（杨梅）能调和、利养五脏，生津液。
（石榴皮）味酸、甘，性温。能祛痰止呕，消食下气，生津液，调和利养五脏。能涤荡肠胃，去除烦闷和恶浊之气。烧成灰服用，可截断下痢，效果非常显著。多吃会让人发热、鼻出血，损伤牙齿和筋脉。忌与生葱同食，否则会导致疮疡发作并生痰。杭州、苏州产的最好。青色时味道酸，红色后变成紫色，味道像蜜一样甜。用盐腌制、蜜渍、糖收或火酒浸泡，都很好。（如果树上长了癞疮，用甘草钉钉在上面，就能消除。）根皮，能解砒霜毒。（煎汤漱口治牙痛，洗恶疮，烧成灰后用油调匀，涂在烫伤烧伤处。）
（石榴皮外用功效）涩肠，收敛脱肛，外用可染黑胡须。
味酸、涩，性温。能涩肠，止泄痢和下血。（研末内服。）治疗崩漏、带下、脱肛。（用陈年石榴皮配陈壁土，加少许明矾，浓煎后熏洗，再加五倍子炒研成末，敷上并托举复位。）又能杀虫。浸水后，汁液黑如墨。乌须方中，在绿云油里使用它。它能恋膈导致生痰。痢疾积滞未尽的人，过早服用，反而有害。忌用铁器。酸石榴，治疗泻痢、崩中带下。过量食用会伤肺坏齿。千叶榴花，治疗心热吐血。又研末吹入鼻腔，止鼻血，立竿见影。也可敷在金创出血处。
（银杏/白果）一名白果。味涩，收敛肺气，去浊痰。
味甘、苦，性收涩。熟食能温肺益气。（色白属金，所以入肺经。）定痰哮，敛喘嗽，缩小便，止带浊。（带下浑浊色赤的，是热邪伤了血分，从心和小肠来；色白的，是湿邪伤了气分，从肺和大肠来；都有寒热两种证型；也有因痰导致的带浊，宜用二陈汤加升麻、柴胡、苍术、白术。）生食能降浊痰，解酒毒，消毒，杀虫。（花夜间开放，人看不见，性阴，有小毒，所以能消毒杀虫。）浆液沾手面，可洗涤油腻。（李时珍说：去浊痰的功效，可以类推。）多吃则收涩太过，让人气壅腹胀。小儿吃多了会引发惊风疳积。

(Pomegranate Peel) Sour, sweet, warm. Resolves phlegm, stops vomiting. Promotes digestion, directs Qi downward, generates body fluids. Harmonizes and benefits the five Zang organs. Can cleanse the intestines and stomach. Removes irritability and foul qi. Taken as ash after burning, it stops dysentery. Very effective. Excessive consumption causes fever and epistaxis (nosebleed), damages teeth and sinews. Avoid eating with raw green onions, as it triggers sores and induces phlegm. Those from Hangzhou and Suzhou are the finest. When green, it is sour; after turning red, it becomes purple, tasting like honey. Preserved in salt, honey, sugar, or soaked in strong liquor—all are excellent. (If the tree develops scabies-like growths, driving nails made of Licorice Root into them will eliminate them.) The root bark resolves arsenic poisoning. (Decoct to rinse for toothache, wash malignant sores, burn to ash and mix with oil to apply to burns/scalds.)
(Astringes the intestines, retracts prolapsed rectum, used externally to dye beard black.)
Sour, astringent, warm. Astringes the intestines, stops diarrhea, dysentery, and bloody stool. (Take as powder internally.) Treats metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, and rectal prolapse. (Use aged Pomegranate Peel with soil from old walls, add a small amount of Alum, decoct strongly for fumigation and washing, then add Stir-fried Chinese Gallnut ground into powder, apply and lift/retract.) Also kills parasites. Soaked in water, the juice turns black as ink. Used in hair-blackening formulas within "Lüyun Oil". It can cause phlegm retention in the chest/diaphragm. For those with residual dysenteric accumulation, taking it too early causes harm. Avoid iron vessels. Sour pomegranate treats diarrhea, dysentery, metrorrhagia, and leukorrhea. Overconsumption damages the lungs and teeth. Double-petaled pomegranate flowers treat hemoptysis due to heart heat. Ground into powder and insufflated into the nose, it stops epistaxis immediately. Also applied to traumatic wounds with bleeding.
(Also known as Ginkgo Nut/Amygdalus). Astringent, astringes Lung Qi, resolves turbid phlegm.
Sweet, bitter, astringent. Cooked consumption warms the Lungs and supplements Qi. (White color corresponds to Metal, thus enters the Lung channel.) Stabilizes asthmatic phlegm, astringes wheezing and coughing, reduces urination, stops leukorrhea/turbid discharge. (Reddish turbid discharge indicates heat injuring the Blood level, originating from the Heart and Small Intestine; white indicates dampness injuring the Qi level, originating from the Lungs and Large Intestine; both have cold and hot syndromes; some cases of turbid discharge are due to phlegm, suitable for Er Chen Tang plus Sheng Ma, Chai Hu, Cang Zhu, Bai Zhu.) Raw consumption descends turbid phlegm, resolves alcohol toxicity, disinfects, kills parasites. (Flowers open at night, unseen by humans, Yin nature, slightly toxic, thus capable of disinfection and killing parasites.) Sap stains hands and face, washes away grease. (Li Shizhen said: The efficacy of resolving turbid phlegm can be inferred analogously.) Excessive consumption leads to excessive astringency, causing Qi stagnation and abdominal distension. In children, it triggers convulsions and malnutrition syndromes (Gan disease).
