The meridians passing through the anterior yin region are two: one is the Liver Meridian, and the other is the Du Meridian. The Classics state: The Foot Jueyin (Liver) Meridian enters the pubic hair area, passes through the genitalia, and reaches the lower abdomen; this is where the Liver Meridian passes. It also states: The Du Meridian originates from the central bone below the lower abdomen. In women, it enters and connects to the Ting Kong (urethral opening), follows along the genitalia; in men, it follows along the penis down to the perineum, identical to the path in women; this is where the Du Meridian passes.
[Yin Contraction and Flaccidity] Yin contraction refers to the anterior yin contracting into the abdomen due to cold invasion. Yin flaccidity refers to the anterior yin becoming erect and elongated without retracting due to heat invasion. The Classics state: The sinews of the Foot Jueyin Meridian, when injured by cold, cause the yin to contract inward; when injured by heat, they cause flaccidity and erection without retraction. Treatment should involve promoting water metabolism to clear yin heat. Danxi treated a brother-in-law named Bao, aged over twenty, whose penis was erect, swollen, and flaccid, with loose, moist skin, unable to walk due to friction against the thighs, with qi rising in both hypochondria, and weak, fatigued limbs. He first used Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) added with Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) in large doses to move damp-heat, slightly adding Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) to descend the rebellious qi. The erection and swelling gradually subsided, reducing by half, but a hard mass remained in the penis. He then used Qing Pi (Tangerine Peel) as the sovereign herb, assisted by powder of wind-dispersing agents taken internally, and externally applied persimmon juice mixed with Wu Bei Zi (Galla Chinensis) powder, resulting in recovery. A son of the Wang family in Pingjiang, aged thirty, suddenly experienced penile erection, swelling, and pain, with a rapid and excess pulse. He was immersed in a decoction of Xiaoshi (Natrii Sulfas) and Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba) and cured by vigorous purgation with San Yi Cheng Qi Tang (Three-One Releasing the Constraint Decoction). The Classics record one method for acupuncture and moxibustion for penile erection: The Classics state: The collateral branch of the Foot Jueyin Meridian is named Ligou (LR5), located five cun above the medial malleolus, diverging to the Shaoyang (Gallbladder) Meridian. Its excess syndrome manifests as erection; treating its divergent point is indicated. Cases of death due to yin contraction diagnosed in the Classics all belong to liver injury. The Classics state: If grief moves the interior, the Hun (Ethereal Soul) is injured. When the Hun is injured, madness and lack of clarity occur; lacking clarity leads to impropriety. One should expect yin contraction and tendon cramping, inability to lift the hypochondriac bones, emaciated hair, and sallow complexion, dying in autumn. It also states: At the termination of the Jueyin Meridian, there is frequent urination, tongue curling, and retraction of the testicles.
[Yin Impotence] Yin impotence is caused by excessive depletion and injury to the Liver sinews. The Classics state: Diseases of the Foot Jueyin Meridian, if injured internally, result in non-elevation (impotence). An excessively large Kidney pulse indicates yin impotence. In the context of Six Qi transformation, yin impotence belongs to damp-earth restraining the Kidney. The Classics state: When Taiyin (Too-Yin) governs the year, dampness descends, and Kidney qi responds upward, leading to yin impotence, where qi declines and erection fails. Zhang Zhongjing's Ba Wei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) treats frequent impotence. Based on the preceding formula, Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) and Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) are reduced by half in summer, and by one-third in spring and autumn. After the disease resolves and essence is sufficient, Gui Zhi and Fu Zi are completely removed, relying solely on Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia). (This method applies to internal injury.) For yin impotence with weakness, cold testicles, profuse sweating in the genitalia like water, residual dripping with a fishy odor after urination, coldness in the sacrum and anterior yin, aversion to cold with preference for warmth, and cold knees: this is damp-heat in the Liver Meridian. Gu Zhen Tang (Solidify the True Decoction) or Chai Hu Sheng Shi Tang (Bupleurum Dampness-Overcoming Decoction) are suitable. (This method applies to dampness restraining the Kidney.) A large Kidney pulse, especially at the Right Chi position, indicates flourishing Minister Fire causing reverse impotence. Zi Shen Wan (Nourish the Kidney Pill) or Feng Sui Dan (Phoenix Marrow Pill) are suitable.
[Genital Sweating, Fishy Odor, Coldness, and Itching] For genital sweating and itching, roast garlic, peel it, mash it finely, mix with Dan Dou Chi (Soja Semen Praeparatum) powder, form pills the size of paulownia seeds, coat with Zhu Sha (Cinnabar). Take thirty pills each time with two jujubes and several stems of Deng Xin Cao (Junci Medulla) decocted in water, taken on an empty stomach. For persistent genital sweating, take Qing E Wan (Blue Bird Pill) internally, and externally apply Lu Gan Shi (Calamina) one part and Zhen Ge Fen (Concha Tridacnae) half part as dry powder. Alternatively, use Mi Tuo Sen (Litharge) and Chuang Zi (Cnidii Fructus) powdered together. Dongyuan treated a wealthy man who constantly smelled a fishy odor in the anterior yin, and due to days of drinking, had abdominal discomfort. The anterior yin is the pathway of the Foot Jueyin Meridian, connecting the genitalia and emerging at the tip of the penis. Odors are governed by the Heart, dispersing into the five directions to become various smells; entering the Liver, it becomes a fishy odor. This is one aspect. One should reduce Xing Jian (LR2) in the Liver Meridian to treat the root. Later, reduce Shao Chong (HT9) in the Heart Meridian to treat the branch. If one dislikes needles, medication should be used. Treatment must seek the root. Days of drinking generate damp-heat from the flavor and aroma of wine; wind-damp-heat combines in the Lower Jiao as pathogenic factors. Thus, the Classics state: The Lower Jiao is like a ditch. And: What is below should be drained away. Wine is damp-heat water, which should also be drained via the anterior yin, combining the two treatments for the Lower Jiao. Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Drain the Liver Decoction) is suitable. Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) enters the Liver as a guiding herb; Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen), and Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis) have light and penetrating flavors that promote urination and remove fishy odor, termed "draining what is below." Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) and Cao Long Dan (Gentianae Scabrae Radix) are bitter and cold, draining wine-induced damp-heat, combined with Che Qian Zi etc. to eliminate pathogenic qi in the Liver. The Liver governs blood; Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) nourishes insufficient Liver blood. For sallow complexion, yellow body, weak legs, genital sweating, and poor color of the penis: Wen Shen Tang (Warm the Kidney Decoction) is suitable. For anterior yin feeling ice-cold with cold sweat, and weak legs: Bu Gan Tang (Tonify the Liver Decoction) is suitable. For yellow, fishy-smelling, dribbling urine, ice-cold testicles, genital sweat soaking the thighs, and cold glans, during the freezing cold of December with frost and snow: Qing Zhen Tang (Clear and Raise Decoction) is suitable. For cold bilateral external kidneys, genital sweat at the hip joints, anterior yin impotence, and damp-itchy, fishy scrotum: Chai Hu Sheng Shi Tang (Bupleurum Dampness-Overcoming Decoction) is suitable. The *Qian Jin Fang* records a case of genital coldness where cold air gradually entered the scrotum causing fullness, fear of death, day-and-night painful oppression, and insomnia. Raw Sichuan pepper was selected, washed, wrapped in cloth, and applied to the scrotum with a thickness of half cun. Soon, warm qi flowed freely. Changed twice daily, removal led to recovery. The *Ben Shi Fang* records a case of genital coldness where cold air gradually entered the scrotum causing fullness, day-and-night oppressive pain, and insomnia. Decocted Da Ji (Cirsii Japonici Herba) juice was taken, leading to immediate recovery. For wet-itchy anterior yin testicles, worse in autumn and winter, lighter in winter: Jiao Fen San (Pepper Powder Powder) is suitable. For scrotal wet-itchiness, first wash with Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) decoction. Then use Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) 0.5 liang, Han Shui Shi (Halloysit Rubrum) 3 qian, Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) 2.5 qian, Zhang Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum), Chuang Zi (Cnidii Fructus) each 0.5 liang, Qing Fen (Calomelas) 1 qian, Bai Fan (Alumen) 3 qian, Liu Huang (Sulfur) 2 qian, Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) 3 qian, Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) 3 qian, grind into powder and apply.
[Genital Swelling and Pain] Wind-heat lodging in the Kidney Meridian, with Kidney deficiency failing to disperse, causes swelling and intermittent pain. Sheng Hui Chen Xiang San (Agarwood Powder) is used. Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) 5 qian, Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) 1 liang, Dan Shen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix), Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Bai Ji Li (Tribuli Fructus) de-spined and stir-fried, Zhi Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Preparatus), Chi Fu Ling (Poria cum Radix Pini Rossea) each 7.5 qian, taken warm on an empty stomach. For swelling with qi sensation, attacking up and down causing distension and oppression: Sheng Hui Mu Xiang San (Costus Root Powder) is used. Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) 0.5 liang, Chi Fu Ling (Poria cum Radix Pini Rossea) 1 liang, Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) each 7.5 qian, Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) 0.5 liang, Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) 1 liang, Yu Li Ren (Pruni Semen) 1 liang, soaked in water, skin removed, lightly stir-fried, ground into powder, taken with warm wine before meals. Xiao Pan Cong San (Small Scallion Powder), Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) raw materials, combined to four liang, according to the formula add Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) 0.5 liang, Hui Xiang (Foeniculi Fructus) stir-fried 8 qian, Chuan Lian Rou (Toosendan Fructus) 0.5 liang, decocted with ginger and scallion, taken on an empty stomach. For unbearable swelling and pain: Xiong Huang (Realgar) 2 liang ground, Bai Fan (Alumen) 2 liang, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 2 chi, boiled in three sheng of water, bathed while slightly hot. Also, chicken wing burned to ash, ground into powder, taken with porridge drink on an empty stomach, two qian. If affected on the left, take the left wing; if on the right, take the right wing. Also, take Fu Long Gan (Uterus Earth) mixed with egg white for application. Or, Mash Chi Xian Cao (Portulacae Herba) for juice, or Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) peeled and mashed, or Chuang Zi (Cnidii Fructus) powder mixed with egg yolk; any of the three can be applied. For pain: Ku Lian Pi (Meliae Cortex) sun-facing root, Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) ground into powder, pillified with vinegar paste. Taken with hot wine at any time. For sudden stabbing pain with profuse sweating: Xiao Suan (Allium Macrostemon Bulbus) 1 sheng, Jiu Gen (Allii Tuberosi Rhizoma et Radix) 1 jin, Yang Liu Gen (Salicis Ramulus) 1 jin, chopped, boiled in three sheng of wine until boiling, fumigate while hot. Penile pain is due to Jueyin Meridian qi stagnation combined with heat; use Gan Cao Shao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma - tip) to soothe the qi. If pain occurs with strangury, it cannot be generalized. One must clear Lung qi, so that clear and turbid separate naturally. For qi deficiency, Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction); for blood deficiency, Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction), etc., each added with Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Hua Shi (Talcum), Shi Wei (Pyrrosiae Folium), Hu Po (Electrum), etc. For women with genital swelling and Kidney pain: Zhi Shi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) 0.5 jin, chopped, stir-fried hot, wrapped in cloth, applied as compress, changed when cool.
[Yin Blowing] Stomach qi descending, causing audible flatulence from the vagina, indicates excess grain qi. Gao Fa Jian (Fat and Hair Decoction) guides it out.
