Patient Zhang: In childhood, he experienced alternating chills and fever, cold limbs, poor appetite, and diarrhea. He was treated as having malaria, which led to mental fatigue, a sallow complexion, and a deep pulse. There was a risk of developing slow convulsions (Man Jing Feng), so it was urgent to regulate Spleen Yang. Initially, Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) was used with a small amount of Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), after which his hands and feet became warm. Subsequently, Yigong San (Yigong Powder) was used exclusively, with Lotus Seeds (Lian Zi) and Red Dates (Da Zao) added to regulate the Spleen; the fever subsided and diarrhea stopped.
Patient Yu: Hypochondriac pain and acid regurgitation had ceased, and Liver Fire was completely extinguished. However, there was qi stagnation in the epigastrium, dry mouth without hunger, and an unharmonious right pulse, indicating that Stomach Yin had not yet recovered. Sandshen (Glehniae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus), Xiaomai (Tritici Fructus), and Sugarcane Juice were prescribed. After three doses, the condition stabilized.
Patient Jiang: The left pulse was floating and hooked, while the right pulse was wiry and moderate. There was chronic pain in the epigastrium, which eased slightly after eating. This was caused by hunger injuring the Spleen collaterals. The classics state: "The Spleen desires relaxation; urgently consume sweet flavors to relax it." Do not use methods to soothe the Liver or suppress vital energy. The prescription included Ludangshen (Codonopsis Radix), Danggui Xu (Angelicae Sinensis Radix Fibrae), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Yitang (Maltose), Hongzao (Red Date), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Muli Fen (Concha Ostreae Powder), Nuodaogen Xu (Oryzae Indicae Radix Fibrae), and Jiangxiang Mo (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum). After several doses, the patient recovered.
