结核连续者，为瘰 。形长如蛤者，为马刀。
〔罗〕曲阳县刘禅师，善治疮疡瘰 ，其效更捷，授予四方，太乙膏、玉烛散、克效散、翠玉
膏，用之每每见效。
太乙膏治 子疮神效。
没药（四钱） 清油（一斤） 黄丹（五两） 脑子（研，一钱） 麝香（三钱） 轻粉 乳香（各二钱）
上以清油黄丹熬成膏，用柳枝搅，又用憨葱七枝旋旋加下，葱尽为度，下火不住手搅，至滴水
不散，却入没、乳、脑、麝、轻粉等味搅匀，瓷器内盛用。
克效散
斑蝥（四十九个，不去翅足，炒） 官桂（半钱） 粳米（四十九粒） 赤小豆（四十九粒）
砂（半钱）
上五味，研为细末，初服一字，次服半钱，次服三字，又次服四字，煎樟柳根汤送下，
空心服。以小便淋沥，并作涩为效。恶心呕吐黄水无妨，其瘰 日日自消矣。
玉烛散治瘰 自消，和血通经。
当归 芍药 大黄 甘草 熟地 芒硝 黄芩 川芎（各等分）
上为粗末，每服三钱，水一盏，生姜三片，煎至七分，去渣温服，日进一服，七八日效。
翠玉膏（方见 疮。）
〔《杨氏家藏》〕治瘰 方。
荆芥 白僵蚕 黑牵牛（各二钱） 斑蝥（二十八个，去头翅足，用大米炒）
上为末，临卧时先将滑石末一钱用米饮调服，半夜时又一服，五更初却用温酒调药一钱或二三
钱，量强弱用。服讫，如小便无恶物行，次日早再进一服。又不行，第三日五更初，先进白糯
米稀粥汤，再进前药一服，更以灯心汤下，调琥珀末一钱，重服。以小便内利去恶毒为愈。如小
便痛，用青黛一钱，以甘草汤调送下即止。
〔严〕三圣丸治瘰 。
丁香（五十粒） 斑蝥（十个） 麝香（另研，一钱）
上为末，用盐豉五十粒，汤浸研烂如泥，和前药令匀，丸如绿豆大。每服五七丸，食前温酒送
下，日进三服。五七日外觉小便淋沥，是药之效，或便下如青筋膜之状，是病之根也。忌湿面
毒食。
〔《保》〕连翘汤
连翘（一斤） 瞿麦（一斤） 大黄（三两） 甘草（二两）
上锉，每服一两，水二碗，煎至一盏半，早食后巳时服。在项两边属足少阳经，服药十余日
后，可于临泣穴灸二七壮，服药不可住，至五六十日方效。一方，加大黄、木通、贝母（一作知母。）
各五两，雄黄七分，槟榔半两，减甘草不用，同前药为细末，熟水调下三五钱。
〔无〕必胜丸治瘰 不以年深月近，及脑后两边有小结块，连复数个，兼痨瘵腹内有块。
鲫鱼（一个，去肠并子） 雄黄（一粒，鸡子大） 砂（一钱。以上二味并入在鲫鱼腹内仰安，
鱼于炭火烧，烟尽取出） 蜈蚣（全者，一条） 蓬术（半两） 栀子（五个） 皂角（二挺。
以上四味并烧存性） 蓖麻子（五个，去皮，灯上烧） 黄明胶（三文）
上为末，另用皂角二挺，去皮捶碎，以水三碗，揉去滓，煮精羊肉四两烂软，入轻粉五匣。
男子，乳汁半两，同研成膏，和药末丸，如绿豆大，朱砂为衣。温酒浸，晨下十丸，一服。至晚看
肉疙瘩子，若项有五个，则以五服药取之，视其所生多少，以为服数，既可，更进数服。
白花蛇散治久漏瘰 ，发于顶腋间，憎寒发热，或痛或不痛。
白花蛇（酒浸，软去皮骨，焙干，二两） 犀角（镑，半两） 黑牵牛（半两，半生半炒）
青皮（半两）
上为末，每服二钱，加腻粉半钱，研匀，五更糯米饮调下。巳时利下恶物，乃疮之根也。更
候十余日，再进一服。忌发风壅热物。如已成疮，一月可效，神验。
〔世〕小犀角丸常服除去根本，截其源流，应效如神，诸 并宜服之。
犀角 青皮 陈皮（各一两） 黑牵牛（一两，半生半炒） 连翘（半两）
上为细末，用皂角二条，去皮弦子，炮捶以布绞取汁一碗许，又用新薄荷二斤，研取汁，同
熬成膏，以前药末为丸，如桐子大。每服三十丸，连翘煎汤食后服，间以薄荷茶汤服。
〔子和〕一妇人病瘰 ，延及胸臆，皆成大疮，相连无好皮肉，求戴人疗之。戴人曰∶火淫
所胜，治以咸寒。命以沧盐吐之，即一吐而着痂。次用凉膈散、解毒汤等剂，皮肉反复如初。
〔世〕治瘰 未破者如神，百药不应者累效。
杏树叶（阴干，为末，五分） 万年霜（火 ，为末，二分半。即人中白） 蝙蝠（火焙干，
为末，二分半） 白花蛇蜕（烧为灰存性，为末，二分半） 蜜蜂（七个，焙为末）
上将杏树叶末，用清水调，却入前四件药末，调匀敷患处。却将皮纸一片，用针刺孔，贴
药上，如干，用清水
就纸上刷之。每一昼夜换药一次。如面上发热，服清凉饮子数帖，其热自退。
败散瘰 方神效。
白胶香 海螵蛸 降真香（用心，无土气者）
上等分为末，掺患处，外以水纸掩之，一夕而退。已破者。
蜜蜂（二十一个） 蛇蜕（七分半） 蜈蚣（二条，端午前收者）
上用香油四两，将前三药，入油内用文武火熬成，入光粉二两，用桑枝七条如箸大者，急搅
候冷，出火气，七昼夜方可用，纸摊作膏贴患处。（以上二方得之于义门郑氏，累验不须服药，
粘贴五七日便消。）
〔丹〕贴瘰 方。
用大乌头五个火炮，五个生用，并去皮脐。大皂荚二条半，以好米醋二钟刷，炙醋干为度，
一半焙干，并去黑皮，又用炒糯米一百六十粒，同研末，以好米醋于火上略顿微暖，敷贴患处。
入蜜少许尤佳。不问有头无头，大 五枚，日干细研，酥调如面，日两度贴之。（出《圣惠方》， 一
作蜘蛛。）或破或不破，项以下至胸前者，皆治之。用九真藤如鸡卵大洗，生嚼，常服之。
取叶捣覆疮上，数服即止。（出《斗门方》，九真藤即何首乌也。）
〔无〕蜗牛散治瘰 溃与未溃，皆可治。
蜗牛（不拘多少，以竹签穿，瓦上晒干，烧存性）
上为末，入轻粉少许，猪骨髓调，用纸花量疮大小贴之。一法，以带壳蜗牛七个，生用
取去肉，入丁香七枚于七壳内，烧存性，与肉同研成膏，用纸花贴之。
〔海〕项后侧少阳经中疙瘩，不辨肉色，不问大小，及月日深远，或有赤硬肿痛用。
生山药（一块，去皮） 蓖麻子（一个）
上研匀摊贴之如神。（丹溪云∶山药补阳气，生者能消肿硬。经曰虚之所在，邪必凑之，留
而不去，其病为实，非肿硬之谓乎。故其气则留滞，自不容不行。）
〔世〕粉金散
黄柏 草乌（等分） 为末，蜜调敷之。
清凉散饼
山慈姑（生用） 良姜（等分）
上俱捣为饼，去汁罨之，能散去寒热。或以山慈菰磨，调酒服，大妙。
此药大能散 如神。
〔东〕龙泉散涂 。
瓦粉 龙泉粉（炒，即磨刀石上粉也） 昆布（去上） 广术 京三棱（各半两。酒浸炒干）
上件同为极细末，煎热水调涂之，用此去疾尤速。
〔世〕治 ，用鲫鱼、芫花，烧灰存性，水调敷。治鼠 。小嫩鼠末出毛者焙干，蝙蝠粪小麦
炒，鬼箭根焙干，各为末，和匀油调敷，干再敷之。
〔《本》〕治鼠 瘰 。刺 皮瓦上炒，上一味研为末，加水银粉干敷。
〔《广》〕治瘰 经年不瘥者。生玄参捣碎敷上，日一易之。
〔《外》〕治瘰 ，烧野狼屎灰敷上。
〔《本》〕治诸 疾。
朱砂 砒霜 砂 马牙硝（各等分）
上乳钵内研细，面糊搜如香附子状。相疮口大小作之，尽送入疮口中。恐肿时用薄荷研细涂
之。待收口，却将大柏皮、白丁香并为末，尽入孔中。如边不干，却用江子去壳，不拘多少，
用麻油煎令赤，去火气后，去江子入蜡合如膏，看疮口大小涂之，及将白芨末水调涂上，立效。
治漏 。用蛇菰子不拘多少，瓦上晒干为末，用纸捻蘸药入疮口，立效。（蛇菰子未详，
恐即慈菰子。）
〔丹〕又方 用大田螺肉烧存性，为末，麝香少许，湿则干掺，干则油调敷。
〔《脉》〕人年五六十，其脉浮大者，痹侠背行，苦肠鸣，马刀挟瘿者，皆为劳得之。
又治瘰 。
人参 白术 当归 陈皮 芍药（酒浸。各一钱） 川芎 香附 茯苓 半夏（各五分） 甘草（少）
上作一服，姜二片，以金银藤煎汤一钟半，煎前药，食后就吞绛宫丸五十粒。
又方绛宫丸
大黄（酒蒸，二两） 山楂 连翘 川芎 当归（酒洗） 麦芽 桃仁 芦荟 甘草
芸苔子（一两） 黄连（酒浸） 南星（酒浸） 海藻（酒洗，一两半） 升麻 羌活 桔梗
防风（半两） 白术（二两） 黄芩（酒炒）
上用神曲糊为丸。已破，加人参一两作膏，用甘草节、僵蚕同煎。
治颈上块动者。夏枯草末（六钱） 甘草末（一钱）
上和匀，每服一钱至二钱，茶清调下，食后。
〔《本》〕言夏枯草大治瘰 ，散结气，有补养厥阴血脉之功，而经不言。观其能退寒热，
虚者尽可倚仗。若实者，以行散之药佐之，外施艾灸，亦渐取效。此草三四月开花，夏至边便枯，
盖禀纯阳之气，得阴则枯耳。世人不知，故表而出之。内泻病本之法，并见前表里条。
〔东〕连翘散坚汤治耳下至缺盆，或至肩上生疮，坚硬如石，动之无根者，名马刀，疮从手
足少阳经中来也，或生两胁，或已流脓作疮，或未破，并皆治之。
当归（酒洗，半两） 黄芩（生，半两） 土瓜根（酒炒，一两） 芍药（一钱） 柴胡根（一两二钱）
连翘（半两） 苍术（三钱） 草龙胆（酒洗，一两） 黄芩（酒炒，七钱） 甘草（炙，六钱） 黄连（酒炒，三钱）
广术（酒炒，半两） 京三棱（细锉，半两，同广术酒洗一次，微炒干）
上以一半为细末，炼蜜为丸，如绿豆大。每服一百丸，或一百五十丸。一半 咀，每服半两。
水一盏八分，先浸半日煎去渣，热服，临卧头低脚高，去枕而卧，每口作十次咽，留一口送下丸子，
服毕如常安卧。
升阳调经汤治绕项下或至颊车生瘰 ，此症出足阳明胃经中来也。若其疮深远隐曲，肉低，
是足少阴肾中来也，是戊传癸水，夫传妻，俱作块子，坚硬大小不等，并皆治之，或作丸服亦得。
升麻（八钱） 连翘（半两） 葛根（五钱） 草龙胆（酒炒，半两） 桔梗（半两） 细黄芩（酒炒，六钱）
黄柏（酒炒二次，去皮，七钱） 知母（酒洗，炒，一两） 广术（酒洗，炒，一两） 甘草（炙，半两）
京三棱（酒洗，微同广术炒，五钱） 黄连（去须，酒洗，五钱）
上秤一半作丸，炼蜜为丸，如绿豆大。每服一百丸，或一百五十丸。一半 咀，每服半两。
若能食，大便硬，可旋加至七八钱止，水二盏，先浸半日，煎至一盏，去渣热服。卧身脚在高处，
去枕头，噙一口，作十次咽之，留一口在后送下丸子，服药毕，卧如常，此治法也。
散肿溃坚汤治马刀疮，结硬如石，在耳下至缺盆，或至肩上，或至胁下，皆手足少阳经中；
及瘰 遍下颏，或至颊车，坚而不溃，在足阳明经中所出。或二疮已破，及流脓水，并皆治之。
服药多少，临病斟酌。量病患饮食多少，大便硬软，以意消息之。
柴胡梢（四钱） 升麻（六钱） 桔梗（半两） 草龙胆（酒炒，半两） 黄芩梢（酒洗，炒，八钱，一半生）

昆布（去土，半两）
上 咀，每服六钱或七钱，水二盏，先浸半日，煎至一盏，去渣稍热服。于卧处伸脚在高处，头微低，每
噙一口，作十次咽，至服毕，根据常安卧，取药在胸中停留故也。另攒半料，作细末，炼蜜为丸，
如绿豆大，每服一百丸，此汤留一口送下，更加海藻半两炒，食后量虚实加减多少服，皆仿此例。
救苦胜灵丹汤治马刀挟瘿者，从耳下或耳后下颈至肩上，或入缺盆中者，乃手足少阳经之
分野。其瘰 在于颏下，或至颊车者，乃足阳明经之分野，受心脾之邪而作也。今将二证合治之。
黄 （一钱，护皮毛，实腠理，及活血气，又实表，补元气，乃疮家之圣药也） 人参（三分，
补肺气，如气短及不调而喘者加之） 真漏芦（半钱，勿以白头翁代之） 升麻（一钱） 葛根（半钱。
此三味俱足阳明本经药） 甘草（半钱，能调中和诸药，泻火益胃） 连翘（一钱，此一味乃十二经
疮中之药不可无者，
能散血结气聚，此疮家之神药也）牡丹皮（三分，去肠胃中留滞宿血） 当归身（三分）
生地黄（三分） 熟地黄（三分，此三味，诸经中和血生血凉血药也） 白芍药（三分，如夏月倍之，
其味酸，其气寒，能补中益气治腹痛，如冬月寒症勿用） 肉桂（二分，大辛热，能散结聚，如
阴症疮疡少用之，此寒因热用之意，又为阴寒覆盖其疮，用大辛热去之，烦躁者勿用） 柴胡（功
结核状肿块连续相连的，称为瘰疬。形状细长像蛤蜊一样的，称为马刀。
〔罗天益记载〕曲阳县刘禅师，擅长治疗疮疡和瘰疬，疗效更加迅速，他将方法传授给四方，使用太乙膏、玉烛散、克效散、翠玉膏，用这些方药每每都能见效。
太乙膏治疗瘰疬神效。
没药（四钱） 清油（一斤） 黄丹（五两） 脑子（研磨，一钱） 麝香（三钱） 轻粉 乳香（各二钱）
以上药物用清油和黄丹熬制成膏，用柳枝搅拌，又加入葱七枝慢慢放入，直到葱全部用完为止，下火不停手搅拌，直到滴入水中不散开，然后放入没药、乳香、脑子、麝香、轻粉等味道搅拌均匀，盛放在瓷器中使用。
克效散
斑蝥（四十九个，不去翅膀和脚，炒制） 官桂（半钱） 粳米（四十九粒） 赤小豆（四十九粒） 砂（半钱）
以上五味药，研成细末，初次服用一字量，第二次服用半钱量，第三次服用三字量，第四次服用四字量，煎樟柳根汤送服，空腹服用。以小便淋漓涩痛为药效显现。恶心呕吐黄水无妨，瘰疬会日日自行消退。
玉烛散治疗瘰疬使其自行消退，调和血液疏通经络。
当归 芍药 大黄 甘草 熟地黄 芒硝 黄芩 川芎（各等分）
以上药物制成粗末，每次服用三钱，用水一盏，生姜三片，煎至七分，去渣温服，每天进服一次，七八天见效。
〔《杨氏家藏方》〕治疗瘰疬方。
荆芥 白僵蚕 黑牵牛（各二钱） 斑蝥（二十八个，去掉头、翅膀和脚，用大米炒制）
以上药物研成末，临睡前先将滑石末一钱用米饮调服，半夜时再服一次，五更初再用温酒调药一钱或二三钱，根据体质强弱决定用量。服药后，如果小便中没有恶物排出，第二天早上再进服一次。如果还不排，第三天五更初，先喝白糯米稀粥汤，再进服前药一次，再用灯心草汤送服，调入琥珀末一钱，加重剂量服用。以小便内利排出恶毒为痊愈。如果小便疼痛，用青黛一钱，用甘草汤调送下即可停止。
〔严用和〕三圣丸治疗瘰疬。
丁香（五十粒） 斑蝥（十个） 麝香（另研，一钱）
以上药物研成末，用盐豉五十粒，热水浸泡研烂如泥，与前药混合均匀，制成绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用五到七丸，饭前用温酒送下，每天进服三次。五到七天后感觉小便淋漓，是药物的药效，或者大便排出像青色筋膜状的东西，这是病的根源。忌食湿面及有毒食物。
〔《保命集》〕连翘汤
连翘（一斤） 瞿麦（一斤） 大黄（三两） 甘草（二两）
以上药物切碎，每次服用一两，用水二碗，煎至一盏半，早饭后巳时服用。病灶在颈部两边属于足少阳经，服药十余日后，可在瞳子髎穴灸十四壮，服药不可中断，到五六十天才见效。另一方案，加大黄、木通、贝母（一作知母）各五两，雄黄七分，槟榔半两，减去甘草不用，同前药研为细末，熟水调下三五钱。
〔王好古〕必胜丸治疗瘰疬，不论病程长短，以及脑后两边有小结块，连续复数个，兼有痨瘵腹内有块者。
鲫鱼（一个，去肠并卵） 雄黄（一粒，鸡蛋大小） 砂（一钱。以上两味并入鲫鱼腹内仰放，鱼在炭火上烧，烟尽取出） 蜈蚣（全条，一条） 蓬术（半两） 栀子（五个） 皂角（二挺。以上四味并烧存性） 蓖麻子（五个，去皮，灯上烧） 黄明胶（三文）
以上药物研成末，另外用皂角二挺，去皮捶碎，用水三碗，揉去滓，煮精羊肉四两至烂软，加入轻粉五匣。男子，用乳汁半两，一同研成膏，和药末制成丸药，如绿豆大，朱砂为衣。温酒浸湿，早晨吞服十丸，一次服完。到了晚上看肉疙瘩子，如果颈部有五个，就用五服药来消除它，观察其生出的多少，作为服药次数，既然有效，再进服几服。
白花蛇散治疗久漏瘰疬，发于头顶腋间，憎寒发热，或痛或不痛。

〔《脉诀》〕人年五六十，其脉浮大者，痹侠背行，苦肠鸣，马刀挟瘿者，皆为劳得之。
又治瘰疬。
人参 白术 当归 陈皮 芍药（酒浸。各一钱） 川芎 香附 茯苓 半夏（各五分） 甘草（少）
以上作一服，姜二片，以金银藤煎汤一钟半，煎前药，食后就吞绛宫丸五十粒。
又方绛宫丸
大黄（酒蒸，二两） 山楂 连翘 川芎 当归（酒洗） 麦芽 桃仁 芦荟 甘草 芸苔子（一两） 黄连（酒浸） 南星（酒浸） 海藻（酒洗，一两半） 升麻 羌活 桔梗 防风（半两） 白术（二两） 黄芩（酒炒）
以上用神曲糊为丸。已破，加人参一两作膏，用甘草节、僵蚕同煎。
治疗颈上块动者。夏枯草末（六钱） 甘草末（一钱）
以上和匀，每服一钱至二钱，茶清调下，食后。
〔《本草》〕言夏枯草大治瘰疬，散结气，有补养厥阴血脉之功，而经不言。观其能退寒热，虚者尽可倚仗。若实者，以行散之药佐之，外施艾灸，亦渐取效。此草三四月开花，夏至边便枯，盖禀纯阳之气，得阴则枯耳。世人不知，故表而出之。内泻病本之法，并见前表里条。
〔李东垣〕连翘散坚汤治疗耳下至缺盆，或至肩上生疮，坚硬如石，动之无根者，名马刀，疮从手足少阳经中来也，或生两胁，或已流脓作疮，或未破，并皆治之。

以上以一半为细末，炼蜜为丸，如绿豆大。每次服用一百丸，或一百五十丸。一半咀碎，每次服用半两。水一盏八分，先浸半日煎去渣，热服，临卧头低脚高，去枕而卧，每口作十次咽，留一口送下丸子，服毕如常安卧。
升阳调经汤治疗绕项下或至颊车生瘰疬，此症出足阳明胃经中来也。若其疮深远隐曲，肉低，是足少阴肾中来也，是戊传癸水，夫传妻，俱作块子，坚硬大小不等，并皆治之，或作丸服亦得。

以上秤一半作丸，炼蜜为丸，如绿豆大。每次服用一百丸，或一百五十丸。一半咀碎，每次服用半两。若能食，大便硬，可旋加至七八钱止，水二盏，先浸半日，煎至一盏，去渣热服。卧身脚在高处，去枕头，噙一口，作十次咽之，留一口在后送下丸子，服药毕，卧如常，此治法也。
散肿溃坚汤治疗马刀疮，结硬如石，在耳下至缺盆，或至肩上，或至胁下，皆手足少阳经中；及瘰疬遍下颏，或至颊车，坚而不溃，在足阳明经中所出。或二疮已破，及流脓水，并皆治之。服药多少，临病斟酌。量病患饮食多少，大便硬软，以意消息之。

以上咀碎，每次服用六钱或七钱，水二盏，先浸半日，煎至一盏，去渣稍热服。于卧处伸脚在高处，头微低，每噙一口，作十次咽，至服毕，根据常安卧，取药在胸中停留故也。另攒半料，作细末，炼蜜为丸，如绿豆大，每次服用一百丸，此汤留一口送下，更加海藻半两炒，食后量虚实加减多少服，皆仿此例。
救苦胜灵丹汤治疗马刀挟瘿者，从耳下或耳后下颈至肩上，或入缺盆中者，乃手足少阳经之分野。其瘰疬在于颏下，或至颊车者，乃足阳明经之分野，受心脾之邪而作也。今将二证合治之。

Continuous tubercles are called Scrofula (Luo Li, 瘰疬). Those shaped long like a clam are called Machdao (Machdao, 马刀).
[Luo] Liu Chan Shi from Quyang County was skilled in treating sores and scrofula, with even faster effects. He imparted this to all directions: Taiyi Ointment (Taiyi Gao), Yuzhu Powder (Yuzhu San), Ke Xiao Powder (Ke Xiao San), and Cuiyu Ointment (Cuiyu Gao). Using these, there was often efficacy.
Taiyi Ointment is miraculous for treating scrofula.
Myrrha (Smyrnii Resina, 没药) (4 qian) Clear Oil (Qing You, 清油) (1 jin) Lead Tetroxide (Huang Dan, 黄丹) (5 liang) Borneol (Nao Zi, 脑子) (ground, 1 qian) Musk (Shexiang, 麝香) (3 qian) Calomel (Qing Fen, 轻粉) Frankincense (Ruxiang, 乳香) (each 2 qian)
Take clear oil and lead tetroxide to boil into an ointment, stir with a willow branch. Add seven stalks of green onion slowly until the onions are exhausted. Keep stirring over fire without stopping until it does not disperse when dropped in water. Then add myrrh, frankincense, borneol, musk, calomel, etc., stir evenly, and store in a porcelain vessel.
Ke Xiao Powder
Mustard Beetle (Bantao, 斑蝥) (49 pieces, wings and feet not removed, fried) Cassia Bark (Guangui, 官桂) (0.5 qian) Japonica Rice (Jingmi, 粳米) (49 grains) Adzuki Bean (Chixiaodou, 赤小豆) (49 grains) Realgar (Shan, 砂) (0.5 qian)
Grind the above five herbs into fine powder. Initially take one "zi" dose, then half a qian, then three "zi", then four "zi". Decoct roots of *Prunus armeniaca* var. *ansu* (Zhangliugen Tang, 樟柳根汤) to send down the medicine. Take on an empty stomach. Efficacy is indicated by dribbling and astringency in urination. Nausea and vomiting of yellow fluid are acceptable; the scrofula will daily subside spontaneously.
Yuzhu Powder treats scrofula so it subsides spontaneously, harmonizing blood and unblocking meridians.
Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, 当归) Peony Root (Shaoyao, 芍药) Rhubarb (Dahuang, 大黄) Licorice (Gancao, 甘草) Prepared Rehmannia (Shudi, 熟地) Mirabilite (Mangxiao, 芒硝) Scutellaria (Huangqin, 黄芩) Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong, 川芎) (equal parts)
Make into coarse powder. Each dose 3 qian, with one cup of water, three slices of ginger. Decoct to 70%, remove dregs, take warm. One dose per day, effective in 7-8 days.

Schizonepeta (Jingjie, 荆芥) White Silkworm (Baijiangcan, 白僵蚕) Black Morning Glory Seed (Heiqianniu, 黑牵牛) (each 2 qian) Mustard Beetle (Bantao, 斑蝥) (28 pieces, head, wings, feet removed, fried with rice)
Grind into powder. Before sleep, first take 1 qian of Talcum Powder (Huashi, 滑石末) mixed with rice drink. At midnight, take another dose. At dawn (wugeng), mix 1 qian or 2-3 qian of medicine with warm wine, according to strength. After taking, if no foul matter passes in urine, take another dose early next day. If still no passage, at dawn on the third day, first drink thin white glutinous rice porridge soup, then take the previous medicine again, sent down with Centella asiatica (Dengxin Cao, 灯心汤) and 1 qian of Amber (Hupo, 琥珀) powder, heavy dosage. Cure is indicated by smooth urination expelling foul toxins. If urination is painful, take 1 qian of Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai, 青黛) mixed with licorice soup to stop pain.
[Yan] Three Sages Pill treats scrofula.
Cloves (Dingxiang, 丁香) (50 grains) Mustard Beetle (Bantao, 斑蝥) (10 pieces) Musk (Shexiang, 麝香) (separately ground, 1 qian)
Grind into powder. Use 50 fermented soybeans (Yanchi, 盐豉), soak in hot water, grind to mud-like consistency, mix evenly with the medicine. Form pills the size of mung beans. Take 5-7 pills before meals with warm wine. Three doses per day. After 5-7 days, feeling of dribbling urine indicates drug efficacy. Or stool passing like green fascia indicates the root of the disease. Avoid wet noodles and toxic foods.
[Baoming Ji] Lonicera Soup
Honeysuckle (Lianqiao, 连翘) (1 jin) Knotweed (Qumai, 瞿麦) (1 jin) Rhubarb (Dahuang, 大黄) (3 liang) Licorice (Gancao, 甘草) (2 liang)
Cut into pieces. Each dose 1 liang, with two bowls of water. Decoct to 1.5 cups. Take after morning meal at Si hour. Lesions on both sides of the neck belong to Foot Shaoyang Meridian. After more than ten days of medication, moxa 14 cones on Tongziliao (BL1, 瞳子髎) acupoint. Do not stop medication; effective after 50-60 days. Another formula: add Rhubarb (Dahuang, 大黄), Akebia (Mutong, 木通), Fritillaria (Beimu, 贝母) (or Anemarrhena/Zhimu, 知母) each 5 liang, Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄) 7 fen, Areca Nut (Binglang, 槟榔) 0.5 liang, remove licorice. Grind together with previous medicines into fine powder, take 3-5 qian mixed with warm water.
[Wang] Victory Pill treats scrofula regardless of duration, and small nodules on both sides of the back of the head, multiple connected ones, plus consumption with abdominal masses.
Crucian Carp (Jiyu, 鲫鱼) (1 piece, remove guts and roe) Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄) (1 piece, egg-sized) Realgar (Shan, 砂) (1 qian. Place the above two items inside the carp belly, place fish on charcoal fire, burn until smoke ceases, then remove) Centipede (Wugong, 蜈蚣) (whole, 1) Curcuma Phaeocaulis (Pengzhu, 蓬术) (0.5 liang) Gardenia (Zhizi, 栀子) (5 pieces) Gleditsia Sinensis (Zaojiao, 皂角) (2 pods. Burn the above four items to retain character) Castor Seed (Bimazi, 蓖麻子) (5 pieces, remove skin, burn on lamp) Yellow Ming Glue (Huangming Jiao, 黄明胶) (3 wen)
Grind into powder. Take 2 pods of Gleditsia Sinensis, remove skin, crush. With 3 bowls of water, rub to remove residue. Boil 4 liang of lean mutton until soft. Add 5 qian of Calomel (Qingfen, 轻粉). For men, use half a liang of milk, grind together into paste, mix with powder to form pills the size of mung beans, coat with Cinnabar (Zhusha, 朱砂). Soak in warm wine, swallow 10 pills in the morning as one dose. In the evening, observe the flesh bumps. If there are five on the neck, use five doses to eliminate them. Observe how many grow to determine number of doses. Once effective, take a few more doses.
White Flower Snake Powder treats chronic draining scrofula occurring between crown and axilla, with aversion to cold and fever, painful or painless.

Grind into powder. Each dose 2 qian, add 0.5 qian of Nifen (Nifen, 腻粉), grind evenly. At wugeng time, take with glutinous rice drink. At Si hour, foul matter is passed via bowels, which is the root of the sore. Wait over ten days, then take another dose. Avoid wind-inducing and heat-obstructing foods. If sore has formed, effective in one month, miraculous.
[Worldly/Secular] Small Rhinoceros Horn Pill taken regularly removes the root, cuts off the source, effective as if divine. Suitable for all types of scrofula.
Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao, 犀角) Green Tangerine Peel (Qingpi, 青皮) Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮) (each 1 liang) Black Morning Glory Seed (Heiqianniu, 黑牵牛) (1 liang, half raw half fried) Honeysuckle (Lianqiao, 连翘) (0.5 liang)
Grind into fine powder. Use 2 strips of Gleditsia Sinensis, remove skin and strings, roast, crush, squeeze juice with cloth to get about one bowl. Also use 2 jin of fresh Mint (Bohe, 薄荷), grind to extract juice. Simmer together into paste. Mix with previous powder to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills each time, with Lonicera decoction after meals, alternatively with Mint tea.
[Zihe] A woman suffered from scrofula extending to chest and abdomen, becoming large sores, continuous without healthy skin/flesh. She sought treatment from Dairen (Zihe). Dairen said: Fire excess is conquered by salty-cold. Ordered her to vomit using Cangyan (Cangyan, 沧盐). Immediately crusted after one vomiting. Then used Liangge San (Cooling the Chest Powder) and Jiedu Tang (Detoxification Decoction). Skin and flesh returned to original state.
[Worldly/Secular] Treats scrofula not yet broken like magic, repeatedly effective where hundred medicines failed.
Apricot Leaf (Xingshuye, 杏树叶) (shade-dried, powdered, 5 fen) Wannian Shuang (Wannianshuang, 万年霜) (calcined, powdered, 2.5 fen. This is Human Urine Deposit/Renzhongbai, 人中白) Bat (Bianfu, 蝙蝠) (fire-baked dry, powdered, 2.5 fen) White Flower Snake Slough (Baihuasheshe Tui, 白花蛇蜕) (burned to ash retaining character, powdered, 2.5 fen) Honeybee (Fengmi, 蜜蜂) (7 pieces, baked powdered)
Mix apricot leaf powder with clear water, then add the previous four powders, mix evenly and apply to lesion. Cover with a piece of leather paper pierced with holes. If dry, brush with clear water on the paper. Change medicine once every 24 hours. If face feels hot, take several doses of Qingliang Yinzi (Cooling Drink) to reduce heat.
Baisan (Defeat Powder) Scrofula Formula is miraculous.
White Rosin (Baijiaoxiang, 白胶香) Cuttlefish Bone (Haipiaoxiao, 海螵蛸) Dalbergia Odorifera (Jiangzhenxiang, 降真香) (use heartwood, free of earthy smell)
Equal parts, grind to powder, sprinkle on lesion, cover with water paper overnight to recede. For those already broken:
Honeybee (21 pieces) Snake Slough (7.5 fen) Centipede (2 pieces, collected before Dragon Boat Festival)
Use 4 liang of Sesame Oil. Put the above three medicines in oil, boil with mild fire. Add 2 liang of Calomel (Guangfen, 光粉). Stir urgently with seven mulberry branches chopstick-thick. Wait for cool, release fire qi. Can be used after 7 days and nights. Spread on paper as ointment to apply to lesion. (These two formulas obtained from Zheng family of Yimen, tested repeatedly, no need to take medicine internally, paste for 5-7 days and it dissipates.)
[Danyu] Paste for Scrofula.
Use 5 large Aconite (Wutou, 乌头) fire-roasted, 5 raw, remove skin and navel. 2.5 strips of large Gleditsia Sinensis (Zaojiao, 皂荚), brush with good rice vinegar twice, roast until vinegar dry. Half bake dry, remove black skin. Also use 160 fried glutinous rice grains. Grind together into powder. Warm slightly with good rice vinegar on fire, apply to lesion. Adding honey is better. Regardless of having head or not, 5 large Spiders (Da Zhi Zhu, 大蜘蛛) (from *Shenghui Fang*, also called Spider), sun-dry, finely grind, mix with butter like flour, paste twice daily. (From *Shenghui Fang*, one says Spider). Whether broken or not, from neck below to front of chest, all treated. Use Nine-True Vine (Jiuzhen Teng, 九真藤) chicken-egg size, wash, chew raw, take regularly. Crush leaves, cover sore, take several times to stop. (From *Doumen Fang*, Nine-True Vine is Polygonum multiflorum/He Shou Wu, 何首乌.)
[Wang] Snail Powder treats scrofula whether ulcerated or not, both can be treated.
Snail (Woniu, 蜗牛) (any amount, pierce with bamboo skewer, dry on tile, burn to retain character)
Grind into powder, add little Calomel (Qingfen, 轻粉), mix with Pig Marrow (Zhuguisu, 猪骨髓), apply with paper flower sized to sore. Another method: 7 snails with shell, raw, remove meat, put 7 Cloves (Dingxiang, 丁香) into 7 shells, burn to retain character, grind with meat into paste, apply with paper flower.
[Hai] Nodules in Shaoyang meridian on side/back of neck, regardless of flesh color, size, or duration, or if red, hard, swollen, painful.
Raw Chinese Yam (Shanyao, 山药) (1 piece, peeled) Castor Seed (Bimazi, 蓖麻子) (1 piece)
Grind evenly, spread and paste as if divine. (Danyu said: Chinese Yam tonifies yang qi, raw can reduce swelling and hardness. Classic says: Where deficiency exists, evil must gather, stay and not go, the disease becomes excess, is this not referring to swelling and hardness? Thus its qi stagnates, naturally cannot but move.)
[Worldly/Secular] Fenjin Powder
Phellodendron (Huangbai, 黄柏) Grass Aconite (Caowu, 草乌) (equal parts) Grind to powder, mix with honey to apply.
Qingliang Sanbing (Cooling Powder Cake)
Smilax Glabra Bulb (Shancigu, 山慈姑) (raw use) Galangal (Liangjiang, 良姜) (equal parts)
All pound into cakes, remove juice, compress. Can dissipate cold and heat. Or grind Smilax Glabra Bulb, mix with wine to take, very wonderful.
This medicine greatly dissipates scrofula like magic.
[Dong] Longquan Powder applies to scrofula.
Tile Powder (Wafen, 瓦粉) Longquan Powder (Longquanfen, 龙泉粉) (fried, i.e., powder from whetstone) Kelp (Kunbu, 昆布) (remove upper part) Curcuma Wenyujin (Guangzhu, 广术) Bupleurum Ternatum (Jingsanleng, 京三棱) (each 0.5 liang. Soak in wine, fry dry)
All grind to extremely fine powder, decoct hot water to mix and apply. Using this removes disease especially fast.
[Worldly/Secular] To treat scrofula, use Crucian Carp and Genkwa Flower (Yanhua, 芫花), burn to ash retaining character, mix with water to apply. To treat Rat Scrofula (Shulou, 鼠瘰): Bake young rat without hair dry, stir-fry bat feces with wheat, bake Ghost Arrow Root (Guijian Gen, 鬼箭根) dry, grind each to powder, mix evenly with oil to apply, reapply when dry.
[Bencao] To treat Rat Scrofula and Scrofula. Fry Loach skin on tile, grind one ingredient to powder, add Mercury Powder (Shufen, 水银粉), dry apply.
[Guangji] To treat scrofula not healing for years. Raw Scrophularia (Xuanshen, 玄参) crush and apply, change once daily.
[Waitai] To treat scrofula, burn wild wolf dung to ash, apply.
[Bencao] To treat various Ying diseases.
Cinnabar (Zhusha, 朱砂) Arsenic Trioxide (Pishuang, 砒霜) Realgar (Shan, 砂) Horse Tooth Nitre (Mayaxiao, 马牙硝) (equal parts)
Grind fine in mortar, knead with wheat paste like Cyperus rotundus shape. Make according to sore size, insert entirely into sore. If fearing swelling, grind Mint (Bohe, 薄荷) fine to apply. When closing, grind Large Phellodendron (Dabaipi, 大柏皮) and White Starflower (Baidingxiang, 白丁香) to powder, insert entirely into hole. If edge not dry, use Alkekengi fruit (Jiangzi, 江子) remove shell, any amount, fry in Sesame Oil until red, remove fire qi, remove Jiangzi, add wax to make like ointment. Apply according to sore size, and apply White Peony Root (Baiji, 白芨) powder mixed with water, immediate effect.
To treat Fistula (Lou, 漏). Use Herba Cynomorii (Shegu, 蛇菰) seed any amount, dry on tile, grind to powder, dip paper twist in medicine, insert into sore, immediate effect. (Shegu seed unclear, likely Cigu seed.)
[Danyu] Another formula: Use large pond snail meat, burn to retain character, grind to powder, add little Musk (Shexiang, 麝香). If wet, sprinkle dry; if dry, mix with oil to apply.
[Maijue] People aged 50-60, pulse floating and large, Bi syndrome along back, suffering from borborygmus, Machdao with Ying are all due to exhaustion/consumption.
Also treats scrofula.

Make one dose, 2 slices of ginger, decoct Silver Vine (Jinyinteng, 金银藤) soup 1.5 cups, decoct previous medicine, after eating swallow 50 pills of Jianggong Wan (Jianggong Wan, 绛宫丸).

Use Saccharomyces (Shenqu, 神曲) paste to form pills. If broken, add 1 liang Ginseng to make paste, decoct with Licorice Node (Gancao Jie, 甘草节) and White Silkworm (Jiangcan, 僵蚕) together.

[Dong] Lianqiao Sanjian Tang treats sores from below ear to Supraclavicular Fossa (Quepen, 缺盆) or to shoulder, hard as stone, moving without root, named Machdao. Sores come from Hand/Foot Shaoyang meridians, or occur on both flanks, or already suppurating, or not broken, all treated.

Shengyang Tiaojing Tang treats scrofula around neck below or to Jiache (颊车) acupoint. This symptom comes from Foot Yangming Stomach meridian. If sore is deep and hidden, flesh depressed, comes from Foot Shaoyin Kidney meridian, Earth transmitting to Water, husband transmitting to wife, all form masses, hard unequal size, all treated, or made into pills also acceptable.

Sanzhong Kuijian Tang treats Machdao sore, knotted hard as stone, below ear to Supraclavicular Fossa, or to shoulder, or to hypochondrium, all in Hand/Foot Shaoyang meridians; and scrofula all over chin below, or to Jiache, hard not ulcerating, in Foot Yangming meridian origin. Or two sores already broken, flowing pus/water, all treated. Dosage depends on condition. Measure patient's diet amount, stool hardness/softness, adjust accordingly.

Lie with feet high, head slightly low, hold one mouthful, swallow ten times, after finishing lie normally, because medicine stays in chest. Save half material, grind to fine powder, refined honey to form pills size of mung beans, each dose 100 pills. Leave one mouthful of this soup to send down, add more Sargassum (Haizao, 海藻) 0.5 liang fried, after meal adjust amount based on deficiency/excess, all follow this example.
Jiuku Shengling Dan Tang treats Machdao with Ying, from below ear or behind ear down neck to shoulder, or entering Supraclavicular Fossa, this is Hand/Foot Shaoyang meridian territory. Its scrofula under chin or to Jiache, is Foot Yangming meridian territory, caused by Heart/Spleen evil. Now combine two syndromes to treat.
