Deficient-cold of the uterus. Failure of the vaginal opening to close after childbirth. (Apply hot-compress with stir-fried seeds.) Diseases of the Kidney and Mingmen. Soreness and weakness of the lower back, body bi-syndrome (painful obstruction). Leukorrhea, rectal prolapse. As well as stubborn tinea corporis/cruris and malignant sores. (Li Shizhen said: This is a herb acting on the qi level of the Kidney, Mingmen, and Sanjiao. It not only benefits men but also women. Why do people discard this herb and seek tonics from distant regions? Is this not valuing hearsay over what is before one's eyes?) Those with easily agitated Kidney fire should avoid consuming it. Resembles Fennel Seed (Xiaohuixiang) but is finer. Lightly stir-fry to eliminate toxicity so it is no longer pungent/spicy. (Steamed three times mixed with Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata [Dihuangji], which is better.) Incompatible with Moutan Cortex [Danpi], Fritillariae Bulbus [Beimu], and Crotonis Fructus [Badou]. (Shenghui Fang records: For winter throat bi with swelling and pain where oral medication cannot be taken, burn Shechuangzi smoke in a bottle and inhale through the mouth against the bottle opening; phlegm will naturally discharge.)
