Mix calcined stone (Duan Shi) and alkali water evenly to a slightly viscous consistency. Take ten grains of glutinous rice, insert them into the ash mixture. After a short while, when the rice grains slightly swell, use the medicated rice grain to adhere it onto each nevus (mole), one grain per nevus. Allow it to detach naturally, so that the blackened skin adheres to the rice grain.
(Attached Formula)
Scrofula (Luo Li, lymphatic tuberculosis of the neck) occurring on the head, in both axillae, or on the chest can be treated with cauterization/corrosion methods. However, treat only one or two areas at a time; wait for them to slough off before treating other areas. The method involves drawing a black circle around the scrofula nodule and applying the medication within the circle. Prolonged application causes pain; if no pain is felt, apply again. The degree of pain is the standard. Do not remove the medication. Once the area appears slightly sunken and black, the nodule will naturally discharge on the third day. If the nodule is loose but difficult to detach, take four seeds of Croton tiglium (Badou) and a pinch of cooked rice, pound them into a cotton-like strip, place it around the nodule, and seal it externally with a plaster. Change every three days until natural detachment occurs. Subsequently, apply Shengji San (Flesh-Regenerating Powder). Healing will occur within ten days. For areas on the neck where the skin is smooth and tender, application causes immediate corrosion; for areas with thick flesh, thick application is permissible, as thin application results in shallow corrosion and thick application results in deep corrosion.
(Addendum)
Place Qichun mugwort leaves (Qiai Ye) in a winnowing basket and rub them into moxa wool. Pack the wool tightly in paper to form a stick, roughly the diameter of a brush handle. Fold coarse paper two or three times and place it over the affected area. Ignite the moxa stick and burn through the paper onto the lesion. Stop immediately upon feeling pain. If blisters form, puncture them with a needle; they will heal naturally once the fluid dries. If ulceration occurs, apply Songxiang Gao (Pine Rosin Plaster). This method is called "Shooting Fire" (She Huo) in other regions, and physicians also refer to it as "Thunder-Fire Needle" (Leihuo Zhen). It is used for conditions such as madness, bi-syndrome (painful obstruction), crane-knee wind (swelling of the knee joint), swelling, and gout.
After taking the first dose of pills, use the moxa stick to burn away necrotic muscle tissue in a circular pattern around the lesion, ensuring no part is left untouched. Avoid burning acupoint fire directly. Upon taking the second dose of pills, begin moxibustion on specific acupoints. On the upper body, moxa-burn both Jianjing (GB21) points, both Quchi (LI11) points, Zhaoyao point, and Hukou point. If the pathogenic wind has subsided, proceed to moxa-burn the Duiyan point. On the lower body, moxa-burn both Fengmen (BL12) points, Sanli point, Yudu point, Jiemi point, and Duangen point. Adjust according to the condition; moxa-burn 3–5 moxa cones (zhuang) or 7–8 zhuang per acupoint.
Duiyan Point: Located at the back of the head, directly opposite the eyes.
Jianjing Point (GB21): Raise the arm; the depression naturally formed at the posterior aspect of the shoulder is this point.
Quchi Point (LI11): Located at the elbow crease, between the two bones of the humerus and ulna/radius junction.
Zhaoyao Point: Located at the joint on the dorsum of the hand.
Hukou Point: Located between the thumb and index finger.
Fengmen Point (BL12): Located between the thigh bones. The person should stand upright and steady; the point is where the middle finger sinks into the depression.
Sanli Point: There are inner and outer points; the one being moxa-burned here is the Outer Sanli. Have the person flex from the hand down along the upper knee; the point is found in the depression palpated by the finger.
Yudu Point: Located below the popliteal fossa (knee bend), in the area resembling the shape of a fish belly but without a deep depression.
Jiemi Point: Located on the dorsum of the foot, at the site of the main tendon.
Duangen Point: Located between the first and second toes of the foot.
