Treats facial cyanosis and blackness due to wind deficiency, inability to perceive sunlight or moonlight, Hong Kong foot (podagra/foot swelling and numbness), bi-syndrome with weakness, meridian stiffness, facial cyanosis indicating kidney pathology, and inability to perceive light indicating liver pathology. The treatment strategy involves tonifying the kidney and treating the liver.
Ganjuhua Tuzi (Chrysanthemum Flower Heads) (3 liang), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis), Tianxiong (Aconiti Radix Preparata) (each 1.5 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 liang 6 zhu), Shuyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Zhongru (Gypsum Fibrosum), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Jiangjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one fangcunbi (a measure equivalent to a square inch spoonful) with wine, three times daily. If ineffective, increase to two fangcunbi, taken at any time.
For tonifying deficiency:
Take four liang of plump, high-quality Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), extract the juice, remove the dregs, and cook into a porridge. When the porridge is half-cooked, wrap one hundred grains of Jiaojiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) and one slice of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) in cotton cloth, put them into the porridge, cook until done, then remove the cloth bag and eat.
For dispelling wind from the four limbs:
Take one fen of Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), remove the radicle, decoct to obtain the juice, remove dregs, and prepare as porridge for consumption according to normal dietary methods.
For resolving stagnant qi:
Take Zisuzi (Perillae Fructus), stir-fry until slightly yellow and fragrant, grind, filter to obtain the juice, remove dregs, and prepare as porridge for consumption.
This formula states: Sangzhi (Mori Ramulus) has a neutral nature, neither cold nor hot, and can be taken regularly. It treats generalized pruritus due to wind, dryness, Hong Kong foot, limb spasms, rebellious qi, dizziness, asthma, cough, aids digestion, and promotes urination.
Take Sangzhi (Mori Ramulus) similar in thickness to an arrow shaft, finely cut, three dou. Stir-fry until slightly yellow. Decoct with six dou of water to obtain three dou of liquid. Remove dregs. Further concentrate using a double-boiler method (chongtang) to obtain two sheng. Add Bai Mi (Mel) one he and Huangming (Colla Corii Asini) [melted].
Treats wind-toxin causing Hong Kong foot with flowing accumulation, heavy pain and spasms in the waist and legs, and seeing black spots before the eyes due to kidney deficiency.
Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix), Bixie (Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Hei Gouji (Cervi Spina Corneum), Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills each time on an empty stomach, washed down with Mugua Tang (Chaenomeles Speciosi Decoction).
Powder the body to induce sweating, thereby consolidating yang qi, resisting wind-cold, fog, and dampness, and stopping miliaria, wind-rash, and pruritus.
Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Bencao (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma), Lianhua (Meliae Flos) (each 1 liang), Dingxiang (Eugeniae Flos) (2 liang), Yingfen (half sheng).
Grind all together uniformly into a fine powder and dust on the body to stop sweating. (Editor's note: The identity of "Yingfen" is unknown; it is suspected to be glutinous rice flour.)
Formula for promoting digestion, warming primal qi, and removing stagnation:
Wherever one walks, stands, sits, or lies, use the hands to rub the flanks and abdomen. When the chest and diaphragm feel open and comfortable, place both hands below the umbilicus and move them back and forth like sawing wood. This unblocks the bladder qi. Clench fists and massage the kidney area on the back. Gradually resolve the stagnant qi in the chest and diaphragm. This is the major method for regulating qi. After midnight and before noon, in a sealed room, lie supine on a thick, soft mattress. The pillow should be level with the body. Extend hands and feet. Hold the joints of the thumbs, keeping hands four to five cun away from the body. Whenever there is qi... the body does not... (Text ends abruptly)
