This syndrome, characterized by dim vision and pain due to Liver Wind, stems from deficiency and exhaustion of the Liver and Kidney, insufficient Qi of the Liver, and Blood deficiency. The pain occurs intermittently without a fixed schedule; during attacks, there is a heavy, dragging pain in the eyeballs, accompanied by significant redness, dryness, and tearing. Vision is blurred, and various visual hallucinations are frequently seen before the eyes, such as yellow, white, or black spots. A single object may appear doubled with unclear shapes. Treatment requires caution to avoid damaging the eyes. This syndrome is actually a combination of internal and external pathology; treating only the exterior without addressing the interior would be ineffective. Internally, employ Bijieli San (Tribulus Powder). Externally, apply Yin Er Yang Ba Dan (Yin-Two-Yang-Eight Elixir), mixed with breast milk for eye drops, applied for two to three nights. Add a small amount of Bingpian (Borneol) each time. Wash the eyes with a decoction of Huang Juhua (Chrysanthemum Flower), Chi Shaoyao (Red Peony Root), Cebaiye (Biota Leaf), Qinpi (Ash Bark), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root), and Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome). Additionally, observe dietary restrictions: avoid Five Pungent Spices and all hot-natured foods.

Question: What is Yingfeng Salivation Syndrome? Answer: It is caused by Liver deficiency and is also related to Cold in the Brain. Tears flow upon exposure to wind; wiping them away causes them to reappear. There are fewer tears in summer and more in winter. If this persists for two to three years regardless of season, it indicates that tears connect to the Liver. The Liver belongs to Wood, and the eyes are the external manifestation of the Liver. Due to Liver deficiency and stirring of Wind, tears flow, causing wind-induced tearing. Therefore, treat cold tears with Buchgan San (Liver-Nourishing Powder).
