又调木香末一钱匕。凡泻者去芒硝大黄。秃疮须将药醇酒浸焙研末。每服一二钱。食后滚汤

Indications. Unblocks the meridians and collaterals. Disperses wind from both the interior and exterior. Treats pain in bone joints. Heals metallic wounds (Jin Chuang) and sores/ulcers.
Fangfeng Wan (Saposhnikovia Pill). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Tianma, soaked in wine overnight), Prepared Licorice Root (Zhi Cao), each 2 liang. Grind into powder, make pills with honey. Coat with Cinnabar (Zhusha, 5 qian, levigated with water). Each pill weighs 1 qian. Take at any time, dissolved in Schizonepeta Decoction (Jingjie Tang), tea, or wine. Treats all types of wind and phlegm-heat attacking upward. Symptoms include headache, nausea, stiffness and tension in the neck and back, vertigo, palpitations, weakness in hands and feet, joint pain, slurred speech, deviation of mouth and eyes, mental confusion, phlegm-saliva obstruction, drowsiness and forgetfulness, deficiency heat with restlessness and insomnia.
Fangfeng Shengma Tang (Saposhnikovia and Cimicifuga Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhiren), Ophiopogonis Tuber (Maidong), Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie), Akebia Caulis (Mutong), Puerariae Radix (Gan Ge), Mentha Haplocalyx (Bohe), Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), Arctii Fructus (Niubangzi), Licorice Root (Gancao), each 1 qian. Add 10 stems of Juncus Aromatica (Dengxin). Decoct in water and take orally. Treats pediatric wandering wind and erysipelas (Dan Du). For constipation, add Rhubarb (Dahuang) and Aurantium Fructus (Zhiqiao), each 1 qian. Avoid fishy odors, chicken, and goose. If erysipelas is severe and attacks the heart, it is difficult to save. First take this medicine to resolve internal toxicity, then use magnetic needles to puncture and drain bad blood, so that the toxin disperses with the blood.
Fangfeng Tianma Wan (Saposhnikovia and Gastrodia Pill). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Tianma), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Prepared Typhonii Rhizoma (Baifuzi, processed), Dingfeng Grass, Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (Danshen), Sophora Flavescens Radix (Kushen), Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), Bupleuri Radix (Zishen), Viticis Fructus (Manjingzi), Peucedani Radix (Qianhu), Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo), Manis Squama (Chuanshanjia, fried), Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (Heshouwu, pounded separately into powder), each 1 liang. One centipede. Grind into powder, mix evenly with Polygoni Multiflori powder. For every 2 liang of herb powder, take 1 jin of Sesame Seed (Huma), wash clean, dry, fry until fragrant and cooked, grind separately into very fine powder, and mix evenly with the herb powder. Make pills with honey. Make a total of 90 pills. Chew thoroughly at any time, swallow with warm rice gruel. Three times daily. Eat bland white porridge for 120 days. Strictly avoid sexual intercourse. Must rest carefully and watch one's diet. Treats leprosy (Lifeng/Laiji).
Fangfeng Niubang Tang (Saposhnikovia and Arctium Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Arctii Fructus (Niubangzi), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Akebia Caulis (Mutong). Decoct in water and take orally. Treats blood heat.
Fangfeng Rushen San (Saposhnikovia Miracle Powder). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Aurantium Fructus (Zhiqiao, bran-fried), equal parts. Take 3 qian per dose. Decoct in water and take orally. Treats bleeding after stool due to wind-heat and qi stagnation.
Fangfeng Shaoyao Tang (Saposhnikovia and Peony Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, fried), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, fried), each 2 qian. Grind into coarse powder. Decoct in water and take orally. Treats undigested diarrhea (Xunxie) with body heat, wiry pulse, headache, and abdominal pain.
Fangfeng Qianghuo Tang (Saposhnikovia and Notopterygium Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo), each 1 qian; Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), 2 qian; Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), 7 fen; Prunella Spica (Xiakucao), 2 qian; Arctii Fructus (Niubangzi, fried and ground), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, wine-soaked), Laminaria Thallus (Kunbu, wine-fried and washed), Sargassum Thallus (Haizao, wine-washed), Mentha Haplocalyx (Bohe), each 1 qian; Licorice Root (Gancao), 5 fen; Bombyx Batryticatus (Jiangcan, wine-fried), 2 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Treats wind-toxin and scrofula (Luoli). For initial chills and fever, add Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) for deficiency; add Rhubarb (Dahuang) and Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) for excess.
Fangfeng Qinjiao Tang (Saposhnikovia and Gentian Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, wine-fried), Red Poria (Chifuling), Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), each 1 qian; Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi, raw and ground), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, soaked in rice water and fried), Stemoniae Rhizoma (Huaijiao), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu), Aurantium Fructus (Zhiqiao, bran-fried), Arecae Semen (Binglang), Raw Licorice Root (Shengcao), each 6 fen. Decoct 2 zhong of water to 8 fen. Take warm before meals. Treats intestinal wind bleeding (Changfeng Bianxue). For hard stools, add Rhubarb (Dahuang).
Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Universal Victory Powder). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, baked), Rhubarb (Dahuang, baked), Mentha Haplocalyx (Boheye), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), Mirabilite (Mangxiao), each 5 qian; Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, baked), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), each 1 liang; Talcum (Huashi, flown through water), 3 liang; Raw Licorice Root (Shengcao), 2 liang; Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjiesui), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, earth-fried), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi, fried), each 2 qian 5 fen. Grind into coarse powder. Take 2-3 qian per dose. Decoct with 1 large cup of water, add 3 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), boil to 6 fen. Take warm before meals, or mix with plain water. Treats all wind-dampness, summerheat-dampness, irregular eating and drinking, overwork, pathogenic factors from interior and exterior, depression of qi and blood, excess conditions of the exterior, interior, and Triple Burner. Symptoms include aversion to cold with high fever, dizziness of head and eyes, red eyes and eye pain, tinnitus, nasal congestion, bitter taste in mouth, dry tongue, throat discomfort, thick sticky saliva and snot, cough with rebellious qi, hard stools, dark and scanty urination, sores/ulcers and swelling/toxins, fractures and injuries, hematochezia due to blood stasis, intestinal wind and hemorrhoids/fistulas, convulsions of hands and feet, mania, delirium, erysipelas, macules, carbuncles, and rashes. Resolves seasonal pathogens, cold damage, and all internal/external injuries. For each 1 liang of powder, add 1 liang of Yi Yuan San, 10 stems of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai), 1 he of Fermented Soybean (Yanchi), 5 qian of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), 1 bowl of water. Boil for 1 hour. Take half warm or cold; induce vomiting by tickling the throat with a feather. After vomiting, take the other half slightly warm; sweating will immediately resolve. For dizziness, brain heat, nasal congestion with turbid discharge, add Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) and Mentha Haplocalyx (Bohe), each 2 qian 5 fen per 1 liang. If wind injures the lung causing cough and wheezing, add Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), and Asteris Radix (Ziwan), each 2 qian per 1 liang. For rebellious qi, add Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) powder, 1 qian. For salivary cough, add Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia), 5 qian. For various wind epilepsy and convulsions, hard stools, muscle twitching, palpitations, and pediatric convulsions, add Rhubarb (Dahuang), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi), and Poria (Fuling) powder, each 2 qian per 1 liang. For muscle twitching, mix with Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo) powder, 1 qian. For stroke from alcohol consumption with body heat and headache, add Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis (Huangliantou/Huangliansu context implies specific part, here Huanglian Xu/Coptis rhizome stalks), 2 qian, and 10 stems of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai). Decoct in water. Do not use Ephedra Decoction (Mahuang Tang) or Cinnamon Twig Decoction (Guizhi Tang). When labor sweat meets wind-cold, thinness leads to stagnation and acne. Remove Mirabilite (Mangxiao), double the amount of Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui). For traumatic wind on the exterior, disperse with pungent herbs; for interior, purge with bitter herbs, combined with dispersion. After sweating and purging, unblock Ying blood, dispel wind pathogens. For each 1 liang, add Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjiesui) and Rhubarb (Dahuang), each 2 qian; Scorpio (Quanxie) powder and Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo) powder, each 1 qian. For migratory pain in waist and hypochondrium, add Niter (Xiaoshi), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), and Licorice Root (Gancao), each 2 qian per dose; mix with Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi) powder and Lygodii Spora (Haijinsha) powder, each 1 qian. For stranguria and urinary retention, remove Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), add Talcum (Huashi) and Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao); also mix with Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) powder, 1 qian. For diarrhea, remove Mirabilite (Mangxiao) and Rhubarb (Dahuang). For bald ringworm, soak herbs in strong wine, bake, grind to powder. Take 1-2 qian per dose, mixed with boiling water after meals. Continue until sweating appears on the head. For wind prickles and urticaria (red or white), remove Mirabilite (Mangxiao), double Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), add Fermented Soybean (Yanchi) and Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai). Decoct in water. After inducing sweating, add Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) and Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Decoction to Resolve Toxicity) to the formula, drink three medicines together twice daily. For contusions and injuries with limb/joint pain and stagnant blood in abdomen not descending, add Rhubarb (Dahuang) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), each 3 qian 5 fen per 1 liang; mix with Myrrha (Moyao) and Olibanum (Ruxiang) powder, each 2 qian.

Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Acanthopanacis Cortex (Wujia Pi), Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma (Bixie), Coix Seed (Yiren), Semecarpus Anacardium Bark (Haitong Pi), Aurantium Fructus (Zhiqiao, bran-fried), Red Peony Root (Chishao), Cinnamon Bark (Guixin), Prepared Rehmanniae Radix (Shudihuang), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong, fried removing silk fibers), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi, wine-soaked), each 1 liang; Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Arctii Fructus (Shuniuzi), Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao, shaved), each 7 qian 5 fen. Grind to powder. Take 2 qian per dose with warm wine. Two to three times daily. Avoid raw, cold, greasy foods, and fishy odors. Treats wind-deficiency and chronic strain causing tendon and meridian spasms, and waist/knee pain.
Fangfeng Huangqin Wan (Saposhnikovia and Scutellaria Pill). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, fried until scorched), equal parts. Grind to powder. Make pills with rice paste boiled in wine, size of wu zi (wuyao seeds). Take 30-50 pills per dose. Treats liver meridian wind-heat in women causing hematemesis, metrorrhagia (Xue Beng), hematochezia, and hematuria.
Fangfeng Huangqi Tang (Saposhnikovia and Astragalus Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Astragali Radix (Huangqi), equal parts. Decoct in water and take orally. Treats stroke aphasia with slow and weak pulse.
Fangfeng Danggui Tang (Saposhnikovia and Angelica Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi), each 1 liang. Take 1 liang per dose. Decoct 3 bowls of water to 2 bowls. Take warm. Treats excessive sweating leading to fever, head shaking, jaw lock, opisthotonos (back arching), and traumatic wind caused by excessive diaphoresis with continuous spontaneous sweating. Also treats postpartum blood and qi deficiency and postpartum tetany.
Fangfeng Cangzhu Tang (Saposhnikovia and Atractylodes Decoction). Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), Citrus Reticulata Pericarpium (Chenpi), Peach Kernel (Taoren), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Aurantium Fructus (Zhiqiao), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (N Houpo). Decoct in water and take orally. Treats wind pain.
