Formulas for Treating Various Snake Bites:
**For snake bites where the wound has healed but residual toxin remains in the flesh, causing lingering pain and itching:**
Take one sheng (approx. 2 liters) each of large and small garlic, crush them together, pour hot water over the mixture to extract the juice, and irrigate the wound with this juice. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Formula for treating various snake bites:**
Crush purple amaranth leaves, drink one sheng of the juice, and mix the dregs with a small amount of water to apply as a poultice on the wound. Additionally, crush winter melon root and apply it as a compress. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Another formula:**
Crush *Changsi* leaves (leaves of Phytolacca acinosa), extract the juice, and drink one sheng. Apply the dregs to the wound. Also, apply fresh leaves of *Guimu* (Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae) thinly over the area to relieve pain. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Formula for treating various snake bites:**
Chew dried ginger and apply it directly to the wound. Recovery will occur within three or four applications. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Another formula:**
Boil a decoction of Evodia fruit (Wuzhuyu) and soak or wet-compress the wound with it; recovery is immediate. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Another formula:**
Crush garlic and apply it to the site. Adding a small amount of salt and fermented soybeans (Douchi) and crushing them together yields even better results. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**Formula for treating venomous snake bites:**
Apply earwax from an ox to the wound; this is effective. (*Zheng Lei Ben Cao*, Vol. 17)
**Formula for treating pit viper bites:**
Urinate on the bite site using urine from a woman. (*Yi Xin Fang*, Vol. 18)
**Another formula:**
Have a woman sit on the bite site. (*Yi Xin Fang*, Vol. 18)
**Formula for treating bites by snakes and various venoms:**
Melt beeswax with fire and drip it into the wound. (*Yi Xin Fang*, Vol. 18)
**Formula for treating pain caused by snake bone splinters entering the body:**
Take iron filings (Tiejing) the size of a soybean and blow them into the wound using a tube. (*Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang*, Vol. 7)
**Formula for releasing a snake that has coiled around a person and refuses to let go:**
Pour hot water over the snake; it will immediately release. If hot water is unavailable, having someone urinate on it will also cause it to release. (*Yi Xin Fang*, Vol. 18)
**Method to repel various snakes when entering mountains and grasslands:**
Ingredients: Dried Ginger (Shengjiang), Raw Musk (Shexiang), Realgar (Xionghuang).
Grind these three ingredients in equal proportions, place them in a small crimson silk pouch, and wear it. Men should wear it on the left side, women on the right side. Snakes will avoid the wearer. If bitten by a snake, use this preparation to treat the injury. If musk is unavailable, mixing with *Shegong* (a toxic plant preparation) and wearing it is also excellent for treating various toxins. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
**The Immortal’s Method for Entering Mountains:**
Although there are many herbs to repel snakes, Realgar (Xionghuang) from Wudu is considered the best. Carrying a piece of it, traditionally tied with a five-liang weight to the elbow, ensures that no snakes or poisonous creatures dare to attack. If others are bitten, grind this mineral to treat them. Additionally, carrying pills of *Wugu Huang Wan* is beneficial because they contain centipedes. When people enter mountains to cut wood or build boats, they may encounter large red-footed centipedes kept in tubes, but one must first undergo this protective ritual before proceeding. Otherwise, upon reaching the mouth of the mountain pass, stand still, visualize five snakes, hold your breath, and pierce the air with a curved object. Then step back two paces to the left, visualize thousands of centipedes covering your body, and proceed without fear. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*, Vol. 40)
