Wind-polished Copper [Supplementary Note]
*Yao Xing Kao* (Examination of Drug Properties) states: This refers to naturally formed copper. The current yellow brass is smelted from red copper and calamine.
It tastes pungent. It is suitable for making knives to slice medicinal herbs without altering its nature and flavor. When beaten into foil and used in formulas for traumatic injuries, it can consolidate wounds from metal injuries, strengthen the spleen, benefit the lungs, and eliminate all types of wind-bi syndrome (wind-damp obstruction).
Produced in Xifan (Western Regions), when placed in wind and dew, its color shines like gold. Wearing it eliminates all wind-related diseases.
White Copper [Supplementary Note]

Gold-flower Rivet / Tin Rivet [Supplementary Note]
*Yao Xing Kao* states: Produced in Yunnan, it enters the medicine to calm the heart and benefit the lungs, descend qi, and drop phlegm. Used as powder, it can be applied externally to knit fractured tendons and bones.

Also known as "Horse Bit Iron," this refers to the bit ring chewed in a horse's mouth. Its nature becomes softer with age. Merchants use it to make hairpins, bracelets, and rings, passing them off as silverware, looking exactly like genuine ones. It is also used as a base for gold-plating items, both of which are good. Those aged long have soft textures and have absorbed the essence of the horse, making them excellent for medicinal use.
It tastes pungent; decocting it in water treats infantile convulsions.
Rank Examination: The crown finials (ding) are made of copper plated with gold. For ranks below seventh grade, they are purely gold-plated; for seventh grade and above, they are inlaid with different precious stones. For medicinal use, take the pure copper finial plated with gold to treat cephalalgia due to wind and deviation of the mouth and eyes. *Chuan Xin Fang* records: Yuan Liangchen stated that decocting it in water yields effective results. Old sparrow-tail finials are even better.
*Jue Xie Nüe* records: Yu Ji stated: Take one old, purely gold-plated finial with aged color, place it in a red silk pouch, hide it under the sleeping mat, and do not let the patient know; the disease will heal itself.
Commentary: The finial is placed at the top of the cap, receiving daily fumigation from yang qi, as well as the energy of wind and sun. The older it is, the stronger the acquired qi. All such items currently available can overcome Wood qi. Wind belongs to the Xun trigram, and Xun represents Wood. Therefore, it can treat deviations caused by wind and cure malignant malaria, taking advantage of righteous qi to stabilize the condition.
