Ping An: This section, from the beginning to the end of the chapter, is found in Volume 8, Chapter 28 "Tong Ping Xu Shi Lun" (Discussion on Evaluating Deficiency and Excess) of *Suwen* (Basic Questions), and also in Chapters 6 of Volume 11 and Chapter 5 of Volume 12 of *Jiayi Jing* (The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion).
In treating Xiao Dao (Wasting-and-Thirsting Syndrome), Pu Ji (Sudden Collapse/Stroke-like Fainting), Pian Ku (Hemiplegia), Wei Jue (Flaccidity with Cold Extremities), Qi Man (Chest and Abdominal Fullness), and Fa Ni (Rebellious Qi Ascending), these are diseases arising from rich and fatty foods among obese and noble individuals. (These six conditions are diseases caused by rich and fatty foods in obese and noble people. Ping An: In *Jiayi Jing*, "Wei Jue Qi Man Fa Ni" is written as "Jue Qi Ni Man".) Ge Sai (Diaphragmatic Obstruction), Bi (Orifice Closure), Jue (Qi and Blood Severance), and Shang Xia Bu Tong (Obstruction between Upper and Lower Orifices) are diseases caused by sudden sorrow and anger. (These four conditions are illnesses generated by sudden grief and worry. Ge Sai refers to obstruction in the diaphragm. Bi refers to the closure of the seven orifices. Yi Qi (belching) and descending Qi refer to the Qi mechanisms of the upper and lower body.) Sudden Jue Ni (Rebellious Qi/Collapse) accompanied by deafness and blockage is Pi Sai (Unilateral Obstruction). Internal blockage leading to internal Qi non-circulation is due to Wind pathogen, resulting in internal stagnation. (Sudden Jue Ni with deafness and unilateral blockage. Internal Qi suddenly becomes full and pressing, failing to circulate internally, constituting a Wind disease. Due to the stagnation and obstruction of Spleen Qi, which fails to flow smoothly internally, emaciation and pathogenic retention occur. Ping An: "Bu Tong, Pi Sai Ye" in *Suwen* and *Jiayi Jing* reads "Pi Sai Bi Bu Tong, Nei Qi Bao Bo Ye". "Bi Nei Nei Bu Tong, Feng Ye, Nei Liu Zhuo Ye" in *Suwen* and *Jiayi Jing* reads "Bu Cong Nei Wai Zhong Feng Zhi Bing, Gu Shou Liu Zhuo Ye".) Limping (Bo) is a disease caused by Cold, Dampness, and Wind pathogens. (Wind-Dampness Qi arises in limping and Bi syndrome diseases. [Character missing/variant], pronounced 'shi'. Bo, some versions write [character missing].)
Ping An: This section is found in "Tong Ping Xu Shi Lun" of *Suwen*, and also in Chapter 2 of Volume 11 of *Jiayi Jing*.
Huang Dan (Jaundice), Bao Tong (Sudden Pain), Dian Ji (Epilepsy/Juvenile Psychosis), Jue (Collapse/Rebellious Qi), and Kuang (Mania) are generated by long-term Qi rebellion. (These five diseases are generated by long-term Qi rebellion. Ping An: In *Jiayi Jing*, "Huang Dan" is written as "Guan Ju", with a note stating: "*Suwen* writes 'Huang Dan'." "Bao Tong" is written as "Bao Bing", and there is no "Jue" character above "Kuang".)
Ping An: This section is found in *Suwen* and *Jiayi Jing* in the same compilation as above.
Imbalance of the Five Zang Organs is generated by obstruction of the Six Fu Organs. (The Six Fu Organs receive Grain Qi and transmit it to the Five Zang Organs; therefore, obstruction of the Six Fu Organs leads to imbalance of the Zang Organs.)
