Question: What is the cause of people suffering from black spots in their eyes, appearing vast and indistinct like fly wings? Answer: This is caused by the decline of Kidney Water. The Kidney is the mother of the Liver (in Five Element theory, Water generates Wood). When Kidney Water fails to nourish Liver Wood, deficiency heat arises. The Gallbladder is born from the Liver; if Liver Wood becomes withered and scorched, Gallbladder Qi is insufficient. Therefore, during movement and action, within the Shen Shui (clear fluid in the eye), dark shadows resembling fly wings ripple and appear. Treatment requires first using Zhu Ling San to smooth out the pathogenic heat of the Liver and Kidney, then using Hei Shen Tang to cool the Liver, so that the clear cavity of the Gallbladder Meridian remains pure and free from pathogenic heat invasion. Finally, use Bu Shen Wan, and the black spots will naturally dissipate.

Question: What is the cause of dim vision, seeing flowers, and the inability to gaze for a long time? Answer: This is due to Kidney deficiency. Although the eyes belong to the sensory orifices, they are ultimately governed by the Kidney. Kidney deficiency leads to blurry vision. Alternatively, excessive indulgence in lust, alcohol, and sexual activity causes the Kidneys to become exhausted and weak. Incomplete endowment of innate essence and shortness of spirit result in the Shen Shui within the pupil becoming turbid, and the eyes lacking strength. Thus, flowers appear in the vision, and prolonged focusing is impossible. Treatment requires using Huan Jing Bu Shen Wan to replenish Yin Water, ensuring that essence returns and is sufficient.
