**Ear Disorders:** The ears are associated with the Kidney; the left side governs Qi, and the right side governs Blood. Obstruction and tinnitus of the ear orifices indicate the blockage of the nine orifices. It is also said that the Heart governs the orifices. Heart Qi connects to the ears, and ear Qi connects to the Kidneys. Therefore, Heart disease causes tinnitus and buzzing in the ears, resulting in the inability to hear distant sounds. For tinnitus and hearing loss where distant sounds cannot be heard, moxa cones (Zhuang) can be applied to Xinshu (BL-15, Heart Shu) for thirty applications.
For earache and tinnitus: Take a reed tube five cun long, cut off one end, insert it into the ear canal, and seal the mouth of the tube tightly with mud. Place seven moxa cones on the open end of the tube. Treat the left ear by targeting the right side, and the right ear by targeting the left side (cross-treatment).
Another prescription: Take Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), perforate it with a square iron rod to form a tube like bamboo, and apply moxibustion for twenty-one or thirty-seven applications as described above; this has significant efficacy.
Deafness: First needle Baihui (GV-20), then needle Hegu (LI-4), Wanggu (SI-4), Zhongzhu (TE-3), Houxi (SI-3), Xia Sanli (EX-UE9), Juegu (GB-39), and Kunlun (BL-60), retaining the needles for a long time. Then moxa Shen shu (BL-23, Kidney Shu) for fourteen or twenty-one applications (the number of Zhuang corresponds to the patient's age). For deafness caused by deficiency consumption and emaciation, moxa Shen shu (BL-23) for twenty-one applications and Xin shu (BL-15) for thirty applications.
**Eye Disorders:** The eyes are associated with the Liver; the Heart generates blood. The eyes governed by the Liver can see when nourished by blood; the palms can grasp when nourished by blood; the feet can walk when nourished by blood.
The eyeball reflects the essence of the Five Zang organs. The black part (cornea) belongs to the Liver; the white part (sclera) belongs to the Lung; the area between black and white belongs to the Spleen and Stomach; the pupil belongs to the Kidney (Note: Text says "Shu", likely typo for Kidney); the eyelids belong to the Spleen; the upper eyelid margin belongs to the Bladder; the lower eyelid margin belongs to the Spleen and Stomach; internally connected to the Bladder and Large Intestine; externally connected to the Gallbladder and Small Intestine; both internally and externally belong to the Heart Meridian. Treating according to their respective meridians yields miraculous effects.
For tearing in the wind: Needle Jingming (BL-1), Wanggu (SI-4), Fengchi (GB-20), Touwei (ST-8), Shangxing (GV-23), and Yingxiang (LI-20).
For wind-induced ulceration of the eye sockets: Needle Taiyang (EX-HN5), Dangyang (EX-HN4), and Chize (LU-5), allowing blood to flow out like feces; this is miraculously effective.
For leukoma (white opacity on the cornea): First observe the origin of the opacity, then regulate daily according to the meridian to promote Qi circulation; this yields miraculous effects.
Another prescription: Moxa Ganshu (BL-18, Liver Shu) for seven applications, seven applications above the ninth thoracic vertebra, and needle Hegu (LI-4), Waiguan (TE-5), Jingming (BL-1), and Kunlun (BL-60), retaining the needles for a long time. Moxa Dalaogu (interphalangeal joint of the middle finger) for nine applications, extinguishing the moxa flame; three applications at the medial transverse crease of the thumb tip, and three applications at the tip of the proximal phalanx of the little finger. Moxa Erjian (GV-12) for seven applications; do not over-moxa.
For painful eyeballs without tears: Needle Zhongwan (CV-12) and Neiting (ST-44), retaining the needles for a long time, then draining; this is miraculously effective.
For dark bluish-black discoloration above and below the eye sockets: Needle Chize (LU-5) to a depth of three fen; this is miraculously effective.
For protruding pupils: Needle Yongquan (KI-1), Ranggu (KI-2), Taiyang (EX-HN5), Dachong (LR-8), Hegu (LI-4), Baihui (GV-20), and the Upper, Middle, and Lower points near the lumbar region, as well as Ganshu (BL-18) and Shenshu (BL-23).
For nyctalopia (night blindness) in adults and children: Moxa Ganshu (BL-18) for seven applications; one application each at the white flesh boundary at the transverse crease head behind the nail of the thumb's first phalanx.
