(Although termed a "general treatment formula," one must carefully differentiate the specific condition and not apply it indiscriminately.)
Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill)
(Qian Yi created this pill by removing Cinnamon Twig and Aconite from Zhang Zhongjing's Shenqi Wan to treat pediatric cases; it is now commonly used for both adult and pediatric conditions.) It belongs to the category of **Pingbu Ji** (Mild Tonifying Formulas). The six ingredients possess balanced properties, neither cold nor hot, serving as a mild tonic to nourish the Yin of the Liver, Spleen, and Kidney meridians. They encompass the flavors of Sour, Bitter, Sweet, Pungent, Salty, and Bland. The name "Dihuang" emphasizes its primary function of tonifying the Kidney.
* Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix), 8 liang, Bitter
* Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), 4 liang, Sour
* Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), 4 liang, Sweet
* Fuling (Poria), 3 liang, Bland
* Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), 3 liang, Salty
* Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), 3 liang, Pungent
This formula is reliable for treating **Ganshen Yin Kui** (Liver-Kidney Yin Deficiency) with floating fire. It treats various syndromes of Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency with hyperactive fire.
Modifications:
* Adding Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex) and Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) creates Liuwei Jia Duzhong Niuxi Wan.
* Removing Zexie and adding Yizhi Ren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus) creates Liuwei Qu Zexie Jia Yizhi Wan, used for frequent urination (**Xiao Shu Pin Shu**).
Cuishi Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill of Cuishi), which adds Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) and Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), is used for Yang deficiency to "benefit the source of fire to eliminate yin shadows" (Yi Huo Zhi Yuan, Yi Xiao Yin Yi).
Adding Cishi (Magnetitum), Muli (Ostreae Concha), and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), while removing Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), creates Duqi Wan. Both formulas are derived from Liuwei Dihuang Wan.
Liuwei Dihuang Wan was originally modified from Shenqi Wan. Shenqi Wan is essentially the Eight-Ingredient Pill (with Fuzi and Rougui).
In *Jingui Yaolue*, Shenqi Wan treats **Zhuan Bao** (Displacement of the Bladder/Uterus). In women, Zhuan Bao is caused by Qi stagnation in the bladder/uterus. "Li" is synonymous with "Liao Li," indicating disordered Qi in the Bao (uterus/bladder).
Symptoms include normal appetite but inability to sleep, irritability, heat sensation, orthopnea (leaning forward to breathe), and difficult urination. *Jingui Yaolue·Furen Zabing Pian* states: "When a woman suffers from illness, eats normally, feels irritable and hot, cannot lie flat, but must lean forward to breathe, this is called Zhuan Bao, treated with Shenqi Wan."
It also treats **Xiao Ke** (Wasting-Thirst) with excessive drinking and urination (drinking one dou, urinating one dou). *Jingui Yaolue·Xiao Ke Pian* states: "If urination is excessive, and for every dou drunk, a dou is urinated, use Shenqi Wan." *Suwen·Qi Jue Lun* states: "Fei Xiao (Lung Wasting) involves drinking one dou and urinating two dou, which is incurable." Here, drinking one and urinating one indicates it is still salvageable. Yu Jiayan in *Yimen Falü* stated: "Heat in the upper jiao causes wasting; if Kidney Water does not ascend, thirst occurs. Besides Shenqi Wan, what other treatment exists?" Xu Gao notes: Wasting-thirst is fundamentally due to Fire, but excessive urination indicates Kidney Yang deficiency with pathogenic water dominance. Thus, Shenqi Wan steams and moves Kidney Yang to expel pathogenic water. Qi refers to Yin; numbness in the lower abdomen indicates impending Chong Mai rebellion; Shenqi Wan expels Yin pathogens.
For **Xu Lao Yao Tong** (Deficiency-Labor Lower Back Pain), *Jingui Yaolue·Xueli Xulao Pian* states: "For deficiency-labor lower back pain, abdominal tightness and urgency, and difficult urination, use Shenqi Wan."
Commentary: "Shenqi Wan specifically promotes diuresis; water leaves without injuring Yin, Yang is supported without raising Fire. This is the subtlety of its formulation. Using it for all diseases under heaven would greatly miss its true meaning."
*Jisheng Fang*'s Shenqi Wan (compiled by Yan Yonghe) adds Niuxi and Cheqiancao to *Jingui*'s Shenqi Wan. It is effective for Yang deficiency causing Gu Zhang (abdominal distension like a蛊 insect), accompanied by wheezing, fullness, phlegm rales (Water overflowing transforming into Phlegm), and a deep, fine pulse (Yang decline, Water abundance). One may use Fuzi or Fuling as the sovereign herb. Li Dongyuan in *Lanshi Micang* stated: "Regarding this formula, *Jisheng* uses Fuzi as sovereign, while Xue Xinpu uses Fuling. Fuzi restores Yang, steaming Kidney Qi so the gates open, allowing stomach water to drain, because Yang governs opening. Fuling drains dampness, Cheqian guides water down. Even with massive doses of Fuling and Cheqian, without Yang movement, they are ineffective. Is it not relying on Fuling?"
Qibao Meiran Dan (Seven-Treasure Beard-Beautifying Pill)
Tonifies Essence and Blood.
* Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix) [Red and White, 1 jin each, peeled, sliced, steamed and dried with Black Soybeans]
* Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [Washed in wine]
* Fuling (Poria) [Mixed with milk]
* Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) [Soaked in wine]
* Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) [Soaked in wine]
* Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) [Soaked in wine and steamed]
* Pogu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus) [Stir-fried with Black Sesame]
Honey as pill binder. (Each ingredient half a jin. Another prescription uses Pogu Zhi 1.6 qian.)
Hei Dihuang Wan (Black Rehmannia Pill)
Treats Spleen-Kidney insufficiency and sexual excess leading to emaciation, weakness, and sallow complexion. This is a Kidney-tonifying and Spleen-strengthening formula.
* Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) 1.6 qian, stir-fried black
* Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) 1.6 qian, stir-fried black until carbonized but retaining nature
* Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) 8 qian
* Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) [Light dried ginger, stir-fried: Spring/Autumn 0.7 qian, Summer 0.5 qian, Winter 0.1 qian]
It dries the Spleen and nourishes the Kidney simultaneously. The classics state: "Spleen cold leads to dampness; Kidney heat leads to dryness." Therefore, treating the Spleen avoids dryness, and treating the Kidney avoids dampness. Xu Xueshi said, "Using Cangzhu harms the Kidney; using Dihuang harms the Spleen." By stir-frying both until black, their harsh qualities are removed, allowing them to excel in both functions. It is an excellent formula for upper cough and lower diarrhea, especially when the pulse is fine and rapid. It is also a sacred formula for prolapse and hemorrhoids. Wang Ang (*Yifang Jijie*) cites Zhang Jiegu: "This is the sacred medicine for chronic hemorrhoids due to Blood deficiency." Xu Lingtai (*Lantai Gui Fan*) says: "This is the sacred formula for blood loss and Spleen cold."
Huanshao Dan (Return-to-Youth Pill) originates from Master Yang, famous for treating Spleen-Kidney Cold Deficiency.
* Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) 2 liang
* Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma)
* Rongrong (Cynomorii Rhizoma)
* Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex)
* Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix)
* Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus)
* Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus)
* Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) - *Note: Text says 'Xiang', likely referring to a warming aromatic or specific herb context, often associated with small amounts or specific preparations in variations, but standard Huanshao Dan includes Ba Ji Tian.* Correction based on text: Ba Ji Tian (Morindae Officinalis Radix)
* Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus)
* Chushizi (Celastrus Semen)
* Fuling (Poria)
* Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 5 qian
Adding Xuduan (Dianthi Herba) and changing Fuling to Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) changes the name to Dalao'er Wan.
Danxi's Ziyin Dabu Wan is Huanshao Dan minus Chushizi. Some say this formula communicates Heart and Kidney, balancing Yin and Yang without bias. Wang Ang (*Yifang Jijie*) states: "This is a balanced Yin-Yang tonifying formula."
Hujian Wan (Tiger-Hiding Pill)
Treats **Wu** (Atrophy Syndrome) of tendons and bones. Specifically for Kidney Yin deficiency causing weak tendons/bones, inability to walk, and bone-steaming tidal fever.
* Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma)
* Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex)
* Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix)
* Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) 3.5 liang
* Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium)
* Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) 5 qian
Stewed with mutton to essence.
Atrophy syndrome often arises from internal organ heat. This formula is recommended for subduing Yang and strengthening Water. *Suwen·Wei Lun* states: "Five Zang organs, due to Lung heat scorching the leaves, develop Wei Atrophy." Wang Jinshan (*Gufang Xuanzhu*) states: "When Zang Yin does not hide, internal heat generates atrophy; one must address the specific Zang to conceal its Yin." Note: This formula is most appropriate for atrophy due to Zang heat. Classics state atrophy belongs to Heat. Later practitioners using warm tonics are mistaken. However, atrophy due to Phlegm-Dampness or Wind-Cold external pathogens is not suitable for this formula.
Longmu Jiyin Dan is this formula plus Longgu (Os Draconis et Mammutis) to secure Essence.
Buyi Wan also treats atrophy weakness. It adds Ziheche (Placenta Human), Fuling, Baizhu, Ganjiang, Gancao, Tusizi, and Wuweizi to Hujian Wan, suitable for Yin deficiency with Damp-Heat atrophy. (Buyi Wan was added by Danxi for Yin deficiency with Damp-Heat.)
Sancai Dan (Three Powers Pill) uses Tiantong (Asparagi Radix) 2 liang, Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) 2 liang, and Renshen (Ginseng Radix) 1 liang. It tonifies Qi, Essence, and Spirit of the Three Jiao.
Fengsui Dan adds Shaoren (Amomi Fructus) 1.5 liang and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) to Sancai Dan. (Nourishes Yin without drying. Yu Jiayan *Yimen Falü* states: "Adding Huangbai to nourish Kidney Yin and Shaoren to move stagnation in the Spleen slightly modifies the bitterness of Tiantong and Huangbai, allowing Renshen to establish Middle Qi and exert its authority.")
Dazao Wan (Great Creation Pill) was created by Wu Qiu. Wang Jinshan's modifications are particularly profound, nourishing Metal above and Kidney/Liver below, subduing Yang and securing Yin thoroughly.
(Wang Jinshan *Gufang Xuanzhu*: Not reaching profound mystery, I refer to Danxi's original formula. This is Dazao Wan. Heche (Placenta) 1 unit, soaked in rice water overnight, pounded with child's urine and wine. Lujiaojiao (Deer Antler Glue) 1.5 liang. Rongrong (Cynomorii Rhizoma) 1.5 liang. Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 7 qian. Suoyang (Cynomorii Herba) 1.5 liang. Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) 1.5 liang. Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). Winter adds Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Tiantong (Asparagi Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix). Blue comes from indigo but is bluer; later generations surpass earlier ones.)
Renshen Guben Wan (Ginseng Root-Solidifying Pill)
Treats **Xu Lao** (Deficiency-Labor), Lung-Kidney Yin deficiency with Fire. Uses Shengdi (Raw Rehmanniae Radix) and Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) and Tiantong (Asparagi Radix), honey-binded pills. Renshen 2 liang, others 4 liang each. Can add shellfish-type herbs (Guiban, Muli) or Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini). This formula treats Metal and Water together, relying on Renshen to solidify Yuan Qi. It is indeed a good formula for Lung-Kidney Yin deficiency with rising Fire. Ye Tianshi's cases often add Guiban/Muli to subdue Yang, or Ejiao/Ganju (Chrysanthemi Flos) to extinguish Wind, treating Yin fluid deficiency with Yang disturbance.
*Taoist Canon* Tianwang Buxin Dan (Heavenly King Heart-Nourishing Pill)
(There are four versions; only this *Taoist Canon* version is general.) Nourishing the Function of the Heart calms the Spirit. Nourishing the Heart refers to nourishing its functions, while the Spirit's uses include Hun, Po, Yi, Zhi, Jing, and Shi. Nourishing the function allows the Heart to manage affairs.
* Jingning Bu Po (Calming Po): Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 1 liang each.
* Liudong Bu Hun (Flowing Hun): Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 1 liang, Baiziren (Biota Semen) 1 liang, Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix) 5 qian.
* Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Fuling (Poria), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) 5 qian each: Tiao Zhong Bu Yi (Regulate Middle, Nourish Yi).
* Shengdi (Raw Rehmanniae Radix) 4 liang, Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) 5 qian: Tian Xia Bu Jing (Fill Lower, Nourish Jing).
* Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) 5 qian, Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) [Text cuts off, implies Tong Qiao/Promoting Orifices].
(Xin Xue Bu Zu - Heart Blood Insufficiency. One example: Heart Blood... Formula has Changpu... Promotes orifices... Honey pill, Cinnabar coating.)
Kongsheng Zhenzhong Dan (Confucius' Sacred Pillow Central Treasure Pill)
Treats forgetfulness (**Shan Wang**).
* Longgu (Os Draconis et Mammutis)
* Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum)
* Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix)
* Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma)
(Equal parts) Calves Liver (Longgu), Tonifies Kidney (Guiban), Opens Heart Orifices (Shichangpu, Yuanzhi). Long-term use enhances intelligence and memory. Borrowing the Yin-Yang of these two substances to supplement our body's Yin-Yang, and borrowing their spiritual energy to assist our body's spirituality. Yuanzhi connects Kidney to Heart; Shichangpu benefits orifices and removes Phlegm, thus opening intelligence and strengthening memory.
Dabu Yin Wan (Great Supplement Yin Pill)
* Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) Salt-water fried 4 liang
* Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) Salt-water fried 4 liang
* Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) Wine-steamed 6 liang
* Baiguiban (Old Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) Bone-fried 6 liang
* Zhu Suizhu (Porci Medulla) Steamed and mixed with Honey pills, taken empty stomach with Salt broth. Avoid spicy food.
(Nourishes Yin and descends Fire.) Zhimu and Huangbai are bitter-cold, directly suppressing Ministerial Fire, a method for temporary regulation. For **E Ni** (Hiccups) due to Liver-Kidney deficiency, take with Renshen-Baizhu Tang to support Stomach Qi. Zhu Zhenheng *Danxi Xin Fa* states: "Hiccups belonging to Liver-Kidney deficiency involve Qi rushing straight up from below the navel to the mouth. Kidney Qi is suppressed below; Left Kidney is Water and cannot rebel alone, but Right Kidney houses Ministerial Fire. Ministerial Fire flares up, carrying Chong Qi upward. Classics say 'Rebellious Qi with interior tension, Chong Mai disease.' Use this pill to suppress Ministerial Fire and nourish the source, hiding Chong Qi so hiccups stop. Taking with Renshen-Baizhu Tang: Human Yin relies on Stomach for nourishment. If Stomach Earth is damaged, Wood carries Ministerial Fire to attack this Earth. When Earth fails to Ministerial Fire's thief, one must strengthen Earth to control Dragon-Leopard Fire." Xu Gao notes: This pill is very appropriate for deficiency-Fire hiccups, but strictly contraindicated for Cold hiccups. The world says Danxi excelled at nourishing Yin, but his legislation had biases. Long-term use of bitter-cold damages Yin. Criticizing Danxi's bias is justified. Danxi proposed "Yang is often in excess, Yin is often deficient," hence this pill. Who knew long-term bitter-cold damages Yin?
Tongguan Wan (Pass-the-Gate Pill)
Also known as Zishen Wan, created by Li Dongyuan to treat Guan Yin (closure of Yin/urinary retention). Guan Yin means inability to urinate. Lower Jiao Heat congestion with Kidney/Bladder deficiency. Mouth not thirsty but urinary retention difficult. (Heat in Lower Jiao Blood division causes no thirst but retention.) Yin Fire rushing up causes Ge Yang (opposition Yang). Hiccups, wheezing, sore throat can all be treated. Soles of feet feel like burning, calf/thigh pain; Heat hidden in Yin can also be managed. (Ye Tianshi used this to search for hidden heat in Yin, showing great insight.)
* Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) Wine-fried 1 liang
* Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) Wine-fried 2 liang
* Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) [Strong, large, bitter-cold. Use cold for heat, aided by a little Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig) for treatment.]
Li Dongyuan *Lanshi Micang* states: "Guan means inability to urinate." Urination is governed by Bladder, but Lung is the upper source of Water. If Lung has hidden heat, causing thirst and urinary obstruction, use thin-air, bland-draining herbs to drain fire, clear Lung, and nourish Water's source. If Heat is in Lower Jiao Blood division, causing no thirst and urinary obstruction, this is blocking the flow. Must use thick-aroma, heavy Yin-of-Yin herbs. Wang Shanfu suffered urinary obstruction, developing middle-fullness, hard abdomen like stone, leg skin cracking with water leakage, insomnia, inability to eat/drink. I recalled *Suwen*: "Without Yang, Yin cannot generate; without Yin, Yang cannot transform." Also: "Upper vomiting/regurgitation," signs of Nei Guan/Wai Ge appeared, death imminent. Prescribed this pill. Soon, anterior urethra felt like knife-stabbing/burning, urine flowed like a waterfall, swelling subsided. This case: Upper Jiao Qi division with thirst vs. Lower Jiao Blood division without thirst. Treatments differ; must distinguish. Wang Ang says: "If Bladder Yang deficiency, Yin cannot transform, use Shenqi Wan."
Banlong Wan (Spotted Dragon Pill)
* Lujiaojiao (Colla Cornu Cervi) 8 liang
* Lujiaoshuang (Deer Antler Frost) 8 liang
* Baiziren (Biota Semen) 8 liang
* Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) 8 liang
* Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) 8 liang
* Fuling (Poria) 8 liang
* Buguzhi (Psoraleae Fructus) 4 liang
Moves Essence and Marrow to fill bone voids, returning to Kidney/Bladder and connecting Du Mai. (Sexual exhaustion depletes True Essence. Although warming Qi and tonifying Flavor helps, recovery is impossible. Thus, using "有情之品" (Sentient/Substantial substances) specifically targeting Du Mai; combined with Shaoyin/Taiyang coordination, Essence/Marrow is moved to fill bone voids, gathering at Du Mai's Xinhui point, filling Marrow Sea. Fuling guides drugs downward to connect Shaoyin/Taiyang to Du Mai, ascending to Marrow Sea, achieving moving and sealing function. Original formula lacked Fuling; Wang Jinshan added it, reasoning is sound, follow it.)
Danliao Fang adds Yangqishi (Leucogynopsidis Semen), Lurong (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum), Fuzi, Danggui, Huangqi, Suanzaoren, Zhusha. (Also named Banlong Wan.)
Guilu Erxian Gao (Turtle-Deer Two Immortals Paste)
Treats Jing Ji (Extreme Essence Deficiency). Beyond Five Exhaustions, there are Six Extremes: Qi, Blood, Essence, Tendons, Bones, Muscle. All indicate Essence-Qi dual deficiency. Emaciation, shortness of breath, nocturnal emission.
* Renshen (Ginseng Radix) 1 jin
* Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) 2 jin
Boil paste. First boil Deer Antler (10 jin) and Turtle Shell (10 jin) over Mulberry wood fire to make glue, then mix with Ginseng/Cocklebur paste.
Tonifies Qi, Blood, Spirit, and Essence mutually. Li Shizhen *Bencao Gangmu* states: "Turtle belly connects Ren Mai; use its shell to nourish Heart/Kidney/Blood to tonify Yin. Deer head turns toward tail, connecting Du Mai; use its horn to tonify Mingmen/Essence/Qi to tonify Yang." Used together, they nourish Spirit; sufficient Essence/Qi naturally strengthens Spirit.
Qing'e Wan (Green Adamant Pill) treats Deficiency-Labor Lower Back Pain.
*Suwen·Ma Yao Jingwei Lun* states: "The waist is the mansion of the Kidney; inability to twist/turn indicates Kidney exhaustion."
* Pogu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus)
* Hutao (Juglandis Semen) 20 liang, peeled and ground
* Suan (Allii Sativi Bulbus) 4 liang
* Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) 4 liang
* Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex) 1 jin
Deficiency-Cold Wheezing/Cough by Zheng Guo. (Kidney deficiency-cold causes wheezing/cough.) Remove Garlic, Ginger, Duzhong, take with Honey. Pogu Zhi and Hutao tonify Qi and Blood, creating a Water generating Wood synergy. Sufficient Qi prevents Lung cold; sufficient Blood prevents Kidney dryness. Long-term use benefits greatly, treating upper wheezing/cough and lower strengthening waist/legs. "Without Huangbai/Zhimu, Pogu Zhi is useless without Hutao, like a Jellyfish without a Shrimp." Note: Jellyfish is Hai Mu.
Another Lilin Prescription: Hutao (Purple-skin Walnut 1 liang, with skin and partition). Use with skin. One dose cures infant phlegm-wheezing. (In Lili, a case near death, infant unable to nurse/eat for 5 days, one dose cured it, as milk coagulated in the diaphragm.) Eating sour/bitter softens teeth. *Fangxuan Zhuzhu* cites *Rihua Bencao*: "Eating sour softens teeth; chewing Hutao resolves it." Illness from eating too many plums gathers Phlegm-Fluid in diaphragm; sour-cold nature agitates Lung, causing bitter cough/silent voice. Only Hutao can resolve diaphragmatic Phlegm-Fluid, moistening...
Erzhi Wan (Two Solstices Pill)
* Nvzhenzi (Ligustri Lucidi Fructus)
* Hanliancao (Ecliptae Herba)

Fusang Wan (Mulberry Tree Pill), also known as Sangma Wan.
* Sangye (Mori Folium) 1 jin
* Mahua (Sesami Fructus Niger) 4 liang
Nourishes Blood, disperses Wind, keeps face youthful. Honey pill. Removes Wind-Dampness.
Zisheng Wan takes meaning from Kun Yuan (*I Ching*: "Great is Kun Yuan, all things rely on it for birth").
* Sijun Zi Tang base: Renshen 3 liang, Fuling 2 liang, Baizhu 2 liang.
* Bian Dou (Vigna Semen) 1.5 liang
* Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) 2 liang
* Qianshi (Nelumbinis Semen) 1.5 liang
* Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 4 qian
* Yiyiren (Coicis Semen) 1 liang
* Houren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) 8 qian
* Sharen (Amomi Fructus) 1.5 liang
* Huoxiang (Pogostemonis Herba) 1 liang
* Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) 2 liang
* Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) 1 liang
* Zhara Rou (Crataegi Fructus) 1.5 liang
* Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) 1 liang
For Qi blockage or slippery fetus, use concurrent elimination and tonification.
External Surgery: Tooth Fistula (caused by Stomach Damp-Heat, add Kushen for efficacy). Pediatrics: Gan Accumulation (caused by Spleen deficiency and accumulation). Easy hunger/fullness alternation makes it suitable. (Hunger makes full, full makes hungry, miraculous and indescribable. Xu Lingtai *Lantai Gui Fan* states: "Regardless of cause, if used as a general Spleen-Stomach formula, it misses the formulation's meaning. Ingredients are too mixed, lacking method. Keep it for reference." Xu Gao notes: The vital Qi of Three Jiao and Five Zang relies entirely on Spleen-Stomach for transformation. This formula tonifies Spleen-Stomach while regulating Three Jiao. Suitable for deficiency-excess patterns; do not lightly criticize.)
