If prepared improperly through steaming or sun-drying, the iron may rust and turn yellow, hindering the spleen and stomach. Previously, it was mixed with Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) powder to prevent stomach damage. Therefore, when using this herb, unless there are no stomach issues, or the condition is extremely critical and yin-cold, otherwise one should exclusively use dried or fresh Di Huang.
