Women suffering from red and white leukorrhea (vaginal discharge) are all caused by irregular menstruation, excessive sexual activity, or postpartum blood deficiency. Additionally, damp-phlegm in the stomach may flow downward, seeping into the Bladder to cause leukorrhea. Symptoms include soreness and weakness of the lower back, dizziness, blurred vision, distending pain in the hypogastrium, weakness of the four limbs, fatigue, and general debility. Treatment involves using Bajiu Tang (Eight-Ingredient Decoction) with modifications, taken together with Zhidai Wan (Leukorrhea-Stopping Pill). Obese individuals often suffer from leukorrhea due to phlegm-dampness, while thin individuals may also suffer from it due to internal heat. A woman suffered from dizziness, expectoration of phlegm, chest fullness, and shortness of breath, which were slightly relieved by eating. She had been troubled by leukorrhea for over twenty years, and various medicines were ineffective. This was Qi deficiency leading to fluid retention; once the fluid retention was resolved, the leukorrhea would heal spontaneously. Therefore, she took Liujunzi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction) in the morning and Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill) in the evening, showing results within a month. (Formula see "Tonification" section.)
Another woman suffered from leukorrhea and weakness of the four limbs. I said, "The four limbs belong to Earth." This indicated Spleen and Stomach weakness with damp-phlegm pouring downward. She was cured using Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) and Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction).
Another woman, over sixty years old, suffered from internal heat, dry mouth, dizziness, expectoration of phlegm, and leukorrhea upon exertion. Someone used phlegm-resolving and Qi-moving agents, causing previous symptoms to worsen, food intake to decrease further, and occasional numbness in the limbs. Persistently taking wind-dispelling and phlegm-resolving drugs led to constant limb numbness, cold or hot hands and feet, and gradual emaciation. I said, "The syndrome belongs to Spleen Qi deficiency failing to generate Lung Qi; wind-dispelling agents have damaged the meridians. One should nourish the source of transformation." Thus, she used Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Fuling, Banxia, and Pa Jiang (processed ginger). After more than twenty doses, Spleen Qi gradually recovered, food intake increased, and all symptoms suddenly resolved. (Formula see "Tonification" section.)
