At the end of each season (the last eighteen days), pathogenic factors circulate in the "Yellow Flesh" syndrome. Its origin lies in the mutual obstruction between the Taiyin and Yangming meridians; as solar terms shift, the cold-dampness of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) becomes disordered, giving rise to the Guan-Ge (obstruction and reversal) disease of the four seasons. This causes the Zang-Fu organs to be affected by pestilential qi at any time, with Yang Qi leaking outward and Yin Qi lying latent inward.
When the Spleen organ suffers from warm-toxin disease involving Yin-Yang toxic vapors, symptoms include a heavy head and stiff neck, hard skin and muscles, presenting contradictory pathological features. If the Zang is excess, it is injured by Yang epidemic pathogens; heat toxins accumulate forming nodules, starting below the neck, spreading heat toxins among the muscle layers, dispersing upward into the hairline, and penetrating downward through the temporal region, causing hidden fever that is continuous and unbroken. (This prescription should not be prepared as a boiled powder.) Use Xuan Shen Han Shui Shi Tang (Scrophularia and Halloysite Decoction).
Ingredients: Ling Yang Jiao (Antelope Horn) slices, Da Qing (Isatidis Radix) (each 1 liang); Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), She Gan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) (each 1.5 liang); Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix) (4 liang); Han Shui Shi (Halloysitum Rubrum) (2.5 liang); Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Semen) (2 liang).
Preparation: Coarsely crush the herbs, add seven sheng of water, decoct until three sheng remain, remove dregs, add Mang Xiao and stir until dissolved evenly. Take one zhan cup warm, three to four times daily.
Bian Que stated: Moxibustion on Ganshu (BL18) and Pishu (BL20) acupoints treats the seasonal circulating diseases.
During the three months of autumn, the "White Qi" disease occurs. Its source stems from the Taiyang Qi stagnating in the Taiyin. When the Taiyin is invaded by excessive evil qi, the meridians become congested, causing hair and skin to stand erect. Attempting to vent the evil qi damages the Zang-Fu organs with warmth, leading to pestilential infection according to the manifestations.
When the Lung organ suffers from warm disease involving Yin-Yang toxic vapors, the pathology presents contradictions. If the Fu is deficient, it is injured by Yin evil, manifesting as alternating chills and fever, damaging Lung Qi, causing sudden cough, vomiting, and regurgitation. (This prescription should not be prepared as a boiled powder.) Use Shi Gao Xing Ren Tang (Gypsum and Apricot Seed Decoction).
Ingredients: Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (4 liang); Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Qian Hu (Peucedani Radix) (each 2 liang); Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 liang); Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba), Zi Wan (Asteris Radix), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Da Qing (Isatidis Radix), Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Ge Gen (Puerariae Radix) (each 1.5 liang).
Preparation: Coarsely crush the herbs, add nine sheng of water, decoct until four sheng remain. Take one zhan cup warm, three to four times daily.
When the Lung organ suffers from warm disease involving Yin-Yang toxic vapors, the pathology presents contradictions. If the Zang is excess, it is damaged by Yang toxin, manifesting as body heat with macules, panting, and thirst for drinking. (This prescription should not be prepared as a boiled powder.) Use Shi Gao Cong Bai Tang (Gypsum and Scallion White Decoction).
Ingredients: Chi (Fermented Soybean) (half sheng); Cong Bai Lian Xu (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus with roots), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (each 4 liang); Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Da Qing (Isatidis Radix), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) (each 1.5 liang).
Preparation: Coarsely crush the herbs, add eight sheng of water, decoct until three and a half sheng remain, remove dregs, add Mang Xiao and stir until dissolved evenly. Take one zhan cup warm, three to four times daily.
