A nobleman suffered from chronic asthma (asthma) for a long time. At night, he could not lie down and had to get up and walk. Even in summer, he wore a double-layered vest. I deduced this was a disease of Gaohuang (Gao Huang), ordered him to moxa-burn Gaohuang (BL43), and he recovered. There were also cases of sudden asthma (asthma). I determined it was caused by phlegm obstruction. I instructed finely chopping Houpo (Magnolia Bark), weighing about 7-8 qian, decocting with 7 slices of ginger in a small bowl of water until reduced to 70%, and administering the liquid. The dregs were decocted again for administration. Recovery occurred within a few doses. If the asthma (asthma) is not due to phlegm, one should moxa-burn Feishu (BL13). For all patients with asthma (asthma) and xiao (wheezing syndrome), pressing Feishu (BL13) invariably causes soreness and pain. Therefore, I use Mu Ci (mis-pricking/flank needling) on Feishu (BL13) followed by moxibustion to cure it. Some recover with only Mu Ci without moxibustion, indicating variations in disease depth. My younger brother climbed a mountain and was struck by rain. One night, his Qi was stifled, nearly fatal. He saw his brothers and wept, showing signs of farewell. I suspected heart sorrow and needle Baihui (GV20), but it was ineffective. Pressing his Feishu (BL13), he described the pain as like a cone piercing. I used a fire needle to slightly prick the point, and he recovered immediately. Hence, when treating others' asthma (asthma) and xiao (wheezing syndrome), I only Mu Ci Feishu (BL13), not other acupoints. Only when pressing Feishu (BL13) does not cause pain or soreness do I then select other acupoints.
