Weng Kentang stated: Mian You Feng Du (Facial Wandering Wind Toxin) arises from accumulated heat within the body, often caused by excessive consumption of pungent and rich flavors, or overuse of metallic and mineral-based rigid medicines. This leads to heat stagnation in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), causing Qi and Blood to boil and manifest as disease, belonging to the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. Initially, there is a slight itching sensation, like insects crawling on the skin; scratching causes damage leading to sores, with pain that is difficult to endure. (From *Zhunsheng*)
*Xinfa* states: This condition appears on the face. In the early stage, the face and eyes swell, itching feels like insects crawling, the skin is dry, and white scales appear frequently, fine as fish scales, followed by extreme itching. Upon scratching, those with abundant Damp-Heat exude yellow fluid (Huang Shui), while those with abundant Wind-Dryness bleed, suffering unbearable pain. All are due to chronic Blood Dryness and excessive intake of pungent and rich foods, resulting in Damp-Heat in the Yangming Stomach Meridian complicated by Wind invasion. For severe itching, use Xiao Feng San (Eliminate Wind Powder) to relieve pain; for severe pain, take Huang Lian Xiao Du Yin (Coptis Decoction for Detoxification) externally apply Mo Feng Gao (Wind-Moving Ointment).

The book states: Heat-toxin malignant sores on the face result from pure wine and roasted foods, where dietary heat-toxins accumulate in the Stomach Fu, manifesting externally. It should be treated primarily with Bai Lian San.
Bai Lian San (White Lead and Coptis Powder)
Ingredients: Cerussa (Hufen), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai, roasted), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) [equal parts].
Preparation: Grind into powder, mix with Pig Fat (Zhu Zhi) for topical application.
Shen Douyuan stated: Unclear Lung Qi combined with Wind invasion causes this, or it results from washing the face with cold water causing hot blood to coagulate. (From *Qixuan*)
Fen Ci (Acne/Pimple) is also known as Fen Pi. It is caused by Lung Heat exposed to Wind, forming these blemishes. Although not harmful to others, it is common among scholars and delicate women, detracting from their appearance. Treatment with Mie Ban Dan can restore facial beauty. (From *Milu*)
Feng Luzhan stated: Fei Feng (Lung Wind) refers to purple-red spines and Urticaria (Yin Zhen) appearing on the nose. (From *Jinnang*)
Chen Shigong stated: Fei Feng belongs to Lung Heat; Fen Ci (Acne), Jiu Zi Bi (Rhinophyma/Alcoholic Nose), and Jiu Ci (Alcoholic Pimples) belong to the Spleen Meridian. These four names are similar, all caused by stagnant and un-dispersed Blood Heat. Additionally, those fond of drinking have residues from the Stomach steaming the Lungs. As the classics say, "What exists internally manifests externally," one must distinguish which meridian is affected to treat it. (From *Zhengzong*)
He further stated: Jiu Ci is colloquially known as Gu Zui Chuang (Grain Mouth Sore).
He further stated: Regarding Jiu Ci and Jiu Zi Bi on the face, one must strictly avoid scratching or squeezing with hands. Instead, use good non-ash salt stir-fried. If itchy, rub with the fried salt; if bleeding or weeping occurs, press the salt onto the wound to stop it immediately. Long-term use eliminates the root cause.
