang qi fails to move, add four liang of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and decoct with Danggui. Or, if appropriate, take with wine. If Qi flow is obstructed, add two liang of Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), peeled and tip removed, decocted as before; all are excellent. If there is stagnation, using Yi Tang (Maltose) instead of honey is better. This aligns with the *Neijing* principle of using pungent flavors to moisten.
Ya Shanghan Jiexiong Fa (External Compress Method for Cold Damage Chest Binding): For patients with Cold Damage chest binding who have deficient Middle Qi and cannot tolerate internal purging or dissolving methods, this external compress method must be used. This moves stagnation and disperses pathogenic factors with miraculous effect. Congbaitou (Scallion White Head), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Sheng Luobo (Raw Radish) (double this amount; if unavailable, use seeds). Use several liang each of Congbai and Shengjiang, double the Luobo. Pound together, stir-fry until hot. Wrap in a hand towel or white cloth to form a large cake. Apply to the swollen and painful area on the chest. Divide the medicine into two packs. Rotate them when they cool. This opens blockages immediately, inducing sweating and recovery. Do not make it too hot to avoid burning discomfort. Another method: Pound 10-20 heads of Dasuan (Garlic). Spread on thick paper or thin silk. Apply to the swollen area. Disperses quickly. Treats all types of swelling and pain with miraculous efficacy.
Liaoqiao Jinbei Jian (Forsythia and Fritillaria Decoction): Best for Yang-level carbuncles and toxins located in the Zang-Fu organs, lungs, diaphragm, chest, or breasts. Decoct in either water or wine using two zhong. Wine is superior. Alternatively, decoct in water, then drink a few cups of wine afterwards to promote medicinal action. If Yang deficiency prevents transforming toxins, add Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus); if severe, add Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata). If Qi deficiency prevents transformation, add Huangqi (Astragali Radix) and Renshen (Ginseng Radix). If toxins sink and fail to reach the exterior, add Chuanshanjia (Manis Squama) or Zaoci (Gleditsiae Spina).
Shaoyao Jili Jian (Peony and Tribulus Decoction): Treats whole-body damp-heat sores and rashes, and various sores in the lower body with redness, swelling, heat, and pain. Miraculous efficacy. Dry ingredients can be ground into powder; fresh ones can be pounded. Mix evenly with Beimu. Externally: Decoct Maogen thickly, strain. Use the liquid to mix with the powder. Apply hot to the affected area. Keep the remaining decoction warm. Moisten the medicine occasionally. Do not use cold decoction, as cold causes stagnation and increases pain. Change approximately every half day. Truly a wonderful formula. Subsequent Formula: For stubborn, deep-rooted ulcer toxins, and tubercles/phlegm stagnation, use this. Naohuo (Styrax Benzoin), Sheng Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Tubei Mu (Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus), Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (equal parts), Duanshi (Calamina) (weathered, double or quadruple amount). Ensure medicinal vapor penetrates thoroughly. Then apply other medicaments. Twice or thrice daily is fine; frequent application is best. Cold-natured herbs clear heat; Heat-natured herbs disperse cold; Aromatic herbs move Qi; Toxic herbs resolve toxins. Used everywhere, beneficial everywhere. Soup gains herb properties without harm; herbs gain soup properties for stronger action. This principle applies to making pastes from hundred herbs.
