Pinelliae Rhizoma (prepared with ginger and alum) 2 qian (drachm), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white part removed) 1 qian, Poria 1 qian, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma 5 fen.
Take the above ingredients, add one zhong five fen of water, add one slice of fresh Ginger, decoct until eight fen remains, and take warm.
Erchen Tang (Two-Aged Decoction) is the ancestral formula of ancient times. Wang Ang stated that it specifically targets the Spleen and Stomach meridians, resolving phlegm and removing dampness. Upon careful examination by me, its efficacy lies in unblocking the orifices of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner). The term "Chen" (aged) refers to Yin pathogens lingering for a long time.
Maoshan Atractylodis Rhizoma (coarse skin removed, soaked in rice wash water) 5 liang, Zinihoupo (Magnolia Bark, skin removed, stir-fried with ginger juice) 3 liang 2 qian, Guangchenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white part removed) 3 liang 2 qian.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, with one lamp of water, three slices of ginger, and two dates. Decoct together until seven parts remain, and take warm.
The Stomach is the organ of water and grain, whose Qi originates at Shen hour. When food and drink enter the Stomach, they are divided into three pathways; the pathway of waste descends into the Small Intestine, transmits to the Large Intestine, and reaches the Lower Jiao. Grain ferments here to produce qi.
Trichosanthis Radix 3 qian, Cinnamomi Ramulus 1.5 qian, Paeoniae Radix Alba 2 qian, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma 1.5 qian, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens 3 slices, Jujubae Fructus 2 pieces.
Take the above six herbs, boil in three sheng of water until one sheng remains, remove the dregs, and take warm to induce slight sweating. If sweat does not occur, after a short while, consume hot congee to promote sweating. (Dosages follow Yu Jiayan's commentary on the *Jin Gui Yao Lue*, where various chapters are often discussed together. Sometimes the pathogen differs but the disease is in one meridian; sometimes the pathogen is the same but the disease affects different meridians. Treatment must be differentiated according to syndrome, all aligning perfectly. For instance, in Taiyang Jing and Shi diseases, besides fever, anhidrosis, and aversion to cold, there is additionally stiffness and rigidity of the body, and the pulse is instead deep and slow. This clearly indicates Wind-Dampness mixing and disturbing the Taiyang meridian, where Yang Qi is stagnant due to Dampness and cannot circulate freely; this is not the deep-slow pulse caused by Cold pathogens. Treatment uses Gualougen Guizhi Tang (Trichosanthes Root and Cinnamon Twig Decoction): for Wind, the established method of Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) is used; for Dampness, Trichosanthis Radix is the sovereign herb. Sour and bitter enter Yin, penetrate internally to the collaterals, resolve epidemic heat to lower dampness, combined with Cinnamon Twig to harmonize Ying and Wei to treat Jing (stiffness/spasm).)
