抑阳酒连散 治神水紧小，渐如菜子许，及神水外围相类虫蚀者，然皆能睹物不昏，微
有 羞涩之证。
生地黄 独活 黄柏 防风 知母 防己（各三分） 蔓荆子 前胡 羌活 白芷 生
甘草（各四分） 黄芩（酒制） 栀子 寒水石 黄连（酒制。各五分）
水二盏，煎至一盏，去滓，大热服。
上方抑阳缓阴之药也。以生地黄补肾水真阴为君，独活、黄柏、知母俱益肾水为臣，
蔓荆子、羌活、防风、白芷群队升阳之药为佐者，谓既抑之，令其分而更不相犯也。生
甘草、黄芩、栀子、寒水石、防己、黄连寒而不走之药为使者，惟欲抑之，不欲祛除也。
酒制者，为引导也。
还阴救苦汤 鼻碧云散（俱目赤。）
羊肝丸 镇肝明目。
羯羊肝（一具，新瓦盆中爆了，更焙之，肝大止用一半） 甘菊花 羌活 柏子仁 细辛 官
桂白术 五味子（各半两） 黄连（七钱半）
上为细末，炼蜜丸，如梧子大。空心食前温汤下三四十丸。
《千金》补肝散 治自失明。
青羊肝（一具，去膜薄切，以瓦瓶子未用者，入肝于中，炭火炙之，为极细末） 决明子（半升）

上为末，食后服方寸匕，日二，加至三匕，不过一二剂。能一岁服，可夜读细书。
养肝丸（《济生》） 治肝血不足，眼目昏花，或生眵泪。

枳实（各等分）
上为末，炼蜜为丸，如桐子大。每服七十丸，熟水送下，不拘时。一方，无川芎、枳实。
地黄丸（一名菊花丸） 治用力劳心肝虚，风热攻眼，赤肿羞明，渐生翳膜。兼肝肾风毒
热气上冲目痛。久视伤血，血主肝，故勤书则伤肝而目昏。肝伤则木生风而热气上凑，目
昏亦盛。不宜专服补药，当益血镇肝，而目自明矣。
熟地黄（一两半） 甘菊花 防风 光明朱砂 羌活 桂心 没药（各半两） 决明子 黄

上为细末，炼蜜丸，如梧子大。每服三十丸，食后熟水下，日三。
晋范宁尝苦目痛，就张湛求方，湛戏之曰∶古方，宋阳子少得其术，以授鲁东门伯，
次授左丘明，遂世世相传，以及汉杜子夏，晋左太冲，凡此诸贤，并有目疾。得此方云∶省
读书一，减思虑二，专内视三，简外观四，旦起晚五，夜早眠六。凡六物，熬以神火，下
以气筛，蕴于胸中，七月然后纳诸方寸，修之一时，近能数其目睫，远视尺 之余。长
服不已，非但明目，且亦延年。审如是而行，非可谓之嘲戏，亦奇方也。
补肝汤 治肝虚两胁满痛，筋脉拘急，不得喘息，眼目昏暗，面多青色。
防风（去杈） 细辛（去苗） 柏子仁 白茯苓（去皮） 官桂（去粗皮） 山茱萸 蔓荆子（去浮皮）
桃仁（汤浸，去皮尖双仁，炒） 甘草（微炒，各等分）
上 咀，每服五钱，水一盏半，大枣二枚擘破，同煎至八分，温服，无时，日再。
雷岩丸 治男妇肝经不足，风邪内乘上攻，眼睛泪出，羞明怕日，多见黑花，翳膜
遮睛，睑生风粟，或痒或痛，隐涩难开；兼久患偏正头风，牵引两目，渐觉细小，视物
不明，皆因肾水不能既济肝木。此药久服，大补肾脏，添目力。
枸杞子 菊花（各二两） 肉苁蓉 巴戟（酒

补肾丸 治肾气不足，眼目昏暗，瞳人不明，渐成内障。

驻景丸 治肝肾虚，眼昏翳。

为末，炼蜜丸，桐子大。每服五十丸，食前白茯苓、石菖蒲汤任下。又方，加枸杞子一两半，尤佳。
加减驻景丸 治肝肾气虚，视物KT KT ，血少气多。

白附子散 治发散初起黑花，昏蒙内障。

上水煎，食后服。
补肾磁石丸 治肾肝气虚上攻，眼目昏暗，远视不明，时见黑花，渐成内障。
磁石（火 红醋淬） 甘菊花 石决明 肉
苁蓉（酒浸，切，焙） 菟丝子（酒浸一宿，慢火焙干。各一两）
上为细末，用雄雀十五只，去毛、嘴、足，留肚肠，以青盐二两，水三升，同煮令雄雀
烂，水欲尽为度，取出先捣如膏，和药末为丸，如梧子大。每服二十丸，空心温酒送下。

三仁五子丸 治肝肾不足，体弱眼昏，内障生花，不计近远。

上为细末，研匀，以胆汁同炼蜜搜和丸，如桐子大。每服二十丸，食后米饮送下。
熟地黄丸（见瞳神散大。）
摩顶膏 治肝肾虚风上攻，眼生黑花，或如水浪。
空青（研） 青盐（研。各半两） 槐子 木香 附子（各一两） 牛酥（二两） 鹅脂（四两） 旱莲草（自
然汁一升） 龙脑（半钱） 丹砂（二钱半，研）
上为细末，先以旱莲草汁、牛酥、鹅脂银器中熬三五沸，下诸药末，煎减一半即止，
盛瓷器中。临卧用旧铧铁一片，重二三两，蘸药于顶上摩二三十遍，令人发窍中，次服决
明丸。忌铁器。
又方 治眼前见花，黄黑红白不定。
附子（炮制，去皮脐） 木香（各一两） 朱砂（二钱半） 龙脑（半钱） 青盐（一两半） 牛酥（二两） 鹅
脂（四两）
上将前药为末，同酥、脂以慢火熬成膏。每用少杵，不拘时，顶上摩之。
决明丸 治眼见黑花不散。
决明子 甘菊花（各一两） 防风（去芦） 车前子 芎 细辛 栀子仁 蔓荆子 玄参
白茯苓 薯蓣（各半两） 生地黄（七钱半）
上为细末，炼蜜和捣二三百杵，丸如梧子大。每服二十丸，食后煎桑枝汤送下，日三。
白龙粉 治肾水衰虚，肝经邪热，视物不明，或生障翳， 肉攀睛，或迎风泪出，眼
见黑花，或如蝇飞，或如油星，或睛涩肿痛，或痒不可忍，并皆治之。
上用硝三斗，于二九月造，一大罐热水化开，以绵滤过，入银器或石器内煎至一半
以上，就锅内放温，倾银盆内，于露地放一宿，次日结成块子，于别水内洗净，再用小
罐热水化开熬，入萝卜二个，切作片子同煮，以萝卜熟为度，倾在瓷器内，捞萝卜不用，于
露地露一宿，次日结成块子，去水，于日中晒一日，去尽水，入好纸袋盛，放于透风日
处挂晒，至风化开成用，逐旋于乳钵内日晒研极细。点眼如常法。亦名玄明粉。
煮肝散 治眼生黑花，渐成内障，及斗睛偏视，风毒攻眼，肿痛涩痒，短视，倒睫，雀目。
羌活（去芦） 独活（去芦） 青葙子 甘菊花（各一两）
上为细末，每服三钱匕，羊子肝一叶锉细，淡竹叶数片，同裹如粽子，别用雄黑豆
四十九粒，米泔一碗，银石器内同煮，黑豆烂泔干为度。取肝细嚼，温酒下，又将豆食
尽，空心、日午、夜卧服。
服椒方 治肝肾虚风上攻，眼目生黑花，头目不利，能通神延年。用川椒一斤，拣净，
去目及合口者，于铫内炒令透，于地上铺净纸二重，用新盆合定，周回用黄土培之半日，
去毒出汗，然后取之，曝干为度，只取椒于瓷盒子内收。每日空心，新汲水下十粒。
芎 散 治目晕昏涩，视物不明。
芎 地骨皮 荆芥穗 何首乌（去黑皮） 菊花 旋复花 草决明 石决明（刷净） 甘
草（炙。各一两） 青葙子 蝉蜕（去土） 木贼（各半两） 白芷（二钱半）

磁石丸 治眼因患后起早，元气虚弱，目无翳膜，视物昏暗，欲成内障。
磁石（二两， 醋淬七次，杵碎，细研水飞过） 肉苁蓉（一两，酒浸一宿，刮去皱皮，炙令干） 菟丝
子（酒浸五日，曝干，另研为末，三两） 补骨脂（微炒） 巴戟（去心） 石斛（去根） 远志（去心） 熟地黄（各
一两） 木香 五味子 甘草（炙赤） 桂心（各半两）
上为细末，研匀，炼蜜和捣二三百杵，丸如梧子大。每服三十丸，食前温酒送下。一方，有茯
神，无远志、石斛。
四物五子丸 治心肾不足，眼目昏暗。
当归（酒浸） 川芎 熟地黄 白芍药 枸杞子 覆盆子 地肤子 菟丝子（酒浸，炒）
车前子（酒蒸，量虚实加减。各等分）
上为细末，炼蜜和丸，如桐子大。每服五十丸，不拘时，盐汤送下。
杞苓丸 治男子肾脏虚耗，水不上升，眼目昏暗，远视不明，渐成内障。
枸杞子（四两，酒蒸） 白茯苓（八两，去皮） 当归（二两） 菟丝子（四两，酒浸，蒸） 青盐（一两，另研）
上为细末，炼蜜和丸，如桐子大。每服七十丸，食前用白汤送下。
《瑞竹》四神丸 治肾经虚损，眼目昏花，补虚益损，及云翳遮睛。
甘州枸杞子一斤，（拣色赤滋润者，以酒一杯润之，分作四分，一分同川椒一两炒，一分同小茴香
一两炒，一分同芝麻一合炒，一分独炒用）
炒过，将川椒等筛去不用，再加熟地黄、白术、白茯苓各一两，共为细末，炼蜜和丸，
如梧子大。每服五七十丸，空心温酒送下。或加甘菊花一两。
夜光丸（一名双美丸） 治眼目昏暗及诸疾，兼退翳膜。
抑阳酒连散：治疗神水（房水）紧缩变小，逐渐如菜籽大小，以及神水外围类似虫蚀的情况。然而这些症状都能看清物体而不昏花，仅有轻微的羞明涩痛之证。
生地黄、独活、黄柏、防风、知母、防己（各三分），蔓荆子、前胡、羌活、白芷、生甘草（各四分），黄芩（酒制）、栀子、寒水石、黄连（酒制，各五分）。
用水二盏，煎至一盏，去渣，大热服用。
上方是抑制阳气、缓和阴气的药物。以生地黄补肾水真阴作为君药，独活、黄柏、知母都辅助益肾水作为臣药，蔓荆子、羌活、防风、白芷这一群升阳的药物作为佐药，意思是既然要抑制它，就让它们分开而不再互相侵犯。生甘草、黄芩、栀子、寒水石、防己、黄连这些寒凉但不走窜的药物作为使药，只想要抑制它，不想要祛除它。用酒炮制，是为了引导药力。
羯羊肝（一具，在新瓦盆中爆炒，再焙干，肝脏大的只用一半）、甘菊花、羌活、柏子仁、细辛、官桂、白术、五味子（各半两）、黄连（七钱半）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。空腹饭前用温开水送服三四十丸。
《千金》补肝散：治疗突然失明。
青羊肝（一具，去掉膜薄切，用未用过的瓦瓶子，将肝放入其中，用炭火烤炙，研成极细末）、决明子（半升）、蓼子（一合，熬出香味）。
以上研为末，饭后服用方寸匕，每日两次，加量至三次匕，不超过一两剂。如果能坚持服用一年，可以夜间阅读细小的书籍。
养肝丸（出自《济生方》）：治疗肝血不足，眼目昏花，或者产生眵泪（眼屎和眼泪）。
当归（酒洗）、车前子（酒蒸，焙干）、防风（去芦头）、白芍药、蕤仁（另研）、熟地黄（酒蒸，焙干）、川芎、枳实（各等分）。
以上研为末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用七十丸，用温水送下，不拘时间。另一配方，没有川芎、枳实。
地黄丸（又名菊花丸）：治疗因用力劳心导致肝虚，风热攻眼，眼睛红肿胀痛、羞明，逐渐生出翳膜。兼治肝肾风毒热气上冲引起的目痛。久视伤血，血主肝，所以勤于书写就会伤肝而导致目昏。肝受伤则木生风而热气上凑，目昏也会加重。不宜专门服用补药，应当益血镇肝，眼睛自然明亮了。
熟地黄（一两半）、甘菊花、防风、光明朱砂、羌活、桂心、没药（各半两）、决明子、黄连（各一两）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用三十丸，饭后用温水送下，每日三次。
晋朝范宁曾受目痛之苦，向张湛求方，张湛戏弄他说：“古方，宋阳子年轻时得到此术，传授给鲁东门伯，接着传授给左丘明，于是世代相传，传到汉代的杜子夏，晋朝的左太冲，凡是这些贤人，都有眼疾。得到这个方子说：减少读书一次，减少思虑二次，专心内视三次，简省外观四次，早起晚睡五次，早睡早起六次。这六件事，用神火煎熬，用气筛过滤，蕴藏在胸中，经过七月然后纳入方寸之心（指心神或丹田）。修习一时，近能数清睫毛，远视一尺有余。长期服用不停止，不仅能明目，也能延年。如果确实这样去做，不能说是嘲弄玩笑，也是奇方。”
补肝汤：治疗肝虚导致的两胁满痛，筋脉拘急，不能喘息，眼目昏暗，面色多青色。
防风（去杈）、细辛（去苗）、柏子仁、白茯苓（去皮）、官桂（去粗皮）、山茱萸、蔓荆子（去浮皮）、桃仁（汤浸，去皮尖双仁，炒）、甘草（微炒，各等分）。
以上锉碎，每次服用五钱，水一盏半，大枣二枚掰破，同煎至八分，温服，不拘时间，每日两次。
雷岩丸：治疗男女肝经不足，风邪内乘上攻，眼睛流泪，羞明怕日，多见黑花，翳膜遮睛，眼睑生风粟，或痒或痛，隐涩难开；兼治久患偏正头风，牵引两眼，逐渐觉得细小，视物不明，都是因为肾水不能既济肝木。此药久服，大补肾脏，增加目力。
枸杞子、菊花（各二两）、肉苁蓉、巴戟天（酒浸一夜，去皮心）、牛膝（各一两）、川椒（三两，去目）、黑附子（青盐二钱，用泔水三升同煮至水尽，去皮脐）。
以上研为细末，用药酒煮面糊和丸，如梧桐子大。每次服用十丸，空腹用酒送下。
茺蔚子、青葙子、枸杞子、五味子、决明子、杏仁、茯苓（去皮，各一两）、干地黄（三两）、菟丝子（二两）、山药、车前子、地骨皮（焙干）、柏子仁、大黄、黄芩（去黑心）、黄连（去须）、人参、细辛、防风（去杈）、甘草（炙，各一两半）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用二十丸，加至三十丸，饭后用米饮送下。
石决明丸：治疗证候同上。
石决明、槐子、肉苁蓉（酒浸一夜，去鳞甲，炙干）、菟丝子（酒浸三日，曝干，另研为末）、阳起石（酒煮七日，细研水飞）、熟地黄（各一两）、桂心（半两）、磁石（一两半，火煅醋淬七次，细研水飞）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜和捣二三百杵，丸如梧桐子大。每次服用二十丸，逐渐加至三十丸，饭前用盐汤送下。
以上研为极细末，滴水制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用一百五十丸，空腹用热汤送下，服后用干食压住。
磁石（火煅醋淬七次，水飞）、菟丝子（酒蒸二次，各二两）、五味子、枸杞子、石斛（去根）、熟地黄（酒蒸，焙干）、覆盆子（酒浸）、楮实子、苁蓉（酒浸，焙干）、车前子（酒蒸，各一两）、沉香、青盐（这两味另研，各半两）。
以上研为末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用七十丸，空腹用盐汤送下。
六味地黄丸、八味地黄丸（并见虚劳篇）。《千金》滋朱丸、石斛夜光丸、益阴肾气丸、滋阴地黄丸（并见内障篇）。

以上研为细末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用五十丸，空腹用米饮送下。
研为末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用五十丸，饭前用白茯苓、石菖蒲汤任意送下。另一配方，加枸杞子一两半，尤其好。
车前子（略炒）、五味子、枸杞子（各二两）、当归（去尾）、熟地黄（各五两）、楮实（无翳者不用）、川椒（炒，各一两）、菟丝子（酒煮，焙干，半斤）。
以上研为细末，蜜水煮糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用三十丸，空腹用温酒送下，盐汤也可以。
荆芥、白菊花、防风、木贼、白附子、粉草、苍术、人参、羌活、蒺藜。
以上水煎，饭后服用。
补肾磁石丸：治疗肾肝气虚上攻，眼目昏暗，远视不明，时见黑花，逐渐形成内障。
磁石（火煅红醋淬）、甘菊花、石决明、肉苁蓉（酒浸，切，焙干）、菟丝子（酒浸一夜，慢火焙干，各一两）。
以上研为细末，用雄雀十五只，去毛、嘴、足，留肚肠，用青盐二两，水三升，同煮令雄雀烂，水欲尽为度，取出先捣如膏，和药末制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用二十丸，空腹用温酒送下。
《千金》神曲丸：即磁朱丸。（见前文。）
柏子仁、薏苡仁、酸枣仁、菟丝子（酒制）、五味子、枸杞子（酒蒸）、覆盆子（酒浸）、车前子（酒浸）、肉苁蓉、熟地黄、白茯苓、当归、沉香（各等分）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用五十丸，空腹用盐酒送下。
羚羊角（镑片）、羌活（去芦）、玄参、车前子、黄芩（去黑心）、山栀仁、栝蒌（各半两）、胡黄连、菊花（各七钱半）、细辛（去苗，二钱半）。
以上研为细末，饭后用竹叶煎汤调服二钱。

以上研为细末，研匀，用胆汁同炼蜜搜和制成丸药，如梧桐子大。每次服用二十丸，饭后用米饮送下。
熟地黄丸（见瞳神散大篇）。
空青（研）、青盐（研，各半两）、槐子、木香、附子（各一两）、牛酥（二两）、鹅脂（四两）、旱莲草（自然汁一升）、龙脑（半钱）、丹砂（二钱半，研）。
以上研为细末，先用旱莲草汁、牛酥、鹅脂在银器中熬三五沸，下诸药末，煎减一半即止，盛在瓷器中。临睡前用旧铧铁一片，重二三两，蘸药在头顶按摩二三十遍，让药力进入发窍中，其次服用决明丸。忌用铁器。
附子（炮制，去皮脐）、木香（各一两）、朱砂（二钱半）、龙脑（半钱）、青盐（一两半）、牛酥（二两）、鹅脂（四两）。
以上将前药研为末，同酥、脂用慢火熬成膏。每次用少许，不拘时间，在头顶按摩。
决明子、甘菊花（各一两）、防风（去芦）、车前子、川芎、细辛、栀子仁、蔓荆子、玄参、白茯苓、薯蓣（各半两）、生地黄（七钱半）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜和捣二三百杵，丸如梧桐子大。每次服用二十丸，饭后用桑枝汤送下，每日三次。
白龙粉：治疗肾水衰虚，肝经邪热，视物不明，或者生障翳，胬肉攀睛，或者迎风泪出，眼见黑花，或者如蝇飞，或者如油星，或者睛涩肿痛，或者痒不可忍，都治疗。
以上用硝三斗，在二九月制作，一大罐热水化开，用绵滤过，入银器或石器内煎至一半以上，就锅内放温，倾入银盆内，在露地放一宿，次日结成块子，在别的水内洗净，再用小罐热水化开熬，入萝卜二个，切作片子同煮，以萝卜熟为度，倾在瓷器内，捞萝卜不用，在露地露一宿，次日结成块子，去水，在日中晒一日，去尽水，入好纸袋盛，放在透风日处挂晒，至风化开成用，逐旋于乳钵内日晒研极细。点眼如常法。也叫玄明粉。
煮肝散：治疗眼生黑花，渐成内障，及斗睛偏视，风毒攻眼，肿痛涩痒，短视，倒睫，雀目。
以上研为细末，每次服用三钱匕，羊子肝一叶锉细，淡竹叶数片，同裹如粽子，另外用雄黑豆四十九粒，米泔一碗，银石器内同煮，黑豆烂泔干为度。取肝细嚼，温酒送下，又将豆食尽，空腹、日午、夜卧服。
服椒方：治疗肝肾虚风上攻，眼目生黑花，头目不利，能通神延年。用川椒一斤，拣净，去目及合口者，于铫内炒令透，在地上铺净纸二重，用新盆合定，周回用黄土培之半日，去毒出汗，然后取之，曝干为度，只取椒于瓷盒子内收。每日空腹，新汲水下十粒。
川芎、地骨皮、荆芥穗、何首乌（去黑皮）、菊花、旋复花、草决明、石决明（刷净）、甘草（炙，各一两）、青葙子、蝉蜕（去土）、木贼（各半两）、白芷（二钱半）。
以上研为细末，每次服用一钱匕，饭后用米泔水调下。
磁石丸：治疗眼因患病后起早，元气虚弱，目无翳膜，视物昏暗，欲成内障。
磁石（二两，火煅醋淬七次，杵碎，细研水飞）、肉苁蓉（一两，酒浸一夜，刮去皱皮，炙令干）、菟丝子（酒浸五日，曝干，另研为末，三两）、补骨脂（微炒）、巴戟天（去心）、石斛（去根）、远志（去心）、熟地黄（各一两）、木香、五味子、甘草（炙赤）、桂心（各半两）。
以上研为细末，研匀，炼蜜和捣二三百杵，丸如梧桐子大。每次服用三十丸，饭前用温酒送下。另一配方，有茯神，无远志、石斛。
当归（酒浸）、川芎、熟地黄、白芍药、枸杞子、覆盆子、地肤子、菟丝子（酒浸，炒）、车前子（酒蒸，量虚实加减，各等分）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大。每次服用五十丸，不拘时间，盐汤送下。
杞苓丸：治疗男子肾脏虚耗，水不上升，眼目昏暗，远视不明，渐成内障。
枸杞子（四两，酒蒸）、白茯苓（八两，去皮）、当归（二两）、菟丝子（四两，酒浸，蒸）、青盐（一两，另研）。
以上研为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大。每次服用七十丸，饭前用白汤送下。
《瑞竹堂经验方》四神丸：治疗肾经虚损，眼目昏花，补虚益损，及云翳遮睛。
甘州枸杞子一斤，（拣色赤滋润者，以酒一杯润之，分作四分，一分同川椒一两炒，一分同小茴香一两炒，一分同芝麻一合炒，一分独炒用）。
炒过，将川椒等筛去不用，再加熟地黄、白术、白茯苓各一两，共为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大。每次服用五七十丸，空腹用温酒送下。或加甘菊花一两。
Yiyang Jiulian San (Cinnamon Twig and Coptis Decoction for Suppressing Yang): Treats contraction and shrinking of the Shen Shui (aqueous humor), gradually becoming as small as a vegetable seed, and conditions where the periphery of the Shen Shui resembles insect erosion. However, in these cases, vision remains clear without blurriness, presenting only mild symptoms of photophobia and astringency.
Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix) (each 3 fen); Manjingzi (Vittaginis Fructus), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 4 fen); Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, prepared with wine), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Hanshuishi (Calcitum), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, prepared with wine) (each 5 fen).
Add two cups of water, decoct until one cup remains, remove the dregs, and take while very hot.
The above formula consists of herbs that suppress Yang and moderate Yin. Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) nourishes the true Yin of Kidney Water as the Sovereign herb; Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) assist in benefiting Kidney Water as the Minister herbs; Manjingzi (Vittaginis Fructus), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), and Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) are a group of ascending-Yang herbs serving as the Assistant herbs, meaning that since suppression is intended, they are separated so as not to interfere with each other. Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Hanshuishi (Calcitum), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) are cold herbs that do not disperse rapidly, serving as the Envoy herbs; the intent is solely to suppress, not to expel. Preparation with wine serves as a guiding agent.
Huanyin Jiuku Tang (Decoction for Restoring Yin and Saving from Hardship) and Bi Yun San (Nose Blue Powder) (both treat redness of the eyes.)
Yanggan Wan (Sheep Liver Pill): Calms the Liver and brightens the eyes.
Jie Yanggan (Liver of Ovis Aries), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Baiziren (Biotae Semen), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) (each 0.5 liang), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (7.5 qian).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30-40 pills with warm water on an empty stomach before meals.
Qianjin Bu Gan San (Supplement Liver Powder from the Thousand Gold Formulas): Treats sudden blindness.
Qingyanggan (Liver of Capra Hircus), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Liaoziren (Polygoni Orientalis Fructus).
Pulverize into powder. Take one cun-bi after meals, twice daily, increasing to three bi. Do not exceed one or two doses. If taken for a year, one can read fine print at night.
Yanggan Wan (from Jisheng Fang): Treats insufficiency of Liver Blood, resulting in blurred vision or production of ocular discharge and tears.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed with wine), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, steamed with wine and dried), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed rhizome), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Ruiren (Pruni Semen), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, steamed with wine and dried), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (equal parts).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 70 pills with warm water at any time. Another prescription excludes Chuanxiong and Zhishi.
Dihuang Wan (also known as Juhua Wan): Treats Liver deficiency caused by overexertion and mental strain, where wind-heat attacks the eyes, causing redness, swelling, photophobia, and gradual formation of nebulae. Also treats eye pain caused by upward rushing of wind-toxic heat from Liver and Kidney. Prolonged visual effort damages Blood; Blood governs the Liver, thus excessive writing injures the Liver leading to blurred vision. Liver injury generates Wind within Wood, causing heat to rush upward, worsening blurriness. One should not exclusively use tonifying herbs; instead, nourish Blood and calm the Liver, and vision will naturally clarify.
Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (1.5 liang), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Guangming Zhusha (Prepared Cinnabar), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Moyao (Myrrha), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (Guangming Zhusha, Qianghuo, Guixin, Moyao: each 0.5 liang; Juemingzi, Huanglian: each 1 liang).

Fan Ning of the Jin Dynasty suffered from eye pain and sought a prescription from Zhang Zhan. Zhang teased him, saying, "An ancient prescription: Song Yangzi acquired this technique in his youth and taught it to Lu Dongmen Bo, who then taught Zuo Qiuming. It was passed down through generations to Du Zixia of Han and Zuo Taichong of Jin. All these sages suffered from eye diseases. The prescription states: Reduce reading by one part, reduce thinking by two parts, focus on internal visualization by three parts, simplify external observation by four parts, rise early and sleep late by five parts, sleep early and rise early by six parts. These six items are refined by divine fire, filtered by Qi, stored in the chest, and after seven months, entered into the heart/mind. Practicing this for a short time allows one to count eyelashes up close and see clearly at a distance of one chi. Long-term continuous use not only brightens the eyes but also prolongs life. If practiced sincerely, it is not mere mockery, but a miraculous prescription."
Bu Gan Tang (Supplement Liver Decoction): Treats Liver deficiency causing fullness and pain in both hypochondria, tendon and vessel spasms, inability to breathe deeply, blurred vision, and a greenish complexion.
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed branches), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, removed sprouts), Baiziren (Biotae Semen), Baifuling (Poria, peeled), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, removed rough bark), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Manjingzi (Vittaginis Fructus, removed floating skin), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen, soaked in water, peeled and removed sharp ends and double kernels, stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, lightly stir-fried) (equal parts).
Cut into pieces. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 cups of water and 2 broken Jujubes, decoct until 0.8 cup remains. Take warm at any time, twice daily.
Leiyan Wan (Thunder Rock Pill): Treats insufficiency of the Liver Meridian in men and women, where internal wind pathogens attack upward, causing tearing, photophobia, frequent seeing of black spots, nebulae obscuring the pupil, wind millet on eyelids, itching or pain, difficulty opening eyes due to astringency; also treats chronic lateral or frontal headache drawing into both eyes, gradually feeling smaller and unclear vision, all due to Kidney Water failing to nourish Liver Wood. Long-term use greatly tonifies the Kidneys and enhances vision.
Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (each 2 liang), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba), Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, soaked in wine overnight, peeled and cored), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) (each 1 liang), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) (3 liang, removed seeds), Heifuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (2 qian Qingyan, boiled with 3 sheng of rice wash water until dry, peel and remove umbilicus).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix with medicinal wine and wheat paste to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 10 pills with wine on an empty stomach.
Bu Gan Wan (Supplement Liver Pill): Treats blurred vision, impending internal cataract.
Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Fuling (Poria, peeled) (each 1 liang), Gadihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (3 liang), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen) (2 liang), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Digupi (Lycii Cortex Radicis, dried), Baiziren (Biotae Semen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, removed black heart), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, removed roots), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed branches), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted) (each 1.5 liang).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills, increasing to 30, after meals with rice drink.
Shijueming Wan (Argo Shell Pill): Treats the same syndrome as above.
Shijueming (Argo Concha), Huaizi (Sophorae Tonkinensis Fructus), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba, soaked in wine overnight, scales removed, roasted dry), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine for three days, sun-dried, separately pulverized), Yangqishi (Leptostictites), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (each 1 liang), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (0.5 liang), Cishi (Magnetitum) (1.5 liang, calcined in vinegar seven times, finely pulverized and water-flown).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix with refined honey and pound 200-300 times to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills, gradually increasing to 30, before meals with salt water.
Yiben Zishen Wan (Benefit Root Nourish Kidney Pill)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, removed rough bark), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, removed hairs) (each cut into pieces, washed with wine and stir-fried, equal parts).
Pulverize into an extremely fine powder, drop water to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 150 pills on an empty stomach with hot water, pressing with solid food afterwards.
Bushen Wan (Tonify Kidney Pill): Treats insufficiency of Kidney Qi, resulting in blurred vision, unclear pupils, and gradual formation of internal cataract.
Cishi (Magnetitum, calcined in vinegar seven times, water-flown), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, steamed with wine twice, each 2 liang), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, removed roots), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, steamed with wine and dried), Fupenzi (Rubiae Fructus, soaked in wine), Chushizi (Broussonetiae Fructus), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba, soaked in wine and dried), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, steamed with wine, each 1 liang), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Qingyan (Halitum) (these two separately pulverized, each 0.5 liang).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 70 pills on an empty stomach with salt water.
Liujun Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill), Bawei Dihuang Wan (Eight-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) (see Consumption Disease section). Qianjin Zizhu Wan (Thousand Gold Zinc-Cinnabar Pill), Shihu Yeguang Wan (Dendrobium Night Light Pill), Yiyin Shenqi Wan (Nourish Yin Kidney Qi Pill), Ziyin Dihuang Wan (Nourish Yin Rehmannia Pill) (all see Internal Cataract section).
Lingyang Qianghuo Tang (Antelope Horn and Notopterygium Decoction): Treats joint deficiency of Liver and Kidney, seeing black spots or fly-wing floaters.
Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, removed black heart), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, peeled and cored), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, removed sprouts), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, lightly stir-fried), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, removed sprouts) (each 1.5 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Radix) (2 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, lightly roasted) (1 liang).
Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 cups of water, decoct until 0.8 cup remains, remove dregs, take warm at any time, twice daily.
Jujing Wan (Chrysanthemum Eye Pill): Treats insufficiency of Liver and Kidney, blurred vision, frequent black spots, and excessive tearing.
Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) (3 liang), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba, soaked in wine and stir-fried), Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, cored, each 1 liang), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos) (4 liang).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 50 pills with warm wine or salt water at leisure after meals. Yu Taizai's prescription adds 2 liang of Shudihuang.
Shijueming Wan (Argo Shell Pill): Treats Liver deficiency and weak Blood. Long-standing blurriness.
Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, dried), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, dried), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, removed sprouts) (each 1.5 liang), Shijueming (Argo Concha), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine overnight, separately pounded to powder, each 1 liang).

Zhujing Wan (Stabilizing Scenery Pill): Treats Liver and Kidney deficiency, blurred vision and nebulae.
Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) (each 3 liang), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, boiled in wine, 5 liang).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 50 pills before meals with Bai Fuling (Poria) and Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) decoction at leisure. Another prescription adds 1.5 liang of Gouqizi, which is especially good.
Jiajian Zhujing Wan (Modified Stabilizing Scenery Pill): Treats Liver and Kidney Qi deficiency, blurred vision, insufficient Blood and excess Qi.
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, lightly stir-fried), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) (each 2 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, removed tail), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (each 5 liang), Chushi (Broussonetiae Fructus, those without nebulae are not used), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, stir-fried, each 1 liang), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, boiled in wine and dried, 0.5 jin).
Pulverize into a fine powder, boil honey in water to make paste, form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine; salt water is also acceptable.
Baifuzi San (White Aconite Powder): Treats initial dispersion of black spots and hazy internal cataract.
Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Bai Juhua (Chrysanthemi Indici Flos), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Muzei (Equiseti Hiemalis Herba), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma), Fencacao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Jili (Tribuli Fructus).
Decoct in water, take after meals.
Bushen Cishi Wan (Tonify Kidney Magnetite Pill): Treats upward attack of Liver-Kidney Qi deficiency, blurred vision, unclear distant vision, frequent black spots, and gradual formation of internal cataract.
Cishi (Magnetitum, calcined red in vinegar), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos), Shijueming (Argo Concha), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba, soaked in wine, sliced and dried), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine overnight, slowly dried) (each 1 liang).
Pulverize into a fine powder. Use 15 male sparrows, remove feathers, beak, and feet, keep intestines. Boil with 2 liang Qingyan and 3 sheng water until sparrows are soft and water is nearly gone. Remove, pound into paste, mix with powder to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine.
Qianjin Shenqu Wan (Thousand Gold Fermented Dough Pill): Is Cizhu Wan (see previous text).
Sanren Wuzi Wan (Three Seeds Five Fruit Pill): Treats Liver and Kidney insufficiency, weak body, blurred vision, internal cataract with floaters, regardless of near or far vision.
Baiziren (Biotae Semen), Yiyiren (Coicis Semen), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, wine-processed), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus, steamed with wine), Fupenzi (Rubiae Fructus, soaked in wine), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, soaked in wine), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata), Baifuling (Poria), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (equal parts).

Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, removed rhizome), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, removed black heart), Shanzhiren (Gardeniae Fructus), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus) (each 0.5 liang), Hu Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (each 7.5 qian), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, removed sprouts, 2.5 qian).
Pulverize into a fine powder. Take 2 qian after meals mixed with bamboo leaf decoction.
Ruiren Wan (Prunus Seed Pill): Treats seeing black spots and fly-wing floaters, astringency, pain, blurriness, gradually progressing to blind man's disease.
Ruiren (Pruni Semen, peeled), Difuzi (Kochiae Scopariae Herba), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, removed sprouts), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Digupi (Lycii Cortex Radicis, removed soil), Shijueming (Argo Concha, washed and separately pounded/sifted), Baifuling (Poria, peeled), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 2 liang), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, dried), Chushi (Broussonetiae Fructus) (each 3 liang), Kongqing (Azurite, separately pulverized), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed branches) (each 1.5 liang), Shidan (Melanteritum, powdered, 0.5 liang), Liyu Dan (Cyprini Carassii Bilis) (5 pieces), Qingyang Dan (Caprae Hircinae Bilis) (1 piece).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix evenly. Use bile juice and refined honey to knead into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills after meals with rice drink.
Shudihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) (see Dilated Pupil section).
Motop Gao (Head-Massage Paste): Treats upward attack of deficiency-wind from Liver and Kidney, seeing black spots in eyes or like water waves.
Kongqing (Azurite, pulverized), Qingyan (Halitum, pulverized) (each 0.5 liang), Huaizi (Sophorae Tonkinensis Fructus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (each 1 liang), Niusu (Bovis Medulla), E'zhi (Anseris Adeps) (2 liang and 4 liang respectively), Hanliancao (Ecliptae Herba, fresh juice 1 sheng), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum), Dansha (Cinnabar, pulverized, 2.5 qian).
Pulverize into a fine powder. First boil Hanliancao juice, Niusu, and E'zhi in a silver vessel for three to five boils. Add herbal powders, decoct until volume halves, stop. Store in porcelain. Before sleep, use an old plowshare iron piece weighing 2-3 liang, dip in medicine, massage top of head 20-30 times to enter hair follicles, then take Jueming Wan. Avoid iron vessels.
Another prescription: Treats seeing flowers in front of eyes, colors yellow, black, red, white varying.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, peeled and cored), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 1 liang), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 2.5 qian), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 0.5 qian), Qingyan (Halitum, 1.5 liang), Niusu (Bovis Medulla, 2 liang), E'zhi (Anseris Adeps, 4 liang).
Pulverize previous herbs, mix with su and zhi, simmer slowly into paste. Apply small amount at leisure, massage top of head.
Jueming Wan (Clear Vision Pill): Treats persistent black spots in vision.
Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos) (each 1 liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed rhizome), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Zhiziren (Gardeniae Fructus), Manjingzi (Vittaginis Fructus), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Baifuling (Poria), Shuyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (each 0.5 liang), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (7.5 qian).
Pulverize into a fine powder, mix with refined honey and pound 200-300 times to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills after meals with mulberry branch decoction, three times daily.
Bailong Fen (White Dragon Powder): Treats decline of Kidney Water, pathogenic heat in Liver Meridian, unclear vision, formation of nebulae, pterygium, wind-induced tearing, seeing black spots, fly-like floaters, oil-spot-like images, eye astringency and swelling/pain, unbearable itching. All treated.
Use 3 dou of Xiao (Mirabilite/Niter), made in Feb/Sept. Dissolve in a large jar of hot water, filter through cotton, pour into silver or stone vessel, decoct until more than half remains. Cool in pot, pour into silver basin, leave outdoors overnight. Next day, blocks form. Wash in clean water, dissolve again in small jar with hot water, boil. Add 2 radishes, sliced, cook until radishes are soft. Pour into porcelain, remove radishes, leave outdoors overnight. Next day, blocks form. Drain water, sun-dry for one day until dry. Store in good paper bag, hang in ventilated sunny place until weathered and ready. Grind extremely fine in mortar under sun. Instill into eyes as usual. Also called Xuanming Fen.
Zhu Gan San (Boiled Liver Powder): Treats seeing black spots, gradual internal cataract, strabismus, wind-toxic attack on eyes, swelling, pain, astringency, itching, short-sightedness, trichiasis, night blindness.
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, removed rhizome), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, removed rhizome), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Ganhualju (Chrysanthemi Flos) (each 1 liang).
Pulverize into fine powder. Take 3 qian-bi per dose. Slice one leaf of sheep liver finely, wrap with several slices of light bamboo leaves like a zongzi. Add 49 male black beans and 1 bowl of rice wash water. Boil in silver/stone vessel until beans are soft and water is dry. Chew liver finely, take with warm wine. Eat all beans. Take on empty stomach, at noon, and before bed.
Fu Jiao Fang (Pepper Ingestion Formula): Treats upward attack of deficiency-wind from Liver and Kidney, seeing black spots, head/eye discomfort, promotes spirit and longevity. Use 1 jin Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), select clean ones, remove seeds and closed ones. Stir-fry thoroughly in a pot. Place on ground covered with double clean paper, cover with new basin, seal edges with yellow earth for half a day to remove toxicity and sweat. Then take out, sun-dry. Store pepper in porcelain box. Take 10 grains on empty stomach with fresh well water daily.
Xiong San (Ligusticum Powder): Treats dizzy/blurred vision, astringency, unclear sight.
Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Digupi (Lycii Cortex Radicis), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Herba apicalis), Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix, removed black skin), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Xuanfu Hua (Inulae Flos), Cao Jueming (Cassiae Semen), Shijueming (Argo Concha, brushed clean), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted) (each 1 liang), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum, cleaned), Muzei (Equiseti Hiemalis Herba) (each 0.5 liang), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (2.5 qian).
Pulverize into fine powder. Take 1 qian-bi after meals mixed with rice wash water.
Cishi Wan (Magnetite Pill): Treats eyes becoming dim after illness and rising early, deficient Yuan Qi, no nebulae, blurred vision, impending internal cataract.
Cishi (Magnetitum) (2 liang, calcined in vinegar seven times, pounded, finely pulverized and water-flown), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Herba) (1 liang, soaked in wine overnight, scraped wrinkles, roasted dry), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen) (soaked in wine for five days, sun-dried, separately pulverized, 3 liang), Buguzhi (Psoraleae Fructus, lightly stir-fried), Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, cored), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, removed roots), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, cored), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (each 1 liang), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted red), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 0.5 liang).
Pulverize into fine powder, mix evenly, combine with refined honey and pound 200-300 times to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills before meals with warm wine. Another prescription contains Fushen but lacks Yuanzhi and Shihu.
Siwu Wuzi Wan (Four Substances Five Seeds Pill): Treats Heart-Kidney insufficiency, blurred vision.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, soaked in wine), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus), Fupenzi (Rubiae Fructus), Difuzi (Kochiae Scopariae Herba), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine and stir-fried), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, steamed with wine, adjust based on deficiency/excess) (equal parts).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 50 pills at any time with salt water.
Qiling Wan (Goji-Poria Pill): Treats kidney consumption in men, water failing to ascend, blurred vision, unclear distant vision, gradual internal cataract.
Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) (4 liang, steamed with wine), Baifuling (Poria) (8 liang, peeled), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 liang), Tiansizi (Cuscutae Semen) (4 liang, soaked in wine and steamed), Qingyan (Halitum) (1 liang, separately pulverized).
Pulverize into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 70 pills before meals with plain hot water.
Ruizhu Si Shen Wan (Ruizhu Four Spirit Pill): Treats Kidney Meridian deficiency, blurred vision, tonifies deficiency and benefits damage, and cloud-like nebulae obscuring the pupil.
Ganzhou Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus from Ganzhou) (1 jin, select red and moist ones, moisten with one cup of wine, divide into four parts: one part stir-fried with 1 liang Chuanjiao, one part with 1 liang Xiaohuixiang, one part with 1 he Sesame, one part stir-fried alone). After frying, sieve out Chuanjiao etc. Add Shudihuang, Baizhu, Baifuling (each 1 liang). Pulverize into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 50-70 pills on empty stomach with warm wine. May add 1 liang Ganhualju.
Yeguang Wan (Night Light Pill, also known as Shuangmei Wan): Treats blurred vision and various eye diseases, also reduces nebulae.
