Rhinoceros horn treats wind epilepsy (Wind Epilepsy), palpitations, febrile diseases, and bone-steaming consumption. (Use raw powder for medicine) For urinary retention, (decoct raw and take orally). For polyuria, (burn to ash and take orally). For animal bones stuck in the throat, carbuncles, and various toxins, (grind with water and take orally). The skin treats chancres and non-healing metallic wounds; (burn, grind, mix with oil, and apply externally). The gallbladder brightens the eyes, removes bad breath, treats childhood malnutrition disease, and boils/swellings; (dissolve in water and apply topically). Grind into powder, make pills with honey the size of wu zi seeds. Take 15-20 pills with warm water before bed. Treats excessive wind and phlegm excess, heavy head and eyes, stiffness and spasm of limbs, stagnation of phlegm-saliva, dryness and constipation of intestines/stomach, and difficulty in urination and defecation.

**Xichi Yin (Rhinoceros Horn and Fermented Soybean Drink)**: Rhinoceros horn, Fermented Soybean (Xiangchi), Arctii Fructus (Niubangzi), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjie), Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), Black Gardeniae Fructus (Hei Zhizi), Moelleris Herba (Mabo), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (Beimu), Cicadae Periostracum (Chanyi), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao). Decoct in water. Treats ulcerated throat with hidden rash, wiry pulse, mental vexation, high fever, little sweat, crimson tongue, thirst. If there is tendency to internal collapse with dull spirit, also use Bovis Calculus Pill (Niuhuang Wan).
**Xihuang** main actions: detoxifies, removes heat, calms fright, reduces swelling/swelling. (True Xihuang is rare).
