This is Renzhongbai (Human Urine Deposit). It is formed by the precipitation and condensation of urine and feces, and also accumulates in urinals aided by dust. Substances entering yin locations shed their color to become white, representing yin within yin.
It enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. This is because essence and qi originally circulate and transmit through the qi transformation of the Spleen and Lung; thus, they return to the Spleen and Lung.
Its flavor is salty, nature is neutral and cool. It treats epistaxis (nosebleed), Chuan Shi Re Lao (a chronic consumptive infectious disease), Fei Wei (Lung Atrophy), heat in the heart and diaphragm, emaciation with thirst, bleeding from sweat on the skin, sores in the mouth and teeth, Zou Ma Ya Gan (gangrenous stomatitis), and can drain Liver Fire, Sanjiao Fire, and Bladder Fire, expelling them via urination (following their original pathways).
Consumed together with Mian Yu (Murren Fish) to make Wulong Dan (Black Dragon Pill), it is used for severe hemorrhage, persistent epistaxis, and bleeding from various orifices. Alternatively, use a piece of Renzhongbai the size of a chicken egg, burn five liang of cotton silk to ash and powder, take two qian per dose, administered with warm water.
For epistaxis persisting for five to seven days without stopping, or for bleeding from sweat on the skin, use dried Renzhongbai from a new tile, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk), mix with warm wine, and administer for immediate effect.
For Da Chuang Dao Xian (inverted pustules in smallpox/variolae), collect Renzhongbai in the twelfth lunar month, calcine into powder, and take three qian with warm water; inverted lesions will naturally emerge.
To treat Zou Ma Ya Gan, scrape the white scum from inside a urinal, place it in a porcelain bottle, seal tightly with salt mud, calcine until red, powder it, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk), and apply topically. Another method uses the white scum from a woman's urinal, calcine one qian, mix with three fen of Tonglv (Malachite) and one fen of Shexiang (Musk), blend evenly, and apply topically; this is particularly miraculous.
For nasal polyps, roast Renzhongbai on a tile, take one qian per dose with warm water. For sores in the mouth and tongue, take seven fen of scum from a urinal, mix with three fen of Kufan (Burnt Alum), powder uniformly. Wipe away saliva before application; it heals after several applications.
[Discussion] The therapeutic principles of human urine have been fully explained previously. Urine and Renzhongbai are essentially the same substance. However, urine flows directly downward without retention, whereas Renzhongbai has a slightly retentive nature. For diseases originating in the Lung, its effects can be exerted gradually; hence, its usage differs slightly. The Classics state: "When fluids enter the Stomach, their essence floats and overflows, moving upward to the Spleen. The Spleen disperses essence, sending it upward to return to the Lung. [The Lung] regulates water passages, transmitting downward to the Bladder." This describes how the essence of food and drink travels from Stomach to Spleen, then to Lung, delivering clear yang to the upper body. This aligns with the concept that Shaoyang belongs to the Kidney, which connects upward to the Lung. Yin-yang within yin rises to the upper, while yang-yin within yang descends to the lower. Thus, blood can be transformed and returned to the vessels. As the Classics say, "The turbid qi of the Lung descends into the vessels." Blood transforming and returning to vessels is called Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi); this is what is meant by regulating water passages. Postnatal water all roots in qi transformation. Qi is primarily governed by the Lung, yet the ability of qi transformation to regulate water passages lies in the capacity of clear yang to transform, allowing turbid yin to move. Therefore, conditions where turbid yin fails to transform, such as blood disorders, should first address the Lung, making treatment of the Lung most appropriate. All upper jiao conditions treated here utilize the transformative power of clear yang to resolve turbid yin. Even inverted pustules result from the failure of clear yang to transform, leading to pathology in turbid yin. To merely claim that salty flavors enter blood and disperse is to fail to investigate the root cause.
[Processing] Scum from old urinals, thickening to over one cun, should be taken and placed in a porcelain dish, exposed in a clean, high location. After one or two years, both inside and out turn white, completely devoid of odor, making it usable. Grind extremely fine, process using the water-floating method multiple times, then grind ten thousand times. If an offensive odor remains, soak and float repeatedly, approximately hundreds of times, until odorless. Calcined forms lose all essence and increase fire toxicity, rendering them unsuitable for use.
