Wisheng Tang (Reed Stem Decoction).
The above one formula.
Weijing (Reed Stem) refers to the stem of Phragmites communis, with leaves removed. Waitai Miyao (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold for Emergencies) writes it as "Chuanwei" (Cut Reed). It also quotes Zhang Zhongjing's Shanghan Lun (Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases), stating: "Yeye qie yi sheng" (One sheng of cut reed leaves); thus, it appears that both stems and leaves are used.
Baitu Tang (White Tiger Decoction), Baitu Jia Renshen Tang (White Tiger Plus Ginseng Decoction), Baitu Jia Guizhi Tang (White Tiger Plus Cinnamon Twig Decoction), Suanzao Ren Tang (Sour Jujube Seed Decoction).
The above four formulas.
Mainly treats Fanre (Vexing heat; internal restlessness accompanied by fever).
The syndrome of Baitu Tang is described as: "Biao you re" (Heat in the exterior). It also states: "Li you re" (Heat in the interior). The syndrome of Baitu Jia Renshen Tang is described as: "Da fan ke" (Severe vexation and thirst). It also states: "Biao li ju re" (Heat in both exterior and interior), "She shang zao gan er fan" (Dryness and vexation on the tongue). It also states: "Fa re" (Fever). It also states: "Shen re er ke" (Body heat and thirst). The syndrome of Suanzao Ren Tang is described as: "Xu fan" (Deficiency vexation; mental restlessness due to deficiency). Now, based on these various syndromes, it can be known that Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) can treat Fanre (Vexing heat).

Maziren Wan (Hemp Seed Pill).
The above one formula.
Maziren (Hemp Seed) is suspected not to be the modern Cannabis sativa or Linum usitatissimum (Flaxseed). There is separate research on this matter, which will not be repeated here.
Tugua Gen San (Trichosanthes Root Powder), Tugua Gen Dao Fa (Trichosanthes Root Enema Method).
The above two formulas.
Tugua Gen San is written as Wanggua Gen San in Mai Jing (Pulse Classic). Materia Medica texts vary between calling it Tugua (Solomon's Seal root? Note: Context implies Trichosanthes/Edible Gourd root) or Wanggua (Melon root). Li Ji Yue Ling (Rites of Zhou: Monthly Ordinances) states: "Zuo Wanggua sheng" (Make Wanggua grow). Lüshi Chunqiu (Master Lü's Spring and Autumn Annals) writes it as "Wangshan". Huainanzi also writes it as "Wanggua"; thus, the character "Tu" (Earth) is likely an error for "Wang" (King/Royal). It should be called Wanggua Gen San (Wanggua Root Powder).
Wanggua (Benincasa hispida var. chieh-kuwa / Edible Gourd), its shell has a diameter of one cun, a length of approximately two cun, round at the top and pointed at the bottom, ripens between autumn and winter, is red-cherry colored, and its seeds resemble the head of a mantis.
