Pediatric eyelid growths originate inside the eyelids; initially small, they gradually enlarge and obscurely rub against the pupil. Redness, dryness, and excessive tearing indicate Spleen-Stomach Heat (Pi Wei Re). Treatment involves hook-cutting or washing to remove stasis and redness, followed by Qingwei San (Clear Stomach Powder) containing Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed), Dajun (Rhubarb), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Heiqin (Scrophularia Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Feng (Saposhnikovia Root).
[Note] The condition of pediatric eyelid growths occurs within the eyelids. Initially resembling a hemp seed, it gradually grows to the size of a bean over time, obscuring and rubbing against the pupil, causing redness, dryness, and tearing. This is caused by accumulated Heat in the Spleen and Stomach obstructing upwards. First, use manual techniques, either hook-cutting or washing, to dissipate external blood stasis; then use Qingwei San (Clear Stomach Powder) to clear internal Heat.
Formula: Qingwei San (Clear Stomach Powder)
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Jiegeng (Platycodi Radix), Shenjin (Scrophulariae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (each 1 qian).
Grind into coarse powder. Decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains. Strain and take warm after meals.
Pediatric Gan Eye (Malnutrition Eye) stems from Liver-Spleen pathology, presenting with swelling, pain, dryness, tearing, and nebula covering the pupil. Symptoms include nail-biting, nose-rubbing, and prone sleeping. Treatment uses Fei'er Wan (Fetus-Enriching Pill), incorporating Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), and Tiyi (Meliosmae Fructus).
[Note] Pediatric Gan Eye (Malnutrition Eye) initially arises from dietary injury to the Spleen. Over time, Liver Heat rushes upward, causing severe swelling and pain that makes opening the eyes difficult, along with dull pain, dryness, and excessive tearing. A white membrane gradually forms, with nebula obscuring the cornea. External signs include frowning, nail-biting, nose-rubbing, a preference for prone sleeping, and reluctance to lift the head. Siwei Fei'er Wan (Four-Ingredient Fetus-Enriching Pill) is suitable; long-term administration yields efficacy.
Formula: Siwei Fei'er Wan (Four-Ingredient Fetus-Enriching Pill)
Shenqu (Fermented Mass of Medicinal Substances) (stir-fried), Maiya (Germinated Barley Fruit) (stir-fried), Wuyi (Meliosmae Fructus), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (stir-fried) (equal parts).
Grind into fine powder, mix evenly, bind with water paste to form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 1 qian per dose, administered on an empty stomach with plain boiled water.

[Note] The condition of pediatric strabismus may be due to fright or physical shock, causing both eyeballs to turn inward, with deviated gaze—looking east but seeing west, looking left but seeing right.
