按语:干疳既然是五脏津液枯竭所致,就应当用人参白术散、加减八味丸之类的方剂进行补益滋润,如果专门依赖以上这些丸药,恐怕没有痊愈的道理。
The body suffers from persistent high fever, occasionally accompanied by aversion to cold. The tongue is dry and astringent with thirst in the mouth. The child sleeps excessively and sweats profusely at night (night sweating). The skin is dry and rough, hair stands erect and becomes brittle. Although milk and food intake are abundant, muscles waste away, limbs are weak, and the spirit is lethargic with excessive sleepiness. Day after day, the condition deteriorates into emaciation; this is the clinical presentation. Emaciation with blood deficiency, a dry tongue, and frequent crying indicate that the disease resides in the Heart. Fixed gaze without eye movement, and crying without tears, indicate that the disease resides in the Liver. Fever with scanty urine and cold hands and feet indicate that the disease resides in the Kidney. Hoarse voice, dry skin, and dry, hard stools indicate that the disease resides in the Lung. Perioral ulcers, drowsiness, and dryness/thirst in the chest and epigastrium indicate that the disease resides in the Spleen.

Commentary: Since Dry Gan syndrome involves the depletion of the Five Zang organs, it should be treated with tonifying and moistening formulas such as Renshen Baizhu San or Jiaban Bawei Wan. Relying solely on the aforementioned pill formulas is unlikely to lead to a cure.
