气味甘、寒，无毒。主身热泄 ，女子乳难，癃闭；利小便，荡胃中积聚寒热，
益精气。久服轻身，耐饥长年。
按∶滑石气寒，得寒水之气入手足太阳；味甘入足太阴；且其色白兼入手太阴。所主诸
病，皆清热利水之功也。益精延年，言其性之循不比他种石药偏之为害也。读者勿泥。
气味甘、温，无毒。主心腹咳逆邪气，补不足，女子风寒在子宫，绝孕十年无
子。久服温中，轻身延年。
陈修园曰∶紫石英气温，禀木气而入肝；味甘无毒，得土味而入脾。咳逆邪气者，以心
腹为脾之部位，人之呼吸，出心肺而入肝肾，脾居中而转运，何咳逆之有？惟脾虚受肝邪之
侮，不能下转而上冲，故为是病；其主之者，温能散邪，甘能和中，而其质又重而能降也。
补不足者，气温味甘，补肝脾之不足也。风寒入于子宫，则肝血不藏，脾血亦不统，往往不
能生育，脾土之成数十，所以十年无子也；紫石英气温可以散子宫之风寒，味甘可以补肝脾
之血也。久服温中轻身，延年者，夸其补血纳气之力也。
按∶白石英治略同，但紫色属阴，主治冲脉血海，多在下功。白为金色，主治消渴，兼
理上焦之燥。
气味甘、平，无毒。主黄胆，泄痢，肠 脓血，阴浊下血赤白，邪气痈肿，疽
痔恶疮，头疡疥瘙。久服补髓益气，肥健不饥，轻身延年。五色石脂，各随五色补五脏。
陈修园曰∶赤石脂气平禀金气，味甘得土味，手足太阴药也。太阴湿胜，在皮肤则为黄
疸，在肠胃则为泄痢，甚则为肠 脓血；下注于前阴，则为阴蚀并见赤白带下；下注于后阴
，则为下血；皆湿邪之气为害也。石脂具湿土之质，而有燥金之用，所以主之。痈肿、疽痔
恶疮、头疡疥瘙等证，皆湿气郁而为热，热盛生毒之患；石脂能燥湿化热，所以主之。久服
补髓益气、肥健不饥、延年者，湿去则津生，自能补髓益气，补髓助精也、益气助神也；精
神交会于中土，故有肥健不饥，轻身延年之效也。
【滑石】
气味：甘、寒，无毒。主治身体发热、腹泻，妇女乳汁不通，小便淋漓或闭塞；通利小便，清除胃中积聚的寒热邪气，补益精气。长期服用可使人身体轻盈，耐饥渴，延年益寿。
按语：滑石气寒，禀受寒水之气，归入手太阳小肠经和足太阳膀胱经；味甘，归入足太阴脾经；且其色白，兼入手太阴肺经。其所主治的各种疾病，都是清热利水的功效。所谓“益精延年”，是形容其药性温和顺遂，不像其他矿物药那样有偏颇之害。读者不要拘泥于字面意思。
【紫石英】
气味：甘、温，无毒。主治心腹部的气逆咳嗽及邪气，补益不足，妇女因风寒侵袭子宫导致的不孕症（十年无子）。长期服用可温暖中焦，使身体轻盈，延年益寿。
陈修园说：紫石英气温，禀受木气而进入肝脏；味甘且无毒，禀受土味而进入脾脏。所谓“心腹咳逆邪气”，是因为心腹是脾所主的部位，人的呼吸，气从心肺呼出，进入肝肾，脾居中焦负责转运，怎么会发生咳逆呢？只有当脾虚受到肝邪的克制，不能向下运转反而向上冲逆时，才会出现这种病证；紫石英之所以能主治此病，是因为其温性能散除邪气，甘性能调和脾胃，且其质地沉重具有降逆的作用。所谓“补不足”，是指其气温味甘，能补益肝脾的不足。风寒侵入子宫，会导致肝血不藏，脾血也不统摄，往往导致不能生育，这是脾土生成之数所致，所以十年无子；紫石英气温可以驱散子宫的风寒，味甘可以补益肝脾的血分。长期服用温暖中焦、身体轻盈、延年益寿，是夸大其补血纳气的功效。
按语：白石英的治疗作用大致相同，但紫色属阴，主要主治冲脉和血海，多在下方发挥作用。白色属金，主要主治消渴症，兼理上焦的燥热。
【赤石脂】
气味：甘、平，无毒。主治黄疸，腹泻痢疾，肠道化脓出血，前阴浑浊下血及赤白带下，邪气引起的痈肿，疽、痔、恶疮，头部疮疡及疥癣瘙痒。长期服用可补益骨髓，益气，使身体丰满健壮而不饥饿，身体轻盈，延年益寿。五色石脂，各自根据颜色补益对应的五脏。
陈修园说：赤石脂气平，禀受金气，味甘，禀受土味，是手足太阴经的药物。太阴湿邪过盛，在皮肤则表现为黄疸，在肠胃则表现为腹泻痢疾，严重则导致肠道化脓出血；湿邪下注于前阴，则导致阴部蚀烂并见赤白带下；下注于后阴，则导致便血；这些都是湿邪为害的结果。石脂具有湿土的质地，却具备燥金的功用，所以能主治上述病症。痈肿、疽、痔、恶疮、头部疮疡、疥癣瘙痒等证候，都是湿气郁结化为热，热盛而生毒的祸患；石脂能燥湿化热，所以能主治这些病症。长期服用补髓益气、身体丰满健壮而不饥饿、延年益寿，是因为湿气去除则津液滋生，自然能补髓益气，补髓以助精，益气以助神；精神在中焦交汇，所以有身体丰满健壮、不感饥饿、身体轻盈、延年益寿的效果。
[Shihuo (Talcum)]
Odor and Flavor: Sweet, Cold, Non-toxic. It primarily treats fever of the body, diarrhea, difficulty in lactation in women, stranguria or urinary retention; it promotes urination, sweeps away accumulated cold and heat in the stomach, and benefits essence and qi. Long-term use makes the body light, withstands hunger, and prolongs life.
Commentary: Shihuo has a cold nature, inheriting the Qi of cold water to enter the Hand-Taiyang and Foot-Taiyang meridians; its sweet flavor enters the Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridian; moreover, its white color also enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung meridian. All the diseases it treats are due to its functions of clearing heat and promoting diuresis. The phrase "benefits essence and prolongs life" refers to its gentle nature, which does not cause harm like the biased effects of other mineral drugs. Readers should not be dogmatic about this.
[Zhi Shiyong (Fluorite))
Odor and Flavor: Sweet, Warm, Non-toxic. It primarily treats epigastric and abdominal rebellious Qi with coughing and pathogenic factors, tonifies deficiencies, and treats infertility in women caused by Wind-Cold invading the uterus (ten years without children). Long-term use warms the Middle Jiao, makes the body light, and prolongs life.
Chen Xiuyuan said: Zhi Shiyong has a warm nature, inheriting Wood Qi to enter the Liver; its sweet and non-toxic flavor inherits Earth flavor to enter the Spleen. Regarding "epigastric and abdominal rebellious Qi with coughing," since the epigastrium and abdomen are the domains of the Spleen, and human respiration involves Qi exiting from Heart-Lung and entering Kidney-Liver, with the Spleen residing in the center to transport, how can there be rebellious Qi? Only when the Spleen is deficient and bullied by Liver Pathogens, failing to descend and instead rushing upward, does this disease occur. Zhi Shiyong treats this because its warmth can scatter pathogens, its sweetness can harmonize the Middle, and its heavy substance can descend. "Tonifying deficiencies" means its warm nature and sweet flavor tonify Liver and Spleen deficiencies. When Wind-Cold enters the uterus, Liver Blood fails to store, and Spleen Blood fails to control, often resulting in inability to conceive; this is related to the numerical generation of Spleen Earth, hence ten years without children. Zhi Shiyong's warm nature can scatter Wind-Cold in the uterus, and its sweet flavor can tonify Liver and Spleen Blood. Long-term use warming the Middle, making the body light, and prolonging life exaggerates its power to tonify Blood and grasp Qi.
Commentary: Bai Shiyong (White Fluorite) has similar treatment effects, but purple belongs to Yin, primarily treating the Chong Mai and Sea of Blood, acting mostly in the lower part. White belongs to Metal, primarily treating Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst), and also regulating dryness in the Upper Jiao.
[Chishi Zhi (Red Kaolin)]
Odor and Flavor: Sweet, Neutral, Non-toxic. It primarily treats jaundice, diarrhea and dysentery, intestinal pus and blood, turbid discharge and red-and-white leukorrhea from the anterior orifice, pathogenic carbuncles, ulcers, hemorrhoids, malignant sores, head sores, and scabies. Long-term use supplements marrow, benefits Qi, makes the body plump and strong without hunger, makes the body light, and prolongs life. The five-colored Shi Zhi each supplement their corresponding Five Zang organs according to their colors.
Chen Xiuyuan said: Chishi Zhi has a neutral nature, inheriting Metal Qi, and a sweet flavor, inheriting Earth flavor; it is a drug for the Hand-Taiyin and Foot-Taiyin meridians. When Taiyin Dampness prevails, it manifests as jaundice on the skin, and as diarrhea/dysentery in the intestines and stomach; severely, it causes intestinal pus and blood; if it sinks downward to the anterior orifice, it causes genital erosion and red-and-white leukorrhea; if it sinks downward to the posterior orifice, it causes bleeding; all these are harms caused by Damp Pathogens. Shi Zhi possesses the substance of Damp Earth but the function of Dry Metal, thus treating these conditions. Carbuncles, ulcers, hemorrhoids, malignant sores, head sores, and scabies are all disorders where Dampness stagnates and transforms into Heat, and excessive Heat generates Toxicity; Shi Zhi can dry Dampness and transform Heat, thus treating them. Long-term use supplementing marrow, benefiting Qi, making the body plump and strong without hunger, and prolonging life occurs because removing Dampness generates Jin Ye (Body Fluids), naturally supplementing marrow and Qi; supplementing marrow assists Jing (Essence), and benefiting Qi assists Shen (Spirit); when Jing and Shen intersect in the Middle Jiao, the effects of being plump, strong, free from hunger, light-bodied, and long-lived are achieved.
