似紫檀而色赤，为枕令人头痛，为热故也。
海药∶谨按《广志》云∶生安南及南海山谷。胡人用为床坐，性坚好。主产后恶露冲心，
症瘕结气，赤白漏下，并锉煎服之。
味苦，温，无毒。主霍乱，下痢，中恶，腹内不调者。服之。出南海诸州。根如乌药
圆小。树生也。

Origin: Annan and the South Sea. Used by people to make beds and tables; resembles Zitan (Rosewood) but with a reddish color. Using it as a pillow causes headaches due to its warming nature.
Maritime Medicines: According to "Guang Zhi", it grows in the mountains and valleys of Annan and the South Sea. Hu people use it for beds and seats; its texture is hard and good. Indications: postpartum lochia rushing to the heart, zheng jia (masses and qi stagnation), red and white leukorrhea. All are treated by chopping and decocting for oral administration.
Taste: bitter; Nature: warm; Toxicity: non-toxic. Indications: cholera, dysentery, sudden evil invasion, internal abdominal disharmony. Take orally. Origin: various prefectures of the South Sea. Roots resemble Wuyao (Linderae Radix) in being round and small. Grows on trees.
Maritime Medicines: Leaves resemble Sichuan pepper (Zanthoxylum). Indications: red and white dysentery, gu poison (parasitic disease), sudden evil invasion. All are treated by chopping and decocting for oral administration.
Taste: bitter; Nature: warm; Toxicity: non-toxic. Indications: resolves toxicity from gold medicines and silver medicines. Grind in water, extract half he, take a little on an empty stomach. Recovery occurs after about twenty days. Origin: Lingnan. Resembles Longyan (Longan fruit), yellow in color.
Maritime Medicines: Its efficacy surpasses that of Jiedu Zi.
Indications: postpartum abdominal itching in women. Place under the sleeping mat without letting the woman know.
Taste: sweet; Toxicity: non-toxic. Indications: heart diseases, bleeding, aids healing of metal wounds, removes evil blood from the abdomen, bloody dysentery and lower bleeding, leukorrhea in women, brightens eyes, treats eye opacities, wind-tearing, and caruncle. Origin: Persia. Resembles Borneol.
Maritime Medicines: It is the resin of the Cile tree. Taste: sweet; Nature: neutral. Indications: reduces eye opacities, invigorates blood, stops dysentery, removes evil blood from the abdomen. Rarely seen nowadays.
Taste: sweet; Nature: neutral; Toxicity: non-toxic. Indications: relieves thirst, moistens lungs, removes irritability, eliminates phlegm. Dry over fire and prepare as a drink. Origin: Southern regions. Trees resemble plum trees. Xu Biao's "Nanzhou Ji" states: Duxian tree seeds are finger-sized; taking the seeds and bark makes a very fragrant and delicious drink.
Maritime Medicines: According to Xu Biao's "Nanzhou Ji", it grows in the mountains and valleys of Guangnan. Taste: sweet; Nature: neutral; Toxicity: non-toxic. Indications: irritability, chest stuffiness, phlegm obstruction, clear nasal discharge in shanghan (cold damage), coughing and rebellious qi. Should be decocted and taken orally. Seeds are fragrant when eaten, size similar to Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma).
Indications: difficult labor. Take those wrapped in iron, burn to ash, mix with wine, and take orally to facilitate delivery.
