── Wuben Juan Yi Xia
Carp (Cyprinus carpio), sweet in flavor, neutral in nature. Non-toxic. Boiled and eaten. Mainly treats cough with rebellious qi, jaundice, and stops thirst; treats edema and fullness in the legs, directs qi downward;
One indication is treating body edema during pregnancy and unstable fetal qi; promotes water metabolism and moves qi, benefits urination. Prepared as a soup, it has warming and tonifying effects, dispels cold qi, treats pi masses (abdominal lumps), heng guan (subcostal accumulations), fu liang (epigastric masses), pain caused by knots in the chest and abdomen, calms wheezing, and is also effective for sudden dysentery and regurgitation in both men and women. Avoid eating together with dog meat. The gallbladder, bitter in flavor, cold in nature. Non-toxic. Treats red, hot, and painful eyes, qing mang (blindness or dim vision), brightens the eyes, and strengthens bones and boosts qi with long-term use. Dropped into the eyes, it removes corneal opacities, curing que mang (night blindness). Dropped into the ears, it treats deafness.
── Moban Juan Qi
Jin Xian Yu (Golden Thread Fish), famous in Dian Nan. Produced in Kunming Lake, mostly growing in places with water in stone caves, abundant in Jinning. Sweet and delicious in flavor, neutral and warm in nature. Non-toxic. Mainly treats moistening the five zang organs, nourishing the six fu organs, and promoting fluid distribution to the upper orifices. Treats cold phlegm in the stomach. Consumption nourishes yin, regulates yuan qi, warms the kidney, and adds essence. Long-term use lightens the body and prolongs life.
── Wuben Juan Yi Xia
Black Amur Bream (Mylopharyngodon piceus), sweet in flavor, cold in nature. Non-toxic. Regulates the qi of the spleen, lung, and stomach meridians. Harmonizes the middle, nourishes the liver, brightens the eyes, nourishes yin, regulates yuan qi, warms the kidney, and fills essence. Its gallbladder is an important medicine for ophthalmology.
── Wuben Juan Yi Xia
Yellow Catfish (Pelteobagrus fulvidraco), known as Huang Sang or Huang in "Ben Cao". Sweet and acrid in odor, neutral in nature. Non-toxic. Mainly treats various cold accumulations and痞 masses (lump-like sensations), disperses five types of cold pathogens, and stops nine types of qi pain. Warms the middle and regulates qi, treats deficiency syndromes, but should not be consumed in excess.
