For a female destiny corresponding to the Yi-You day, in a patient suffering on the Gui-Wei day, the governing Qi is Gui Fire (Gui Huo Yun), and the Earthly Branch Wei corresponds to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. Placing Wei upon Chen and advancing clockwise to You, above lies Zi. Zi belongs to Shaoyin Fire, constituting a Lianggan disease (disease affecting both exterior and interior simultaneously).
(New added verse) The flow of Qi in the four Zhong months should be sought from 'Ji', but when encountering Ji and Meng months, it resides at the 'Dragon Head' position.
Most people commonly use the disease transmission method from the *Hongsi Jing* (Red Silk Classic), which completely loses the principles of creation and nature found in the *Suwen* (Basic Questions of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), and lacks any discussion on Five Movements and Six Qi (Wuyun Liuqi theory). (Ma Zongsu narrates: The Huangdi Yuji Mikey Jiyao disease transmission method is not recorded in the *Suwen*. Those who study it must first understand the reversals,順逆 (shunni), victory and revenge (shengfu), and creative transformations of the Five Movements and Six Qi, as well as the prosperity and phase states of the four seasons. Treatment must adjust to the four seasons, and all methods used first look to the Si Tian (Director of Heaven) day.)
The Jialin (adding and approaching) method transmitted by Master Sang: In Spring, Wood is Wang (prosperous), Fire is Xiang (secondary prosperous), Earth is Si (dead), Metal is Qiu (imprisoned), Water is Xiu (resting); the situation is the same for Jia and Yi days. In Summer, Fire is Wang, Earth is Xiang, Metal is Si, Water is Qiu, Wood is Xiu; the situation is the same for Bing and Ding days. In Autumn, Metal is Wang, Water is Xiang, Wood is Si, Fire is Qiu, Earth is Xiu; the situation is the same for Geng and Xin days. In Winter, Water is Wang, Wood is Xiang, Fire is Si, Earth is Qiu, Metal is Xiu; the situation is the same for Ren and Gui days. In the four seasons' transition months (Chen, Xu, Chou, Wei), Earth is Wang, Metal is Xiang, Water is Si, Wood is Qiu, Fire is Xiu; the situation is the same for Wu and Ji days.
When Si Tian (Director of Heaven) and Yun (Movement/Qi) are the same, it is named Tianfu Star (Heavenly符/Token). For example, on Wu-Zi day, Wu represents Fire Movement, and Zi represents Fire Qi; this is merely Tianfu. Illness occurring on this day carries half danger/severity.
When Yun (Movement) and Zhi (Earthly Branch) are the same, it is called Suihui (Year Meeting). For example, on Jia-Chen day, Jia represents Earth Movement, and Chen represents Earth Branch; this is Suihui, and illnesses obtained are generally severe. The situations for Year, Month, and Hour follow this pattern.
Yun (Movement) and Zhi (Earthly Branch) are the same. For example, on Wu-Wu day, Wu represents Fire Movement, Wu represents Fire Qi, and it is also a Fire Branch; this is called Taiyi Tianfu (Great One Heavenly Token). If these three days encounter auspicious Yun and benevolent stars, nine out of ten die, one survives. The situations for Year, Month, Day, and Hour are all the same.
The daily branch name of the current day is Si Tian. The three branches preceding Si Tian are named Zai Quan (In泉/Spring Below), referred to as Si Di (Director of Earth). The left and right interstitial Qi are referred to as Si Ren (Director of Human). For example, on Jia-Zi day, Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian governs Si Tian. The three preceding branches are Ding-Mao Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, which is Zai Quan, i.e., Si Di. Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian is the Right Interstitial Qi, and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian is the Left Interstitial Qi; these constitute Si Ren.
