Slightly toxic, oviparous.
Perch (Luyu) mainly tonifies the five Zang organs, strengthens sinews and bones, harmonizes the stomach and intestines, and treats water qi disease. It is suitable for frequent consumption. Prepared as dried product, it tastes good. When sun-dried, it becomes very fragrant and delicious; although slightly toxic, it does not cause illness.
(Recorded by Famous Physicians) [Origin] According to careful examination, this fish originates from Songjiang, with a large mouth, fine scales, black spots on the back, and four gills per tail. [Origin] [Tu Jing says] Lives in the Western Sea, size like a gecko (Shou Gong), head shaped like a horse, body curved like a hunchback, with bamboo-joint patterns, 5-6 cun long, belonging to the shrimp family.
