Sanxiao Syndrome (Three Burners Syndrome) is caused by pathogenic invasion of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner). Shangxiao (Upper Jiao Xiao) belongs to the Lung, characterized by extreme thirst and excessive drinking. This is due to the dryness and depletion of fluids in the Upper Jiao, named Ge Xiao (Diaphragmatic Thirst), also known as Xiaoke (Thirsting and Wasting). Zhongxiao (Middle Jiao Xiao) belongs to the Stomach, characterized by polyphagia with easy hunger and gradual emaciation, named Xiaozhong (Middle Jiao Thirst), also known as Xiaogu (Grain Consuming). Xiaxiao (Lower Jiao Xiao) belongs to the Kidney, characterized by irritability, desire for water, dark complexion, scorched ears, and urine resembling paste, named Shen Xiao (Kidney Thirst), also known as Neixiao (Internal Thirst). All these conditions result from the flaming upward of Heart and Stomach Fire, leading to a deficiency of True Yin.
[Acupoints] Chengjiang (CV24), Jinjin, Yuye, Shenshu (BL23)
Ke Sou (Cough): When there is sound but no phlegm, it is called Ke, indicating injury to Lung Qi. When there is phlegm but no sound, it is called Sou, arising from Spleen dampness. When there is both sound and phlegm, it is called Kesou, resulting from Lung Qi injury combined with Spleen dampness activation.
[Acupoints] Tiantu (CV22), Danzhong (CV17), Rugen (ST18, Moxibustion: 3 cones), Fengmen (BL12), Feishu (BL13), Jingqu (LU8), Lieque (LU7), Yuji (LU10), Qiangu (SI10), Zusanli (ST36)
Keni (Rebellious Cough/Asthma): Caused by wheezing and coughing leading to rebellious Qi flow, this is the most severe form of cough.
[Acupoints] Feishu (BL13), Feimu (BL13 - Back-Shu point of Lung), Tailing (PC7), Zusanli (ST36), Xingjian (LR2)
Feng Lao Bai Bing (Wind Consumption and Hundred Diseases): The onset of Wind Consumption often stems from cough and nasal congestion. Prolonged exposure causes wind pathogens to transmit inward, gradually transforming into consumption. Manifestations on the exterior include spontaneous sweating; inside, internal heat; in the Lung, cough; in the Liver, hemoptysis; in the Spleen, emaciation; in the Kidney, seminal emission.
[Acupoint] Jianjing (GB21, Moxibustion: 200 cones)
Xiao (Wheezing): There are five types of Xiao disease. Shui Xiao (Water Wheezing) is triggered by drinking water; when water retention occurs, it manifests. Qi Xiao (Qi Wheezing) is induced by anger; when phlegm-fluids become congested and full, it manifests. Xian Xiao (Salty Wheezing) is triggered by excessive consumption of salty flavors. Ru Xiao (Milk Wheezing) is wheezing present since infancy in children. Jiu Xiao (Alcohol Wheezing) is caused by sexual activity after drunkenness; it manifests upon drinking alcohol. (Shui Xiao, Ru Xiao, and Jiu Xiao are all difficult to treat.)
[Acupoints] Tiantu (CV22), Huagai (CV21), Danzhong (EX-HN24), Shufu (BL12), Zusanli (ST36), Jianzhongshu (BL11, treats Wind Xiao)
Another method: Tie a thread around the neck, let it hang down to the tip of Jiwei (CV15), cut it off, pull it back along the midline of the spine to the very end; this location is the acupoint (Moxibustion: 7 cones is effective).
Xiao'er Xian Xiao (Pediatric Salty Wheezing): On the tip of the little finger of the left hand for males and the right hand for females, apply small moxa cones, 7 cones, which can invariably eradicate the root cause.
Chuan (Panting/Asthma): Whenever panting is rapid accompanied by a sound in the throat like a water chicken, it is called Xiao (Wheezing). When breathing is urgent, continuous, and unable to cease, it is called Chuan (Panting).
Qi Chuan Bu Neng Wo (Panting unable to lie flat), caused by long-term cough due to wind-cold, can be treated at Lingtai (GV10, located below the 6th thoracic vertebra) with Moxibustion: 3 cones for cure.
Zhu Chuan Qi Ji (Various cases of panting and urgency): Treat at Zhiyang (GV9, located below the 7th thoracic vertebra) with Moxibustion: 3 cones.
