The twelve meridians begin with the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian (Shou Taiyin Fei Jing). Its branch emerges from behind the wrist to the tip of the index finger and connects with the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian (Shou Yangming Dachang Jing). The branch of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian ascends from the Clavicle (Quepen, LI14) along both sides of the mouth and nose to connect with the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian (Zu Yangming Weijing). The branch of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian emerges from the dorsum of the foot to the tip of the great toe and connects with the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian (Zu Taiyin Pijng). The branch of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian diverges from the stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and enters the heart to connect with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian (Shou Shaoyin Xinjing). The Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian has no branch; it proceeds directly to its own Shaochong point (HT9) and connects with the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian (Shou Taiyang Xiaochang Jing). The branch of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian diverges at the cheek, ascends to the inner canthus of the eye, and connects with the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian (Zu Taiyang Pangguang Jing). The branch of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian diverges from the medial shoulder on both sides, descends to converge in the popliteal fossa, continues down to the lateral end of the little toe, and connects with the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian (Zu Shaoyin Shenjing). The branch of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian emerges from the lung, enters the chest, and connects with the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian (Shou Jueyin Xinbao Jing). The branch of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian follows the palm to the tip of the ring finger (fourth finger) and connects with the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian (Shou Shaoyang Sanjiao Jing). The branch of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian emerges from behind the ear to the outer canthus of the eye and connects with the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian (Zu Shaoyang Danjing). The branch of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian enters the nail bed of the great toe from the dorsum of the foot, emerges among the hairs, and connects with the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian (Zu Jueyin Ganjing). The branch of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian diverges from the liver, penetrates the diaphragm, ascends to enter the lung, passes behind the throat, ascends to the forehead, and follows the Du Meridian (Governor Vessel). It links the genitalia, passes through the pubic hair region, and follows the Ren Meridian (Conception Vessel). It enters the clavicular fossa, descends into the lung, and thus reconnects with the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian.
The meridians begin with Taiyin and end last with Jueyin; the acupoints start first with Zhongfu (LU1) and end finally with Qimen (LR14). Tracing the Lung Meridian, it originates in the chest, emerges from the axilla, travels to Shaoshang (LU11), links the index finger, and connects with the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. The Large Intestine Meridian begins at Shangyang (LI1) and ends at Yingxiang (LI20) outside the nose. The Stomach Meridian passes through Chengqi (ST1) and descends, seeking Lidi (ST45) on the foot meridian. The Spleen Meridian starts from Yinbai (SP1) on the foot and trends toward Dabao (SP21) in the axilla. The Heart Meridian exits from Ji Quan (HT1) and enters Shaoshong (HT9) on the little finger. The Small Intestine Meridian begins at Shaoze (SI1), ascends along the posterior shoulder, and links Tinggong (SI19). The Bladder Meridian's points start from Jingming (BL1) and emerge at Zhiyin (BL67) on the lateral foot. The Kidney Meridian initiates at Yongquan (KI1) and connects to Yufu (KI27) in the anterior chest. The Pericardium Meridian begins at Tianchi (PC1) behind the breast, links Zhongchong (PC9) at the tip of the middle finger. The Sanjiao Meridian begins on the lateral side of the finger, from Guanchong (SJ1) to Sizhukong (TE23). The Gallbladder Meridian starts from Tongziliao (GB1), connects to Zuqiaoyin (GB44) on the fourth toe. The Liver Meridian ascends from Dadun (LR1) and returns to the Lung Meridian via Qimen (LR14).
