[Yin Yang Water]
Also known as Shengshu Tang (Decoction of Raw and Cooked Water). It has a sweet and salty taste, is non-toxic. It is prepared by mixing newly drawn cold water with freshly boiled hot water evenly.
[Indications] Primarily regulates the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner) and aids digestion. For conditions involving phlegm-malaria or swelling caused by retained food and toxic/evil substances, where Huoluan (Cholera-like syndrome) is about to occur, immediately add salt to the water and drink one to two sheng (approx. 200-400ml).
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Sanjiao Meridian (Triple Energizer Channel). It is a substance that harmonizes Yin and Yang.
[Preliminary Discussion] Ma Zhi stated: The Upper Jiao (Upper Burner) governs reception; the Middle Jiao governs transformation; the Lower Jiao governs excretion. When the Sanjiao is unobstructed and fluid, Yin and Yang are harmonized, and the ascending and descending movements circulate freely, thus stabilizing the Zang-Fu organs.
[White Pigeon]
It has a salty taste, is neutral in nature, and non-toxic. It is generated by inheriting the Qi of Water and Metal.
[Indications] Primarily detoxifies various medicinal poisons, and treats chronic scabies in humans and horses. (Jia You Ben Cao / Compendium of Materia Medica Supplement) It can nourish essence and boost Qi, treating malignant sores, scabies, wind-rash, vitiligo, etc.
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Kidney Meridian, and also enters the Lung Meridian. It is a substance for nourishing essence and boosting Qi.
[Preliminary Discussion] Zhong Chun stated: Most drugs have hot properties. Since the pigeon inherits the Qi of Metal and Water, it can resolve various drug poisonings.
[Contraindications] Ben Cao Yan Yi (Supplement to Materia Medica) stated: Although the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing records its ability to nourish essence and boost Qi, its utility lies mainly in dispelling wind and resolving toxicity, and it may not necessarily benefit everyone. Therefore, Meng Shen said... [Text incomplete].
[Wulingzhi / Trogopterus Dung]
It has a sweet taste, is warm in nature, and non-toxic. It originates from northern regions. It is the feces of the Hanhao Chong (Noctule bat). It has a descending action and belongs to "Yin within Yin." It is incompatible with Renshen (Ginseng Root) and is damaging if misused.
[Indications] Primarily treats cold qi in the heart and abdomen, pediatric Wu Gang (Five Kindling diseases), dispels epidemics, treats Chang Feng (Wind in the Intestines/Bloody Stool), promotes free flow of Qi and blood vessels, and treats amenorrhea in women. (Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing) Promotes harmony of blood vessels. For blood stasis causing hernia pain, triggering chills, etc.
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Liver Meridian. It is a substance for moving blood and relieving pain. (Note: This is a Blood-level herb for the Liver Meridian; it enters the Liver most rapidly and serves as a guiding herb, but it only moves blood and does not generate blood.)
[Preliminary Discussion] An stated: Wulingzhi is not the primary treatment for metrorrhagia (uterine bleeding); rather, it is a wind-dispelling agent. When the Chong and Ren meridians are deficient and the Ying-Blood is injured by wind pathogens... [Text incomplete]. Pulse is vigorous.
Commentary: Wulingzhi specializes in dispersing blood stasis and moving blood, yielding remarkable effects. There was a woman who attempted suicide by hanging at midnight. Her family rescued her; although she regained consciousness, the next day her whole body turned blue and purple... [Text incomplete]. She recovered.
[Contraindications] Ben Cao Yan Yi stated: Contraindicated in cases of abdominal pain due to Blood deficiency, amenorrhea due to Blood deficiency, dizziness after excessive blood loss in postpartum women, pain due to Heart deficiency with Fire, and any case of Blood deficiency without stasis.
[Processing] Lei Gong stated: This material often contains sand and stones, making it extremely difficult to process. When used, it must be ground into fine powder, decocted in wine to remove sand and stones, then dried and stored. Li Shizhen stated: This drug has a very dry and unpleasant odor. The granules are as large as beans. Collected specimens may appear paste-like or sticky/clumped like sugar. Some people mix sand and stones to sell it, therefore... [Text incomplete].
Commentary: Liu Yuxi stated: The Hanhao Chong has four feet, fleshy wings, and can fly, though not very far. From this, we know that although named a 'worm/insect', since it can fly, it belongs to the bird category... [Text incomplete].
