A woman, due to excessive sexual excitement during intercourse, suffered a miscarriage with unceasing hemorrhage. People assumed it was caused by extreme fire pathogen, but who would know that it was actually due to Qi collapse? For pregnant women, the fetus relies on Kidney Water (Jing-Yin) for nourishment. If the source of Water is insufficient, and Water is lacking, Fire easily boils up. Added to this, prolonged intercourse without cessation causes Fire to move violently. If reaching a state of frenzy, Essence (Jing) will be largely depleted, Kidney Water becomes drier, and Kidney Fire becomes more blazing. With both Water and Fire diseased, how can the fetus remain secure? After the fetus falls, if Fire has not subsided, blood follows the Fire in a catastrophic flow, presenting an unstoppable momentum. The treatment method should naturally prioritize stopping bleeding. However, since Fire movement stems from Water deficiency, and hemorrhage originates from Qi collapse, if one does not urgently consolidate Qi, the scattered Qi cannot return quickly, and where will blood be generated? If one does not greatly tonify Essence, then depleted Essence cannot grow rapidly, and Fire will become even more intense. Use Guqi Tianjing Tang (Solidify Qi and Fill Essence Decoction) for treatment:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (5 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (5 qian), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (1 liang), Chao Hei Jing Jie (Charred Schizonepetae Spica) (2 qian), San Qi Gen Mo (End of Panax Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma powder) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take mixed. One dose stops bleeding, two doses bring physical peace, four doses result in complete recovery.
This formula does not clear Fire at all; it only tonifies Qi and Essence to rescue deficiency. Its unique efficacy lies in the fact that these sweet-warm herbs can eliminate great heat. This heat is deficient heat (Xu Re), not excess heat (Shi Re). Excess heat can be subdued with cold-natured herbs, while deficient heat must be treated with warm tonification. Thus, tonifying Qi naturally controls blood, and tonifying Essence naturally stops bleeding.
Using Guqi Zhituo Tang (Solidify Qi and Stop Collapse Decoction) is also effective.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus) (each 1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) (each 5 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take.
A woman suffered a miscarriage due to falling, bumping, twisting, or injury, expelling purple clots, fainting almost to death. People attributed this to blood stasis, but who would know it was damage to the Blood Chamber (Xue Shi)? The woman's Blood Chamber is connected to the fetal sac; if the fetal sac is damaged, the Blood Chamber is also damaged. Injury to the fetal sac causing bleeding indicates shallow damage; injury to the Blood Chamber causing bleeding indicates deep damage. Shallow injury results in leakage in the abdomen; deep injury results in fainting affecting the mind. Although both are injuries from falling or twisting, treatment differs before and after miscarriage. Before miscarriage, if the fetus is unstable, one should protect the fetus and not lightly remove blood; after miscarriage, if there is massive hemorrhage, one should dissipate blood stasis but must not severely injure Qi. Since the fetus has fallen and blood has largely collapsed, the Blood Chamber is empty, leaving only Qi. If Qi is further injured, is there no fear of Qi collapse? Therefore, one must tonify Qi to generate blood; when new blood is generated, blood stasis can stop. Use Liqi Zhiyu Tang (Regulate Qi and Stop Stasis Decoction):
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (1 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (5 qian), Hong Hua (Carthami Flos) (1 qian), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (3 qian), Chao Hei Gan Jiang (Charred Zingiberis Rhizoma) (5 fen), Fu Ling (Poria) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take. One dose stops stasis, two doses remove fainting, three doses ensure full safety.
This formula uses Ren Shen and Huang Qi to tonify Qi; when Qi is vigorous, blood is controlled. It uses Dang Gui and Dan Pi to tonify blood; when blood is generated, stasis is hard to retain. It uses Hong Hua and Black Ginger to invigorate blood circulation; when blood flows, fainting is removed. It uses Fu Ling to promote urination; when water flows, blood easily returns to its vessels.
Using Jiawei Buxue Tang (Modified Tonify Blood Decoction) is also miraculous.
Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (2 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (each 1 liang), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (3 qian), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Spica) (3 qian), Yi Mu Cao (Leonuri Herba) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take.
During pregnancy, a woman experiences thirst, irritability, sores on the tongue, swollen and cracked lips, dry constipation, and bowel obstruction for several days, leading to abdominal pain and miscarriage. People attribute this to Large Intestine Fire, but who would know it is Heat in Blood scorching the fetus? Blood nourishes the fetus; warm blood benefits the fetus, while hot blood damages it. The fetus in the womb suffers as if probing boiling water; how can it survive? Naturally, it moves outward and downward to escape the oppressive heat. Blood is transformed from Yin Water. As blood daily nourishes the fetus, the demand is urgent. If Yin Water cannot quickly generate to transform into blood, Yin deficiency leads to Fire movement. The interior is filled with Fire Qi, and thus the blood is filled with Fire Qi. Two Fires combine, burning and pressing the fetus, causing it to fall. The treatment is to clear Fire in the uterus and tonify Essence in the Kidneys. The Fire in the fetus is purely deficient Fire, not excess Fire. Excess Fire can be purged, but deficient Fire should be cleared within tonification. If one solely uses cold-cooling herbs to lower Fire, ignoring the deficiency/excess of the fetus, cold Qi will oppress, stomach Qi will wither, and how can essence and micro-nutrients be transformed to generate Yin Water? Without becoming consumption disease, it would be rare. Use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) modified:
Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (5 qian), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (3 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (1 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang), Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus) (2 qian), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (3 qian), Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus) (1 qian), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (2 qian). Decoct in water and take. Take continuously for four doses; residual blood clears and abdominal pain disappears completely.
Using Shengdi Yin (Rehmannia Decoction) is also miraculous.
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) (2 liang). Use this to save the situation before miscarriage. If miscarriage has already occurred, this formula can still be used, or halved, which is particularly safe.
A pregnant woman experienced chills and abdominal pain, resulting in fetal loss. People thought it was excessive cold in the lower part, but who would know it was Qi deficiency compounded by Cold invasion, leading to an inability to hold the fetus, causing it to fall? Humans are born from Fire and sustained by Fire. However, Fire is not filled without Qi; when Qi is vigorous, Fire is vigorous; when Qi declines, Fire cannot be vigorous. The fetus receives the innate Fire from parents. Innate Fire is formed by innate Qi; thus, the fetus is formed by Qi and held by Qi. Vigorous Qi makes the fetus secure; declining Qi makes the fetus weak. As the fetus grows daily, Qi declines daily; how can it not fall? Moreover, encountering external Cold invasion makes internal Fire even weaker. When abdominal pain occurs, immediately using Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) would stop pain and secure the fetus. Unfortunately, people dare not use them, leading to miscarriage, leaving only a trace of Qi. If one does not urgently rescue Qi, what method can save it? Use Huang Qi Buxue Tang (Astragalus Tonify Blood Decoction):
Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (2 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (5 fen). Decoct in water and take. One dose stops bleeding, three doses make Qi vigorous, avoiding the danger of near-death collapse.
If one identifies it as Cold and heavily uses pungent-hot substances without tonifying Qi and Blood, the excessive dryness and heat will inevitably lead to Yang collapse, which is dangerous.
Using Jiawei Shen Zhu Tang (Modified Ginseng and Atractylodes Decoction) is also effective.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (5 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (1 qian), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (1 qian), Bai Bian Dou (Dolichoris Semen) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take.
After a severe anger fit, a pregnant woman suddenly experienced abdominal pain and miscarried. Even after the fetus fell, abdominal pain persisted. People attributed this to lingering Fire in the Liver Meridian, but who would know it was pain due to blood not returning to its vessels? The Liver stores blood; severe anger prevents blood storage, leading to hemorrhage rather than miscarriage. Why did blood loss accompany fetal loss? The Liver nature is most urgent. If the blood gate does not close, blood rushes directly to the fetal sac. The ligament of the fetal sac connects between the Heart and Kidneys. When Liver blood rushes in, the Heart-Kidney pathway is severed, and fetal Qi abruptly ceases, causing the miscarriage. After the fetus falls, if blood remains, residual pain continues. The treatment is to guide Liver blood back into the Liver, stopping abdominal pain. However, merely guiding blood without calming Liver Wood Qi makes Qi reversal hard to turn, and thus blood reversal hard to return. Use Yinqi Guixue Tang (Guide Qi and Return Blood Decoction):
Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (5 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (5 qian), Chao Hei Jing Jie (Charred Schizonepetae Spica) (3 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (3 qian), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (3 qian), Chao Hei Gan Jiang (Charred Zingiberis Rhizoma) (5 fen), Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma) (5 fen), Yu Jin (Curcumae Longae Radix) (1 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (1 qian), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) (3 qian). Decoct in water and take.
This formula is named "Guide Qi," but it actually guides blood. If Qi and Blood both return yet abdominal pain persists, I do not believe it.
Using Guijing Foshou San (Return-to-Vessel Buddha's Hand Powder) is also miraculous.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (each 5 qian), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Spica) (3 qian), Chao Hei Gan Jiang (Charred Zingiberis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (1 qian), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (3 qian), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (1 liang). Decoct in water and take.
