(Dispersion, from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) Tongcao (Caulis Akebiae) and Cheqianzi (Semen Plantaginis), along with Lugu (Herba Siegesbeckiae), Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), and Huashi (Talcum), are ground into powder. Gancao Shao (Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis caulis), Qumai (Herba Dianthi), and Zhizi (Fructus Gardeniae) are added; decoct with Dengcao (Medulla Junci) to relieve pain and dysuria.
(Another formula adds Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae) to treat damp-heat pouring downward, thirst, dry throat, painful dysuria, hematuria, and urgent fullness in the lower abdomen. Tongcao, Dengcao, and Qumai descend Heart Fire into the Small Intestine; Cheqianzi clears Liver Fire into the Bladder; Zhizi drains stagnant Fire of the Sanjiao; Dahuang and Huashi are swift agents for draining fire and promoting urination; Lugu promotes urination to expel dysuria; Gancao Shao enters the urethra to relieve pain. Although it treats the Lower Jiao, it is not exclusively focused on the Lower Jiao; only when the Sanjiao is unobstructed can water fluids descend.)
(Infusion) Shichangpu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii), Gancao Shao (Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis caulis), Wuyao (Radix Linderae), and Yizhi (Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae) are all included. (Use half the dose of Gancao Shao, equal parts for the remaining herbs.) Alternatively, add Fuling (Poria) and decoct with salt. (Add a little salt.) It unites the Heart and secures the Kidney, driving out turbid essence (spermatorrhea, leukorrhea. Bibi (Rhizoma Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae) drains damp-heat from the Jueyin and Yangming meridians, clearing turbidity and distinguishing clarity; Wuyao disperses rebellious Qi and stops frequent urination; Yizhi secures the Spleen and Stomach and opens depression; Shichangpu opens the nine orifices and unites the Heart; Gancao Shao reaches the kidney and urethra to relieve pain, allowing heat-warmth to depart and Heart-Kidney communication to resume, thus Qi transformation proceeds and dysuria/turbidity cease. This method uses dispersion and drainage as a form of prohibition.)
Yizhi (Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae) and Wuyao (Radix Linderae) in equal parts, combined with Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae) made into paste pills for frequent urination needs. (Take with salt water decoction to treat frequent urination and enuresis.)
(Decoction, created by Li Dongyuan) Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), and Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae); Zhuling (Poria), Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), Yinchen (Herba Artemisiae Scopariae), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), and Gegen (Radix Puerariae) are companions. Ershu (Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Chinensis) and Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae)), Kushen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) respond effectively to sores and ulcers caused by damp-heat. [Wash formula: Qianghuo, Fangfeng, Shengma, Zhuling, Zexie, Yinchen, Huangqin (wine-fried), Gegen, Cangzhu (earth-fried), Baizhu (earth-fried), Kushen, Zhimu (both wine-fried), Gancao (roasted). Qianghuo unblocks joints, Fangfeng disperses retained dampness, Kushen, Huangqin, Yinchen, and Zhimu drain heat, Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) harmonizes Qi and Blood, Shengma and Gegen assist Yang to raise clear Qi, Huangqin and Zexie drain dampness and descend turbid Qi, Kushen, Gancao, and Ershu tonify righteousness and secure the Middle, ensuring that bitter-cold does not damage the Stomach and dispersion-drainage does not impair Qi. Liu Zongnong said: This formula was originally by Dongyuan to treat damp-heat Hong Kong foot (podagra/gout), later generations used it to treat various sores, very effective.]
