Zheng Renxing (Frontal Human Figure) Chapter 6
When infants and children have excessive nasal discharge, it is due to the fontanel area being struck by wind pathogens and lung cold. Moxibustion should be applied to Xinhui (CV22), one acupoint, three moxa cones. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain. It is located one cun above Shangxing (GV23), directly in line with the nose.
For infantile acute throat obstruction (acute pharyngeal swelling and blockage), moxibustion should be applied to Tiantu (CV22), one moxa cone. It is located three cun below the laryngeal prominence on the neck, between the two bones. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For infantile food-stagnation epilepsy (epileptic-like disorders caused by dietary accumulation), attacks are preceded by chills and shivering. Moxibustion should be applied five fen above Jiwei (CV15), three moxa cones. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For infantile ox-epilepsy, characterized by staring eyes and abdominal distension at onset, moxibustion should be applied to Jiwei (CV15), one acupoint, three moxa cones. It is located five fen below the xiphoid process, in the depression. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For infantile horse-epilepsy, characterized by an open mouth, head shaking, body opisthotonos, and neighing sounds, moxibustion should be applied to Pucan (BL60), two acupoints, three moxa cones each. It is located in the depression at the junction of white skin on the lower aspect of the calcaneus; the foot should be arched to locate the point. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For infantile scrotal swelling, moxibustion should be applied to Neikunlun (KI11), two acupoints, three moxa cones each. It is located five fen posterior to the medial malleolus, in the depression between the tendon and bone. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
Bei Renxing (Dorsal Human Figure) Chapter 1
For infantile rectal prolapse with bloody diarrhea, where organ contraction causes unbearable pain during defecation, moxibustion should be applied to Baihui (GV20), one acupoint, three moxa cones. It is located in the depression at the center of the vertex. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For newborns within fourteen days of birth who exhibit trismus (lockjaw), inability to suckle milk, and excessive crying, this is caused by exogenous wind pathogens invading the umbilicus and flowing into the Heart and Spleen meridians, resulting in a stiff tongue, lip spasms, and inability to suckle. Medicinal prescriptions for this condition rarely achieve complete cure; the primary approach is to expel exogenous wind. Moxibustion should be applied to Chengjiang (CV24), one acupoint, seven moxa cones. It is located in the depression below the lower lip ridge. Subsequently, moxibustion should be applied to Jiache (ST6), two acupoints, seven moxa cones each. It is located posterior to the angle of the mandible below the ear. The moxa cone should be the size of a sparrow's droppings.
For infants and children who experience headache during meals and heat sensation in the five centers (palms, soles, and chest), moxibustion should be applied to Yixi (BL42), two acupoints, one moxa cone each. It is located three cun lateral to the spinous process of the sixth thoracic vertebra, in the depression. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
For infants and children aged three to five years who suddenly develop white corneal opacities covering the pupils every spring and autumn, accompanied by unbearable pain, moxibustion should be applied one moxa cone above the level of the ninth thoracic vertebra. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain.
