Nasal congestion occurs because Lung Qi opens into the nose; in terms of Yin-Yang, this is Yang. If Qi is invaded by Wind-Heat, stagnation occurs in the nasal cavity causing blockage. If Cold invades the skin or the Lungs are affected by Wind, or if the nursing mother blows air onto the infant's fontanelle while sleeping at night, Cold will stagnate at the fontanelle. This prevents the retention of body fluids, leading to excessive rhinorrhea. If Cold persists for a long time without dissipating, thick mucus accumulates, impairing the sense of smell and causing nasal obstruction. If accompanied by Heat, the nasal passages become dry.
Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepeta Spikelet), Xixin Leaf (Asarum Leaf), Zhuya Zaojiao (Toothed Pod of Black Locust), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) (each 5 qian).
Grind into powder, add Congbai (Scallion White) and pound into a paste. Wrap in red silk and apply to the fontanelle at night.
Treats nasal congestion in infants.

Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn - *Note: Use substitutes like Buffalo Horn in modern practice*), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), Xixin (Asarum Root), Mahuang (Ephedra Herb), Gancao (Licorice Root), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Longnao (Borneol), Shexiang (Musk).

Infants born with eyes tightly closed ("Yantuan") result from the mother consuming excessive amounts of heat-toxic substances during pregnancy, causing Heat to accumulate internally in the five Zang organs. If the infant fears light and keeps eyes closed, it indicates insufficient congenital essence and brilliance. "Tai Chi Yan" (Neonatal Red Eye) occurs due to unclean bathing at birth, where impure fluids soak the eyes, causing the eyelids to become red and ulcerated, which may not heal even as the child grows. One should avoid toxic foods, take internal clearing and resolving herbs, and wash externally with decoctions. Another condition is "Xue Yan" (Blood Eye), which happens when the amniotic sac ruptures before delivery. After the infant is born, blood follows down; stasis presses upon the eyes. In severe cases, it infiltrates the cornea, obscuring the pupil; in mild cases, there is external swelling, redness, and ulceration of the eyelids. Using cold-natured medicines will inevitably chill the Zang-Fu organs. Instead, use Shengdi Huang Tang (Rehmannia Decoction) to promote the circulation of Qi and Blood. For redness, apply Xiongdan (Bear Bile) as eye drops.
