Add the fifty-nine days after the Jiaosi (the moment of solar term transition) to the Si Tian Hua Shu (number of transformation of the ruling Qi), the Zhi Shu (Earthly Branch number), and the Gan Qian Shu (Heavenly Stem migration number). The sum of these three numbers is calculated. For Taiyin Shitu (Taiyin Damp Earth), the Zhi Shu is five. Regarding the Gan Qian Shu, the Gui stem resides in the Chou position and does not migrate further, thus counting as only one position. Adding one number to three positions yields eleven. Adding this to the fifty-nine days of Jiaosi results in a total of seventy. Advancing two places converts this into seven thousand. The *Tianyuan Yuce* states: for Yang years, subtract forty-nine; for Yin years, add forty-five. Since the year of Gui Chou is a Yin year, we add forty-five, resulting in a total of seven thousand and forty-five. Dividing this by forty-five leaves a remainder of five, which determines the Yuanshou Gong (Head Palace). Dividing by five again corresponds to the Tianqin Gong (Heavenly Bird Palace), because the Yuanshou Gong first subtracted five. The Yunqi (Luck and Qi) does not enter the Zhonggong (Central Palace) nor stack six, but operates within four palaces. In the year of Gui Chou, the Si Tian (Ruling Qi) is located in the fourth palace, which is the Tianfu Gong (Heavenly Assistant Palace).
In the years of Shen, Zi, and Chen, it is a Yi-Liu Tian (One-Six Heaven), transitioning at the beginning of the Yin hour (Da Han solar term transitions at the first minute of the Yin hour, marking the start of the First Qi). This refers to the transition of the Si Tian Qi (Ruling Qi). In the years of Si, You, and Chou, it is an Er-Liu Tian (Two-Six Heaven), transitioning at the first minute of the Si hour. From the Yin hour to the Si hour, there are twenty-six ke (quarter-hours), marking the transition of the First Qi of the Si Tian. In the years of Yin, Wu, and Xu, it is a San-Liu Tian (Three-Six Heaven), transitioning at the first minute of the Shen hour. From the Yin hour to the Shen hour, there are fifty-one ke, marking the transition of the First Qi of the Si Tian. In the years of Hai, Mao, and Wei, it is a Si-Liu Tian (Four-Six Heaven), transitioning at the first minute of the Hai hour. From the Yin hour to the Hai hour, there are seventy-five ke, marking the transition of the First Qi of the Si Tian.
A full day and night is calculated as one hundred ke. Each shi (two-hour period) consists of eight ke and twenty fen (minutes), where sixty fen equals one ke. For example, in the year of Gui Chou, which is an Er-Liu Tian, the transition occurs at the first minute of the Si hour. Calculating backward from the first minute of the Si hour to the first minute of the Yin hour (water clock time): the Yin hour has eight ke and twenty fen, the Mao hour has eight ke and twenty fen, and the Chen hour has eight ke and twenty fen. These three hours total twenty-four ke. Adding the twenty fen from each of the Yin, Mao, and Chen hours totals twenty-six ke. At this point, the Taiyin Shitu (Taiyin Damp Earth) Si Tian Qi is received. The segment of Jueyin Fengmu (Jueyin Wind Wood) occupies twenty-six ke. Prior to this, it belongs to the last twenty-six ke of the previous year's Taiyang (Taiyang Solar Qi); thereafter, it belongs to this year's Jueyin Fengmu.
