Wind Wheel Corresponds to Liver Wood
The East generates Wood Qi, and Wood Qi generates Wind. The internal organ belongs to the Liver, located in the two eyes. Irregular eating habits (alternating hunger and fullness) generate Heat-Toxin, causing eye pain with nebulae formation, where Heat invades the pupil.
Blood Wheel Corresponds to Heart Fire
The Heart belongs to the South Fire, associated with the Heavenly Stems Bing and Ding. Wind-Heat flows into the Zang-Fu organs and stagnates there. Redness and dryness occur at the canthi (eye corners), and distant vision becomes blurred, resembling a copper ring or shattered stars.
Flesh Wheel Corresponds to Spleen Earth
The Spleen belongs to the Central Earth, holding the most honorable position. Pterygium (fleshy growth) climbs onto the cornea like dark clouds covering it. The eyelids become swollen and painful, with photophobia and dryness. Red meridians invade, and opacities affect the cornea.
Qi Wheel Corresponds to Lung Metal
Stagnation in the Lungs generates Heat-Toxin. The entire eyeball feels slightly as if dripping milky fluid. By using cooling herbs to circulate and clear the intestines and stomach, one can avoid dimness and involvement of the Blood Wheel.
Water Wheel Corresponds to Kidney Water
The Kidneys are originally invaded by pathogenic factors (Thieves' Evil), which ascend to both eyes, causing internal visual disturbances (seeing flowers). One clearly sees butterflies dancing together; do not wait until vision is blurred like being covered by fog.
Guanquan Palace
The Small Intestine Fu organ belongs to the Guanquan Palace. Disease typically transmits first from the Heart and Gallbladder. Excessive hot tears and itching occur at the eye corners; regulating the meridians leads to natural recovery.
Yanghua Palace
Disease in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) hides within the Liver. Exposure to summer heat and wind often irritates the eyes. If cold-natured pathogens remain stagnant in the Middle Jiao, continuously administering hot medicines makes the condition unbearable.
Baoyang Palace
Embracing True Yang internally is the Mingmen (Gate of Life). Visual hallucinations occur, making colors difficult to distinguish. If the Kidneys cannot be tonified and the Liver and Gallbladder regulated, red meridians interlace, and Heat has a root cause.
Chuandao Palace
Chuandao represents the Scholar, rooted in the original meridian. Stagnation in the Lungs allows Wind-Heat to invade. If the Taiyang channel is treated in accordance with the syndrome, recovery is expected; however, during the stage of obstruction, nebulae invade the cornea.
Shuigu Palace
Dietary Qi damages the Spleen and accumulates in the Stomach. Combined with accumulated Heat, the two clash. The eyelids gradually swell and invade the reddened cornea. Without resolving the stagnation in the Middle Jiao, Heat cannot flow freely.
Jinye Palace
The Bladder governs Water, and the Kidney is the source of Yuan Qi. Cold and Heat conflict, creating a state of standoff. Cyan-red nebulae appear within the palaces; only skilled hands can remove them.
Qingjing Palace
Vision is indistinct, as if in fog, or as if a hand obscured by fog blocks the pupil. Accompanied by frequent cold tearing, this is caused by deficiency-cold attacking the Liver.
Huiyin Palace
Diseases of the Kidney have specific causes: excess alcohol and sexual activity, along with excessive Qi stagnation and worry. Do not dismiss eye pain as harmless; endure the outcome of nebulae enveloping the cornea.
The eyes are the sun and moon of heaven and earth. When heaven and earth are pure and clear, the sun and moon shine brightly; when heaven and earth are dim, the sun and moon suffer eclipse. The classics state: "The eyes correspond to the Liver, flourishing during the three months of Spring, serving as the spiritual treasure of Hun."
The eyes are windows through which all things are seen. Likes, dislikes, right, and wrong are naturally distinguished. From youth to old age, various diseases arise because care and nourishment deviate from propriety, causing eye disorders. People who frequently eat heating foods, consume the Five Pungent Spices, experience unregulated anger and joy, lack restraint in sexual desire, expose themselves to cold and summer heat, sit in dampness facing the wind, shout excessively, cry wildly, stay awake all night without rest during the day, gaze intensely at high places, focus deeply on distant objects, dwell long in smoke and fire, engage in gambling for extended periods, practice intricate needlework or embroidery for years, carve and engrave, read fine print under lamplight, or read by moonlight—all these dissipate essence and severely damage the eyes. Furthermore, hunting, trekking through frost and snow, exposing oneself to the sun and wind day and night without cessation are all causes of eye damage. Indulging in momentary pleasure becomes the root of eye disease. Therefore, since illness arises in the eyes, one must be cautious in all matters of self-cultivation. Preserving vitality throughout life ensures freedom from worry and eternal protection against eye disorders.
