There was a nobleman suffering from a carbuncle (Ju disease), whose condition was not yet stabilized when thirst appeared; he drank several sheng of water in one day. I then presented this prescription. The other physicians laughed and said, "If this medicine can stop thirst, we shall no longer practice medicine!" All the physicians had used herbs such as Chaenomelis Fructus (Mu Gua, 木瓜), Perillae Folium (Zi Su Ye, 紫苏), Mume Fructus (Wu Mei, 乌梅), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Ren Shen, 人参), Poria (Fu Ling, 茯苓), and Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chi Shao, 芍药) to generate fluids and stop thirst. After taking large amounts, his thirst became even worse. Several days passed with no effect. Reluctantly, they used my medicine. After three days of administration, the thirst stopped. Consequently, they believed it completely and took it for a long time. Not only did the thirst cease, but their Qi and Blood became stronger, their food intake doubled, and their physical strength exceeded that of their youth. The use of this medicine was not due to my stubbornness, but indeed has a historical source. Since childhood, I heard my father say: A scholar-official suffered from thirst. Physicians universally used medicines for thirst, treating him for years without relief. A famous physician instructed him to take Jiajian Bawei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill). Within half a year, the disease was cured. The physician analyzed the pathology, stating: "Current physicians mostly use herbs to awaken the Spleen, generate fluids, and stop thirst, which is a mistake! This disease originates from the depletion of Kidney Water, which cannot moisten upwards, causing Heart Fire to flare up and fail to descend (Heart-Kidney non-interaction), scorching fluids and generating thirst. Now, by taking Bawei Wan, the Heart Fire is lowered, and Kidney Water is generated, so the thirst will naturally stop." He further analyzed the properties, saying: "Among them, Schisandrae Fructus (Wu Wei Zi, 五味子) is the most effective. This single herb alone can generate Kidney Water, tonify evenly, and descend Heart Qi, yielding great efficacy." My family treasured this prescription and witnessed its effectiveness personally, so I dare to record it in detail, enabling those with thirst to believe these words, take it diligently for results, and not be confused by mediocre physicians, hoping to promote the intent of predecessors in creating prescriptions to benefit others.
When an abscess wound is about to heal, it is most taboo to use astringent medicines that hastily close the wound. One should only apply Shenyi Gao (Divine Variation Plaster). It is common to see ignorant people making false claims, disrupting this principle, merely because patients are weary of care or physicians are eager for profit, failing to consider that if toxins are not fully expelled, the disease will return, leading to untreatable death.
1. To treat chronic abscesses where the wound does not heal, with white flesh and little pus or blood, this indicates cold stagnation at the wound site, caused by the patient's depletion of Qi and Blood and lack of circulation. The appropriate treatment is to wash with White Northern Mugwort Decoction, apply Shenyi Gao, and take Painong Neibu San (Pus-Discharging and Internal-Nourishing Powder) frequently. Take one handful of good Northern Mugwort leaves daily, decoct strongly in a clay vessel. In a wind-sheltered place, while hot, pour the mugwort decoction over the clean flesh around the wound. Use old silk to hold the leaves and pour hot liquid over it once a day. Avoid wind after washing. Also burn pine resin and smoke the wound for a long time, then apply Shenyi Gao. The wound must not be seen by people who dislike foul odors; if this taboo is not observed, the wound will not settle, and the medicine will be ineffective.
2. For patients with abscesses who have been mistakenly covered with toxic drugs by incompetent physicians, or injured by needles and knives, preventing muscle growth and wound closure, absolutely do not use astringent closing agents. Instead, wash alternately with Zhu Ti Tang (Pig Trotter Decoction) and Northern Mugwort Decoction, apply Shenyi Gao, and take Painong Neibu San.
3. The previous prescriptions are suitable for those living in towns or counties with financial means. If one lives in the countryside or lacks funds to buy medicine, one may only use Luteng Jiu (Egret Vine Wine). Take it continuously until the abscess ruptures, then apply Shenyi Gao. The ingredients in Shenyi Gao are not rare or expensive. Having treated many farmers and villagers with these methods previously, the success rate has been high.

Grind into fine powder. Before use, wash the abscess with Zhu Ti Tang (Pig Trotter Decoction). Take about one spoonful of this powder, sprinkle onto the surface of the plaster, and apply near the wound. Effect is miraculous. When using Shenyi Gao, first measure the abscess size, spread on paper flower, then sprinkle this powder on the plaster so it reaches the wound first. If the wound is wide and not hard, this is unnecessary.
Neituo Huangqi Wan (Internal-Pushing Astragalus Pill): For injuries to collaterals from acupuncture/scarification, resulting in continuous flow of white pus and red fluid.
Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, 8 liang, raw) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 liang, washed and dried) Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, bark removed) Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) Ruxiang (Olibanum, separately ground) Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, above four each 1 liang)
