Lizhai stated: This prescription is a formula for resolving toxicity, removing necrotic tissue, and extracting pus; it is not a medicine that directly promotes the growth of flesh. This is because once the pathogenic factors are exhausted, the flesh will naturally regenerate. It is common to see patients often using substances such as Longgu (Fossilized Bones) and Xuexue (Dragon's Blood) in an attempt to promote flesh regeneration. Little do they know that if residual toxins remain, how can the flesh grow? Instead, it only increases putrefaction. Such insight is indeed valuable.
Prescription for Wound Closure Dusting Powder (No. 150)
Mr. Li said: In Longyou, there was a patient suffering from a carbuncle on the back. The wound had ulcerated severely, with only the diaphragm separating the internal organs. He believed he would certainly die. A preparation was made by removing the entrails from a crucian carp, stuffing them with dried dung from a castrated ram, baking it until dry, and grinding it into powder. This powder was applied dry to the wound, and the wound closed spontaneously. This method comes from Fangshi’s prescriptions and has been used successfully many times, so it is recorded here. It should only be used when the amount of pus has decreased and new flesh is about to grow.

Danxi stated: Lower abdominal mass, pain on pressure, urinary symptoms resembling strangury or self-relief, fever without sweating, aversion to cold, and slow, tight pulse indicate unformed pus. Purging is indicated, and blood will be discharged. This is caused by accumulated heat. Therefore, *Jingui Yaolue* uses Da Huang to purge, which is this formula. If these symptoms are absent, it should not be used. If the pulse is slippery and rapid, with abdominal distension and pain, or frequent tenesmus, and pus has already drained, Bawei Paimon San, Lafan Wan, and interior-supporting medicines are appropriate.

Mix with stir-fried ginger wine or boiling water at dawn. If lower abdominal pain occurs, take Yiyuan San to expel toxin via urine. Pregnant women must not take. After toxin removal, take Yiqi Yangying Tang to heal the wound. Although Ban Mao and Ba Dou seem harsh, Ba Dou resolves the toxicity of Ban Mao, so do not fear. I met a wealthy merchant in the capital with a large neck scar caused by anger, suffering for two years without relief. A physician gave him one dose of this powder, which resolved immediately; repeated doses cured him completely in ten days. He sought the formula, which was Bixiao San. I compounded it to help others with success. Danxi also said that combining Bixiao San with Shenxiao Gualou San yields divine results. Usually, two doses combined with tonics are very effective, so it is recorded. Although harsh, it is necessary for deep-seated toxins. However, it is contraindicated for qi and blood deficiency. Another Daoist treated this with seven eggs, each containing one Ban Mao, steamed in rice. One eaten daily on an empty stomach. Many sought this. Books on Scrofula and Materia Medica record it, but it may not suit qi and blood deficiency.
