The *Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion* (*Huangdi Neijing*) states: The Lung governs the skin and hair of the body; the Heart governs the blood vessels of the body; the Liver governs the sinews (tendons and ligaments) of the body; the Spleen governs the muscles of the body; the Kidney governs the bone marrow of the body. Therefore, if heat in the Lung causes the lung leaves to wither and dry up, the skin and hair will become weak, tight, and thin; if the condition persists, it leads to Wei Syndrome (a syndrome characterized by flaccidity and weakness of the limbs). Generally, the onset of Wei Syndrome is inevitably due to excessive sexual indulgence damaging the essence, causing Kidney Water to become deficient and failed, unable to control Ministerial Fire. Fire overacts on Lung Metal, resulting in Lung heat and withered lung leaves. It is also said: In treating Wei Syndrome, one should exclusively focus on the Yangming channel. The Yangming channel is the sea of the five zang and six fu organs, governing the nourishment of Zongjin (the gathering of sinews at the genital region). Zongjin can bind the bones and facilitate joint movement. If there is heat in the Yangming channel, Zongjin loses nourishment, leading to foot flaccidity. When Kidney water is exhausted and fire is abundant, there must be accompanying dry lips and astringent urination. Although seminal emission may resemble pig fat or paste, the pulse is floating, large, surging, and rapid. The appropriate treatment is to strengthen water to control fire, tonify qi and blood, and strengthen sinews and bones. Frequent heat in the feet indicates fire arising from Yongquan (KI 1), requiring prevention of Wei Syndrome.
